I mean here’s another solution, earn your stripes like everyone else, I have a cushy job at usps but I also put in 2.5 years of foodservice. Why should you get a free pass?
Old-Pear7303@reddit
Damn yall a bunch of boot lickers, the billionaires who own these companies didn’t get there by being fair, nice or following rules, and you’re gonna put “being righteous” following rules and “doing the right thing” above feeding you and your family? lol Gtfo lie about literally everything all the time as long as you can cover your ass, you’re good.
InterestingMatter506@reddit
You can find a job to take care of your family without lying? Lmfao.
Charlie_Hustler@reddit
Yessir kind of lol.
I used to work at YRC as a dock worker before we shutdown. I got my CDL afterwards from a CC and landed my 1st job doing local linehaul. After my 1yr was up I went out and applied to one of the big LTL carriers and was invited for an interview. Their requirements were for 1yr of xp to drive for them but I wanted to make myself look better so I boosted my xp. Instead of 1yr of dock worker at YRC I put that I was a P&D driver for 1yr. This way now it would look like I had 2yrs of xp and was familiar with P&D on the LTL side.
They invited me for an interview and I talked my magic. I mainly tried to talk up ny linehaul xp and only added the fake P&D xp just a little. Regardless tho they really liked me and said I had a great personality and that they think I'd be a perfect fit. 2 weeks later I get my offer letter and start filling out employment forms. Obviously I had to add my fake xp in aswell. 1 month after starting with the company. They said they needed to verify my past employment and this is where my lie kinda fell apart. I say kinda cuz I came close to getting caught. I managed to convince them that since YRC shutdown I had no contacts left and the only thing I could verify at the time was my 1yr of real xp. They bought It and didn't ask much once they verified my 1yr of real xp.
I am now on year 2 at this company and nobody ever asks about my fake xp and I ended up getting away with my lies 🐍

Ive had my license for over 10+ years, I lie on my application for recent experience. Wtf am I gonna put? I lived in vietnam for 3 years not working?
No, I put my dad's company and say i worked for him. If they call him, he says yeah I worked for him, and im a good driver.
Even after not working for x amount, I still can drive no problem. Just most places wont hire me cause I go on long periods of not driving due to getting one or two tickets that ruin my perfect record. I got a 15 over in cali and a seat belt ticket in Ohio and a lot of companies said "you have too much risk, we have tons of other applicants that dont get any tickets, good luck on your search". Over a few tickets. No dui, no accident on my record. But, doesnt matter cause all the really good jobs are given to guys with perfect records and have continuous employment.
I can drive stick and go through mountains / road most guys dont want to do though. Ill drive through any blizzard and ice conditions. Thats the difference between other drivers and me. Ill come back for work during the winter when people actually want drivers. I have my twic card, and hazmat. Ill get work when I want to work.

I've stretched the truth on applications. Left off very short terms with companies while on layoff with main. No point in showing i worked somewhere for 3 weeks then got called back to better outfit.
wavy_moltisanti@reddit
You’ll be alright for any local job, most otr will hassle you
AgapeAnus@reddit
It's generally unwise and most places will throw out your application for good if they catch you doing it
polarjunkie@reddit
In addition, most companies use the same three or four companies to meet DOTs verification requirements and they store that information for your lifetime. Everything you put on every application going forward has to match.
AgapeAnus@reddit
It at least has to be close. Like if you omit a fast food job you had for a few months as a teen or 20 something they're probably not going to care. They're mostly interested in verifying your driving history when under DOT/FMCSA regulations and relevant experience because that matters from an insurance and liability standpoint. If you only have six months experience and you tell them you have a year they're putting you in the do not hire pile. If you tell them you have a clean MVR and you had a DUI three years ago, same thing.
I told my most recent employer I had a squeaky clean MVR and they told me I had a seatbelt ticket in my personal vehicle from six years and ten months ago. I still got the job because that's still a really clean MVR but yes they do check anything related to driving to the fullest extent.
tasselledwobbegong1@reddit
And most insurance companies don’t care about stuff 6 years ago. And that’s what matters…..insurability. It’s just that your state was still hanging it on your driving record and some ocd anal office worker who likes busting drivers balls was like yeah I saw what you did almost 7 years ago.
fusillijhericurl@reddit
Youre gonna get busted
Curious_Ad7023@reddit (OP)
How so
angry-santa-guy@reddit
Employment verification through back ground checks is an issue id imagine.
Curious_Ad7023@reddit (OP)
The employment verification is just them calling whatever number you provide them. If you put your friends phone number down they could just “verify” you’ve worked for them for c amount of time
polarjunkie@reddit
That's not how it works in this industry. Dot requires written verification for all of your experience for the last 3 years and all of your driving experience for the last 10 years. There are 3 or 4 very large companies that provide this verification as a service to carriers and most carriers use this. They check everything on the company as well as verify in writing the exact dates you worked there and what equipment you drove and then they put that in their database so you have to put the exact same stuff on your next application as well.
TKO621@reddit
Maybe at other jobs that's all they do but your employment record when is comes to trucking is regulated by DOT. Trucking companies are required by law to report the day you start working and the day you quit.
Delicious_Peace_2526@reddit
You can lie about why you got a ticket… my buddy lost a steel coil on the road and got charged with “insecure load”. He told his next employer that his broom was bungee corded to the frame of his truck and dot required a strap with a working load limit so they charged him with insecure load.
MikeBinfinity@reddit
You really cant lie about past employment when it comes to CDL jobs. They can go back and verify the past 10 years of any CDL job you had.
You can technically lie about what kind of equipment you operated, but jobs can verify that to. You can't say you have 3 years of flatbed experience when it shows you worked a Sia for the past two years.
Joeybowman@reddit
When I was 22 in orientation for my first trucking job they pulled me aside and asked why I didn’t include a job I had for two months bagging groceries when I was 16 on my application. 🤷🏼♂️
FloppyTacoflaps@reddit
I did but I had tons of experience driving already just embellished my oversized experience in a different country a bit lol
thebugman40@reddit
I did. the job required hazmat. when i applied and told the truth I heard nothing back. so I reapplied and put down that I had hazmat and got a call the next day. I told them at the beginning of the interview that I did not have it yet but would get the endorsement if I was interested in the position. it was not an issue. it really depends on what you are lying about and why. don't take unnecessary risks.
MostOriginalNameEver@reddit
You might get caught, you might not. Depends on how diligent they are in vetting you
jabber1990@reddit
Ive left stuff off my application , they still found out
jabber1990@reddit
I did, they actually knew but hired me anyway because they doubted I would have stayed
NorthP503@reddit
I’ve been a reference for a lot of friends at a fake contracting company multiple times. They aren’t applying for serious enough jobs that they could catch it, but I’ve done the 4 times.
They’ve all got the jobs.
I’ve just always said they’re my best worker, punctual, blah blah
jmzstl@reddit
At my first driving job, the background check company flagged a discrepancy in my 10 year employment history from when I was a cashier at a grocery store. I put down that I had been continuously employed, but the store reported a gap during a period when I was on leave for school.
It didn't affect the job offer in my case, but it was something they flagged for the hiring manager to review.
Free-University-6497@reddit
CDL work is not the field to do this in. They will check your dates with your employers 100%.
WW903@reddit
As long as you’re not contradicting your DAC report, you’ll be fine
FindMateStraightFux@reddit
No I tried being a man
chocolate_asshole@reddit
if you mean adding like 3-6 months you dont actually have, companies barely check that in driving. but if you say you have 2 years solo and you really got 6 months, youre playing with lawsuits and insurance issues. risk is higher now too, nobody wants to hire so they nitpick everything and still wont call back. finding work is a pain right now
