Non U.S. Car Guys, What is the Default Assumption People Have When They Hear You Like Cars?

In the United States if someone simply states they are in to cars, without being specific about which cars they’re interested in, the every day person may likely assume they love Ford, GM, or Chrysler muscle cars from the 60’s and 70’s. What is the equivalent to this in your country if there is one?

It depends on what the person looks like, corvette guys look the same no matter where you are in the world.

I'm from the US, so not sure if I can answer this question. But if I meet an Arab International student at car club, I will assume they're driving something with a V8 and rear wheel drive. Or a Lexus. Maybe both.

As a lifelong (and old) US car guy, this has never happened. No one assumes what car brand you have. Maybe in the NASCAR-focused south, where your car brand means something to other people. And I'm an exteme example of the opposite: there are very few car brands sold in the US that I have not owned.

I dont think there is a general default assumption, but id say most people will think classics (25-30+ year old cars), sports cars and modified cars
