What is the best way to get 2 people from Cambridge to Liverpool with a level of style?

I have two people who need to travel from Cambridge to Liverpool for a special occasion.
Ideally it would be via a long distance taxi company that would allow alcoholic drinks onboard for the journey.
The train is possible but it is a few changes and there will be luggage.
I did look at a more high-end chauffeur service but it was the best part of a £1000.
Any ideas or recommendations?

I think your best option is a chauffeur service, check around for quotes from different companies
I would think you could find something more competitively priced, would recommend checking both Cambridge and Liverpool based services
Limo is a bit tacky so would avoid!

Stretch limos are tacky but normal ones are nice. Nobody sensible is hiring a stretch for 2 people. Just as long as OP doesn't hire a stretch Hummer though, that would be utterly unforgivable.

Lol absolutely fair point!

Where is the nearest airport to Cambridge? Flights should be less than £1000.

Stansted, so probably pretty feasible to do something like Stansted to Dublin then Dublin to Liverpool
redbullcat@reddit
As it's Stansted you'd technically be flying London-London.
Cambridge does have Cambridge City Airport but it doesn't offer publicly scheduled fights, only corporate and chartered flights.

Sounds like you want an 'executive car' service local to Cambridge.

Pre-book a black cab style taxi? Plenty of space for two, nothing stopping you having some drinks.
CicadaSlight7603@reddit
Black cabs tend to have poor or tight suspension so if this route has any minor roads in it it will be quite a bumpy unpleasant trip IME.
Personally I would look into first class train travel. It’s not luxury but first class is more comfortable and less crowded, you can drink wine on board and get snacks etc, maybe provide them with a nice picnic. Do fortnum’s still prepare picnics with advance notice?

Except the taxi driver

Why would the cabbie stop you eating or drinking on a 3-hour journey? How wasted are you planning to get??

Flexi-bus, get smashed on the bus, hang around some plebs (might be good for them) and donate the rest to charity.
Trust me they will feel way better after doing this.

Your best bet might be to either hire a nice car and chauffeur them, or find a friend with a nice car and see if they’d be willing to chauffeur in return for some cash

The fancier the more expensive. So if £1000 is out of budget for a 200 mile drive you might be limited on choice here.
