New driver here is this blitz thing happening right now? I personally driving in the country right now so havnt hit any borders or state lines until after the 14th I have control of where I go. Staying to the countryside for the next 2 days. How’s it going out there?
The_Vass_76@reddit
I’m going through Iowa. Haven’t really seen much besides some scales being open. Seems pretty tame.
Hot_Falcon8471@reddit
100% scales in Alaska are dropping the hammer
Revival-Waters@reddit
Texas is lit up.
Never seen this many weigh stations open before.
driver004@reddit
Almost every weigh station from Florida to New York pulled me in to scale me
Revival-Waters@reddit
Thats crazy.
What were they checking for?
Did they do any inspections ?
driver004@reddit
Some I didn’t see any inspections, some I saw a couple, some I saw a lot. Knock on wood but they’ve just wanted to check my weight so far
Revival-Waters@reddit
Ok, well that's good
COATHANGER_ABORTIONS@reddit
Saw a fuckload of cops and trucks pulled over on 35w southbound yesterday, cones everywhere and looked like inspections.
Revival-Waters@reddit
Yes, I know. And there was a guy commenting that Texas is normal. Probably DOT.
xenodine@reddit
Dot is spawn camping the loves at the 101 in Salinas ca and the on-ramp. Nevada has a ton of the jump scales open, and they’re going over the trucks with infrared and other stuff.
ID_Poobaru@reddit
State troopers are camping outside my Amazon warehouse
SuperReleasio64@reddit
Blitzing is happening all over the STL metro area right now. IL is not playing around over here.
flowermaneurope@reddit
I20 west, first scale house into Louisiana was busy this morning
nekaiser@reddit
Tulsa to Fredrick, MD over the past two days. Business as usual, but tbf, I’m overnighting. I’ve only seen a handful open as my shift ends in the mornings.
MostOriginalNameEver@reddit
The weight station in MS was actually open. So I guess that counts?
Free-University-6497@reddit
Got pulled at 95 South in MD this morning at like 7 AM alongside enough trucks to fill the lot. Guy was super chill tho, went well, I get a bonus, yeehaw.
Ipad207@reddit
Mobile scales in IL in elk grove village on busse right before Devon by the pilot.
Dave_Duna@reddit
I just had all my guys take either York or 390 over to Wiod Dale Rd.
Ipad207@reddit
Yup this is the way 🤣
CakewalkNOLA@reddit
Alabama was hard at work in the rest area on 10 east yesterday morning. Even had a couple of chase cars in the median for those who decided to just fly by.
1Stack_Mack@reddit
So far it's been a big nothing burger, and that's a good thing. I have 400 cases of Coors I have to get from Texarkana to Atlanta. I got a long way to go, and a short time to get there, but Big Enos is making that run worth my while! 💰
Tutorele@reddit
The boys are thirsty in Atlanta, and there's beer in Texarkana, eh?
1Stack_Mack@reddit
I'm gonna stop and get an El Diablo sammich
TypicalOcelot7933@reddit
And a doctor pepper
Amestopmodel@reddit
You better put that hammer down and give it hell!
1Stack_Mack@reddit
Keep your foot hard on the pedal, son nevermind them brakes. Let it all hang out, cause we gotta run to make!
DoTheHamsterDance@reddit
Don’t you know takin’ coots east of the Mississippi is bootleggin’?!
shadowmib@reddit
Well you better watch out, I just saw a Texas county mountie heading your way
1Stack_Mack@reddit
Watch old bandit run!
Otherwise_Emu_5019@reddit
What’s Texas county Mountie doing in Arkansas?
possibly_lost45@reddit
Arkansas is busy
Dry_Mobile1190@reddit
From what I've learned, the day before Blitz week starts is busier than blitz week itself
adidaman@reddit
Some of you and your beat up old clunkers with leaking air need a good level 1 inspection so you can be off our roads
nicerakk@reddit
Scale in Avoca, IA is doing level 1. Pulling all trucks in until their parking spaces are full. I-80 westbound
truckingham@reddit
I’ve seen a slight uptick in DOT activity in PA. Nothing major
gear_jammin_deer@reddit
There was a cop every 2 miles from the VA/NC line all the way up to VA exit 11 where I get off yesterday. I got pulled into a truckstop so the trooper could check my fuel, and there were 3 other trucks also being entertained by troopers in that truckstop.
AndromedanPrince@reddit
MS and AL state line. weigh stations open, AL rest area all trucks must enter and subject to inspection. Packed with troopers
valboots@reddit
As much as we all hate assholes with inflated egos, a minimum of 30% of all equipment are put out of service. Some might claim bullshit. But we've all seen the sketchy shit that are our fellow truck drivers. We need more enforcement to help bring trucking back to a sensible career, and hopefully the CVSE/MOT/DOT do it without ego and bullshit.
justaguynumber35765@reddit
Pleasant prairie been open for about 36 hours at the Wisconsin Illinois state line , like they do every year .
Auquaholic@reddit
Tennessee is getting it on right now.
Any-Comfortable-4888@reddit
Oklahoma lots of troopers at scales on 40.
NFLTG_71@reddit
Got Pulled in near Statesville North Carolina. They’re doing a level three inspection.
indytrucks@reddit
It’s all a psyop and they’re doing to next week. Got’em!
_lifeofkris@reddit
State line between Illinois and Wisconsin along 94. They got the plane up.
Dry_Manufacturer2545@reddit
TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY HAS A MASSIVE CHECKPOINT SETUP - 50+ TROOPERS DOING MASS LEVEL 1’s.
STAY SAFE DRIVERS.
R2Doucebag@reddit
Coming into Oklahoma from the Kansas Turnpike. All trucks must enter.
R-e-s-t@reddit
im driving in Texas.... same shit, nothing different.
Revival-Waters@reddit
Bro???
Im in Texas and I've never seen this many weight stations open. Look at the reports on Trucker Path app, this definitely isnt normal.
R-e-s-t@reddit
i mean im only running up and down 35.... both scales are operating normally...
Pretend_Ad_8465@reddit
I do know what part of Texas you are driving in but I30 and I35 are lit
MssMoodi@reddit
They've been doing that forever they'll tell you it's one week and then they don't do it for one or two weeks later so watch out guys. Be safe plz
rockypoint28457@reddit
I had CHP pull me in. He said it was all about grant money, and complained about paper work. No citations issued.
BreakOk2561@reddit
Naw, I’m at home on the couch.
tvieno@reddit
I-17 in Arizona yesterday. They were using the rest areas north of Camp Verde. I rolled through without issue.
I also saw a number of DOT with trucks in the Truck Only rest area south of Flagstaff.
_FearMose_@reddit
Yes. All the weigh stations from San Antonio (i10), Dallas (i45) to Houston were all open. I saw inspections all day from 0500 to when I drove home they were inspecting 3 trucks on i10 at 8pm in the dark. Texas is not playing this year
Few_Interaction1327@reddit
Even seeing them pull people into the one outside of Hearne on Hwy6, and then troopers pulling trucks over between Hempstead and College Station, but that's kind of normal.
Gonzotrucker1@reddit
I-20 Louisiana
shadowmib@reddit
I haven't really seen anything unusual so far.
buttweasel76@reddit
They've had trucks pulled over at the weigh stations on west bound I-4 by Tampa most nights I've gone by.
whats_a_corrado@reddit
Same stations that are always closed/open are exactly that. At least on my run I’m doing right now on the east coast. The same scales I drive by even when open have the same activity as usual. In my experience the whole blitz week stuff is always a huge nothingburger
Itiari@reddit
I hit a pop up inspection site yesterday, so yes.
Minimum-Jacket-705@reddit
Arizona Troppers are working the rest areas on both sides west of Flagstaff on I-40 and I have seen several trucks pulled over by troopers on the shoulder today. (Wednesday 5/13)
possibly_lost45@reddit
I69 north in Michigan. Coldwater scale has been busy.
TRexDriver@reddit
Im driving Pennsylvania to Nebraska. So far I have made it half way through Ohio and I haven't seen ANY weight stations open. And no inspection
Inside-Finish-2128@reddit
Keep in mind part of this is a PR play. Someone in government wrote a bill that provides funding for blitz. They want to "get credit" for writing that bill and drumming up support, so they make sure it's announced where lots of their constituents will hear about it. In turn, the various agencies get money to spend on overtime payroll so the inspections are more prevalent for a period of time.
Government wants the public to know about blitz week as much as if not more than blitzing actually happens.
goalmaster14@reddit
California was pulling almost everyone in on I5 between LA and Bakersfield yesterday. They did a full inspection on me even while bobtailing. They found a couple nit-picky things with a couple air hoses coming off the air tank after crawling all the way under and told me to get it fixed before grabbing my next load.
Cornfugga@reddit
Yeah I’ve seen a few mobile weigh stations and trucks being pulled over, but seems like nowhere near the scale of operations as years prior.
Socketz11@reddit
I got pulled into a pop up site in Alabama, a couple DOT, orange comes. I got waved through, but they had microscopes shoved up the ass of a few guys that were pulled over.
Sure_Try6958@reddit
DOT blitz doesn’t exist in New England unless you’re a hazmat load
Pitiful-MobileGamer@reddit
Ontario has been an assembly line, so many of our drivers have reported getting pulled in for level ones checking load integrity.
Islanderwithwings@reddit
Yes in the East coast as usual. I've seen some ICE agents too.
beavismorpheus@reddit
I just checked trucker path. Rare to see so many open or actively monitored. If you take highway 20 then you don't have to deal with Mitchellville or Avoca. Mostly flat, straight, 4 lane 65mph divided highway.
milkman819@reddit
Lots of DOT doing inspections in scale on 64 east of St. Louis. Of course its freshly rebuilt and reopened less than 2 weeks so they're trying to pay for the construction costs this week
Exact-Leadership-521@reddit
I seen a usually closed yard with a pad open with some cruisers parked. They had a couple bobtails stopped so I pulled up behind cause maybe they were stopping everyone. Couple loads crossed the scale and left so I idled around. Lunch break! Let 2 trucks sit mid inspection
C9Midnite@reddit
West bound 94 IL into WI scale was open all night had 5-6 cop cars out there.
tonythebutcher13@reddit
The usual ones that weren't open were open all last week, closed this week so far though.
deezkeys098@reddit
Na been driving all week weigh stations either closed or business as usual
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
Yep, haven't noticed any difference myself either
