Forgotten the ethnic cleansing that lead to air campaign?
Besmirching_Badger@reddit
Politics and propaganda led to the air campaign. Predominantly atrocity propaganda relating to the Racak incident. And allegedly a fear of refugees flooding into europe.
revisionist reporting on the balkans clusterfuck is really weird. It's like people vaguely know some crimes against humanity happened therefore it was all good and moral and justified and nothing really matters.
ForeignEchoRevival@reddit
There were trail at the ICC bro, don't bullshit us.
Besmirching_Badger@reddit
No there weren't. There were trials at the yugoslav tribunals because the ICC didn't exist. And those trials in themselves were somewhat farcical.
Again you vaguely know about some crimes against humanity and just extrapolate the rest
ForeignEchoRevival@reddit
I double checked and yeah, it was called the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY). And they were ran in The Hague, not the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The ICTY indicted 161 Serbian war criminals, so yeah...your only being half honest, I got the organization wrong, not the situation. Maybe don't commit mass murders and ethnic cleansing against neighboring nations.
PurpleMclaren@reddit
The air campaign on civilian targets since they were too scared to land troops? Gee sound familiar?
UN concluded there was no evidence of a systematic genocide, my father was on the frontlines for 4 years and never had orders to kill civilians, never heard of such thing happening either. They were there to protect people.
wq1119@reddit
I thought I was on /r/worldnews for a sec, seeing their exact same repetitive copypasta in here is just odd.
PurpleMclaren@reddit
You've seen a pasta on NATOs illegal bombing campaign? Care to share a link so I can see it myself
celloh234@reddit
Well now we know where hasbara takes its talking points from
wq1119@reddit
Serbia and Israel have very positive diplomatic and military relationships with one another, and will even manufacture combat drones together.
The Serbian Nationalist hatred of Muslims will always triumph the "West/NATO bad" internet memes, just like how Russia and Israel are still very close to one another, despite the third-worldist kayfabe of Russia being a savior to Palestine, when they didn't even save their own neighboring CTSO ally of Armenia from being ethnically cleansed by Azerbaijan.
Professional-Syrup-0@reddit
It’s crazy you are trying to make that “Serbia and Israel special relationships!” a thing while ignoring the actual case of that with German Israeli relations in which Germany is much more enabling to Israel than Serbia could ever hope to be.
But very fitting example of how Germany has successfully managed to smear off its own genocide history in others, because a few thousand people getting murdered as part of Yugoslavia falling apart is pretty much the same like the Holocaust
wq1119@reddit
Absolutely nowhere I denied that Germany (I did not even mention it) is instrumental in enabling Israel's crimes, Serbia however is not an anti-Israel country at all, and elevating them to the status of the now long-gone Yugoslavia as the anti-Western saviors of the oppressed third world is not good praxis.
I am not a Western imperialist CIA shill and whatnot, and I constantly criticize them as well, you're not going to get a gotcha at me by criticizing Western governments that I have no respect for.
MaestroRozen@reddit
Serbian people (actual people, not corrupt politicians) are overwhelmingly in support of Iran/Palestine due to the whole "Western imperialist force killing civilians en masse" thing hitting too close to home. Which you'd know if your knowledge of Serbia went beyond Western propaganda. Funny enough, if you want to find support for the US in the region, that'd be the Kosovo Albanians due to US being the main factor why their so-called state even exists in the first place. Which leads to Bosnian Muslims turning on them, because they feel solidarity with Iranian/Palestinian people for obvious reasons. Balkan politics are hilarious sometimes.
wq1119@reddit
Yes this is true, I never said otherwise, the same applies to the majority of the world, the public reputation of Israel is in the gutter to the civilian population, but countries are held hostage by their governments.
"Western propaganda" is when the Serbian government itself ballwashes Israel, got it.
"So-called state" Jesus Christ, de-legitimizing state aspirations of oppressed ethnic groups is how we get artificial abominations like Israel in the first place, it doesn't matters if a state is propped up by either the West or East, the aspirations of ethnic groups shouldn't be downplayed just because it just so happens that you disagree with the geopolitically.
Next up you're going to tell me that ~~Palestine~~ Ukraine is an artificial state that was created by the ~~British~~ Soviets, that ~~Palestinians~~ Ukrainians are not and have never been a real ethnic group, and that they're all ~~anti-semites~~ fascists who were founded by ~~Amin Al-Husseini~~ Stepan Bandera.
Professional-Syrup-0@reddit
Okay, according to that same logic nobody should get in the way of the people of Crimea, Donbas and Luhansk following their aspirations to self-determination and ultimately statehood, right?
Yet there your summary of the situation suddenly takes a lot of liberties to delegitimise the very same right to self determination the West so readily grants to Kosovo Albanians, yet not Kurds, Catalonians or even the Irish.
wq1119@reddit
At least to me, no.
MaestroRozen@reddit
Yes, and the very next day those same people will compare the "abuse" government supporters are receiving from anti-regime protests to the unimaginable suffering of civilians in Gaza. I wish I was making this up - but those were actual, honest words of our dear ~~Fuhrer~~ President on the national television. You quickly learn to not take anything they say seriously around these parts. "If I play all sides I'm bound to end up on a winning one" - Vučić, probably.
There is a difference between people who have no homeland other than the one invaders are trying to kick them out of, and people who are minorities in another country but do have a homeland of their own. Do Ukrainians have a country other than Ukraine? Do Palestinians have a country other than Palestine? Even with the Ustasa situation - what country do the Serbs have other than Serbia? Albania is a country. They demanding Kosovon is akin to, say, southern US territories with a large Latino populations demanding to be independent and to have closer ties to Mexico than they do with the US, all while abusing the white Americans living in thr area in an attempt to bully them into leaving. Would the US just sit by and let it happen? And that's without even mentioning the historical and cultural importance of Kosovo to the Serbian people, which cannot be overstated, and which is why any self-respecting Serb with even a shred of national pride ledt will never accept it.

The amount of strike throughs is something else. 😂
NationCrusher@reddit
I’m friends with a veteran who talked about people using severed heads as a soccer ball.
I’ve met Muslims that had to invoke permission to allow abortions from Serbian rape because of how prevalent it was.
You can argue that war is bad but you can literally find people alive right now that experienced coordinated cruelty (you know. A genocide)
Heck, Israel even got caught smuggling weapons into Serbia because of their campaigns against Muslims.
Professional-Syrup-0@reddit
You are friends with a useful idiot who still believes 30 years old blatant agitprop.
It’s like the tales of mineshafts full of naked bodies: Everybody knew they were a thing because Western reporters kept making stuff up like that fed to them by the UCK, yet never was a mineshaft full of dead body actually found.
And then American soldiers, like your veteran friend, buy into it to rationalise their illegal actions as part of an illegal war of aggression against what remained of Yugoslavia.
Not too different from how Iraq allegedly had to be invaded because Saddam was allegedly doing horrible thing to his people, another lie in addition to the many ones about Iraqi WMD or alleged Iraqi involvement with 9/11.
These American wars have resulted in the deaths of literally millions of Muslims the world over, murdered with drones, tortured in prisons, created dozens of millions of refugees with an axe to grind against the West.
Yet here you are suddenly trying to act like Muslims are considered so super precious by the same Americans who for most of the early 2000s kept calling them “sand ni**ers” and literally created pig laced bullets to “send them to hell properly”.
MaestroRozen@reddit
And that's why intentionally bombing residential areas, cultural centres and journalists that were nowhere near military targets was totally justified! If you answer a war crime with another, that doesn't make you right. It only makes it so that now there are two war criminals present - except an American war criminal will never answer before an international court whether it's Serbia, Iraq, Iran or any other "peace intervention".
celloh234@reddit
you're arguing in defence of a war crime denier because another guy mentioned U.S you cannot be real bro
MaestroRozen@reddit
No, I'm arguing that there is no defense to war crimes regardless of who's committing them.
celloh234@reddit
my bad i jumped to a conclusion
PurpleMclaren@reddit
Amen
PurpleMclaren@reddit
I literally said terrible things happened, fucked up people did fucked up things.
Keep virtue signalling though american, take attention away from your current warcrimes.
meister2983@reddit
He said ethnic cleansing, not genocide. You switched the subject
PurpleMclaren@reddit
I quickly read through it, cant find mention of the JNA, they accuse Serbian paramilitaries of carrying such acts which is what I was referencing to when I said fucked up people doing fucked up things. I never said that terrible things didnt happen.
meister2983@reddit
Again it seems like you're running on technicalities. Whether the government made paramilitaries do things versus the JNA doesn't really change the government's culpability. Either way the UN wanted the JNA out, so clearly there was some problem.

You mean the atrocity propaganda fabricated by NATO countries to justify waging an illegal war of aggression and in-going illegal occupation of Serbian territory by NATO soldiers to this day?
Or have the Germans finally found an actual “Horseshoe plan” they didn’t fabricate?
It’s why according to the UN Kosovo is about as sovereign as Donbas is: Not at all
Yet most Western people act like it’s a-okay when NATO attacks and occupies places outside of alliance territory to enable secessionist movements and “balkanise” a few more countries.
cmuratt@reddit
It good that you have not forgotten. It will make you think twice before running an ethnic cleansing campaign again.

"This is an important training activity. It will be hosted by Serbia and conducted in full respect of Serbia's stated policy of military neutrality," a NATO official told AFP ahead of the exercise.
Serbia buying weapons from NATO countries, Russia and China will never not be funny. Plus now mass producing drones with Israel.
Radiant-Fly9738@reddit
As a Bosnian, Serbia arming itself is never funny.
