I'm thinking about getting a CBT and buying a motorbike then saving up for a car but I've never driven a motorbike before or really like probably drove in Birmingham before I lost my car a year and a half ago so thought I'd ask if it's recommended.

How far do you have to travel regularly?

It varies with my job but usually between 4 and 9 miles.

If your wanting to save money, a decent ebike might fill this requirement. Do not get the cheapest one you can but something like a 1 or 2k in terms of price. You will then save loads on insurace and fuel.
You could also do this distance on a normal bike, if in decent health and no massive hills in the way.

Start with a scooter

Id ask yourself why do you want a motorbike over an e bike.
Depending where you are and where your going the canals can make a great way of getting around.

This is a great shout. Always found the canal paths to be a safer place to be than the roads in Brum.

Yeah do it, motorbikes are great.

You most certainly shouldn't buy something with an engine from Birmingham, so at the very least buy one from somewhere else.

Between the potholes, the British weather and the absolute maniacs who drive around Birmingham, I personally wouldn't...
Evening-Tomatillo-47@reddit
Aye just take a jump off something high and save time. I'm not overly keen on driving a van through Birmingham

I wouldn’t get one in Birmingham as I don’t live there. Seriously, an eBike is a better option. Motorbikes are expensive for a decent one and with insurance etc. and the cost of a licence it’s not worth it if you eventually want a car. I wanted a scooter, in Newcastle, but over the long term it was easier to just get a car licence …

Brum brum

I wouldn’t, honestly. Not just Birmingham either. I used to ride and got knocked off multiple times by drivers just not looking. Too many people are distracted, rushing, cutting lanes, pulling out without checking properly, and on a bike you come off worse every single time. It might be cheaper than a car, but you’re paying for it in risk.
