Hi i bought my computer a couple years back. I basically play every game but mostly competitive stuff where i just want more fps like rust, fortnite, ecc.. I play on a 2k 240hz monitor so thats the target resolution and i have a 4070 super. Honestly i want to get close to the 240fps on nearly every game for example right now on rust i get 120-200 fps depending on where i am in the map, or like in Arc raiders i get 120-150 without using dlls on decent graphics setting. The question is is it worth it to upgrade to a better cpu, i was thinking about either a 7800x3d (just by reading forums and watching videos i saw that it was the most recommended) or the 7 9800x3d, but if you have any other cpu that you think is better ltk. Thanks

Hey, i was in the exact same boat.
I had a 5070 + 7600x, and I wanted to consistently hit 280hz
I upgraded to a 7800X3D and it fixed that immediately. Now i get 300-350fps with high 1% lows
I’d go for a 7800x3d, it could even run a 5090 without bottlenecking at 1440p
9800x3d is overkill, unless you have the extra money, I wouldn’t even bother

can i ask on which game are you getting those frames? so i can test on my pc

Rainbow Six Siege: 300-350fps Black Ops 7: 260-300fps Marvel Rivals: 280-300fps Dead by Daylight: 240fps (manually capped, could probably go higher)
I don’t play many story games, but I tried Hogwarts Legacy with ultra settings + ray tracing (framegen on) and was getting 200fps

7800x3D is enough. 9800X3D is like +5-10% for +75% price
