Armstrong-Whitworth A.W.XV Atalanta

A very large (for the time) high-wing, 4-engined monoplane built for the Imperial routes. The remaining 5 were requisitioned into the R.A.F. in the early 1940s, with the survivors being transferred to the Indian Air Force as maritime reconnaissance aircraft.

It is rather odd. A fascinating plane, bold in conception but obsolete by the time the war broke out. The idea of them lumbering around the Indian Ocean armed with a single gun when they might meet a Japanese carrier task force at any time os rather scary.

I see what you're saying, Armstrong Whitworth were the ones to experiment with large and insane military aircraft, They even made an entire BWB!
