BA1497 birdstrike

I was flying from Glasgow>Heathrow yesterday morning (BA1497). Didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary until we entered the usual hold during descent and the captain announced that there was a minor technical issue with the aircraft. He continued that we’d be making a normal landing but stopping on a taxiway for The Fire Service to inspect the front of the plane.
Played out exactly as planned. Normal approach/landing, we stopped for 5 minutes or so then taxied to a remote stand and disembarked. I presume it happened on takeoff/climb out and they decided to continue. Great job by the crew and Fire Service!

Why does the fire service inspect the aircraft?

Standard procedure for Fire and Airport Operations to come out if the crew wants to stop on an active runway/taxiway due to a technical issue.

Making sure it's not on fire, obviously.

Because they're bored and this is the closest thing to real action they've seen in weeks.
