Rtx 5070ti or 2k monitor first?

Currently im using rtx5070, im consider upgrading to rtx 5070ti.. but currently i just playing on 1080p monitor.. please help me to make the decision whether to upgrade my gpu or monitor first.. both upgrading gpu and monitor need the same amount of money

Upgrade the monitor.
I have a 5070 with a 1440p monitor (280hz OLED) and it runs beautifully.
5070 is perfect for 1440p gaming, 5070ti is good if you want to start moving into 4k territory.
5070ti is pretty overkill for 1080p

May I ask what ‘beautifully’ means in your opinion?
I am running a 5080 on 5120x1440 (240Hz, OLED) and while it looks stunning, the performance can be a bit subpar on latest games (60-85 fps) in CP2077 at Overdrive preset.

5120x1440p is significantly different to 2560x1440p. It’s actually twice the resolution.
You would be getting much more fps on a normal 1440p monitor
Azoraqua_@reddit
That’d be true, of course. I am mostly curious about the comparison.
Jealous_Mastodon1854@reddit
Well at 1440p for me with medium to high setting on story games, i get between 120-160fps
On competitive games, i easily pass 280fps, with high 1% lows
It is an ideal 1440p card IMO

That’s lovely, I am not sure about 1440p itself, my aim is towards 4-5K (I do have an Apple Studio Display that is 5K but that’s for graphics design).

70-70ti prob too much for too little bump

I worried about the vram or there is nothing to be worry of?
Azoraqua_@reddit
VRAM can be an issue but usually it’s a bit overrated. You can always lower a setting or two to counter it a bit. Get a nice, high quality monitor and I think you’d be much happier.

Thank youu
Azoraqua_@reddit
Notice how it immediately got a downvote? That is almost certainly due to mentioning VRAM being overrated these circles tend to be allergic to these things.
Use it as a warning, as it gives a severely biased judgement. VRAM can be important but it’s not that important usually.

Real bro, 12GB is fine. I was playing Hogwarts Legacy 1440p ultra settings with ray tracing on and it was at 10gb vram.
16gb+ is only usually needed if you’re going 4k I reckon
Azoraqua_@reddit
You are right, with the nuance that it differs per game and the GPU itself.
sunkenwhalebones@reddit
Nah won't be a problem. 12 GB is completely fine.

Thank youu
Ozi-reddit@reddit
you'll be fine

Thankk youu

2k oled first.
TheDregn@reddit
You already have a 1080p monitor, upgrading it to another 1080p (2k) wouldn't make much difference I guess.
Azoraqua_@reddit
I can definitely conclude that I am spoiled when my first thought was why it’s even a consideration to get a 2k monitor - then realized it was referring to the resolution.
I’d say the monitor is way more important. The 5070 and 5070 Ti are barely different, even a 5080 wouldn’t be too much of an upgrade (although more than 5070 Ti).
If possible, I’d look into a 4K monitor if possible or even OLED; I think that OLED could be a significant improvement.
Slow_Switch3847@reddit
Hey there, just another person confirming what's already been said.
Monitor, 100%. The performance bump isn't worth the money, unless you'd have gone with a 5080, and a 4k monitor.
A 1440p panel will work lovely with your 5070, and heck, don't forget you have DLSS and mfg if you really need more FPS
ChilliBaconSandwich@reddit
Get an oled monitor.

1440p monitor
Unless you get the 5070ti for an amazing deal and sell your 5070 for a good amount of money.. doesn't sound worth the uplift
HotConstruction677@reddit
i would suggest the monitor upgrade first. 5070 is already good enough for up to 4k(had used a 4070 with 4k for over a year)
