Processed American cheese is indestructible. Four minutes in the microwave? Nothing more than the kiss of a light breeze to patriot cheese.
BAKEDxCAKE@reddit
I’ve had a brand that didn’t melt.
barillamanilaolives@reddit
Is it really? Tell me more
fake_fakington@reddit
Throw a slice on a hot flat top grill. It will eventually melt, but it will maintain its square shape. From there it will be a contest of will between you and the cheese as to who will break first.

4 minutes....I can only imagine the immediate CRONCH when that tortilla starts cooling within 15 seconds...ugh. Not a good cronch either, it'll be leathery and crunchy in all the wrong places! D:

It was either crispy or soft surprisingly. The outer one was like a softer water cracker.
alazystoner420@reddit
What the heck is a water cracker
permalink_save@reddit (OP)
Um, no way to really describe it, it's just flour and water so they are harder but not necessarily crispier? Idk anything comparable other than my tortilla
Turbulent-Matter501@reddit
ok this is hilariously stupid
Forsaken_Sundae_4315@reddit
Are you sure 4 minutes is enough to kill it?
creamypoops@reddit
Damn 4 minutes that gonna have dry edges
permalink_save@reddit (OP)
Tbey actually got crispy
creamypoops@reddit
Respect
somewherein72@reddit
It does appear that you've done that.

4 minutes... That's a brick now
Fit-Initiative3958@reddit
bro that sounds like a masterpiece lol like melt city on a tortilla… gotta give it a try, do you dip it in anything?
permalink_save@reddit (OP)
I would not suggest it or at least ensure the middle has full coverage. There was a gap of cheese and that caused the crunch dome

It looks like a gigantic zit. I feel sick looking at it.

If that’s what your zits look like then you should seek immediate medical attention.

The paper towel part was chewy
Geta211@reddit
How was the tortilla edible?

What made you choose 4 minutes when 45 seconds to a minute would have been enough to melt and possibly start to burn the cheese?
permalink_save@reddit (OP)
i wanted to see what it was like if it microwaved more. It wasn't too bad except the very center.
GrayGarghoul@reddit
Four minutes is for cheddar, American cheese doesn't let the grease boil out the right way, too emulsified.
Evening_Froyo_7506@reddit
It almost looks like a nipple.
No-Scarcity-5904@reddit
Almost?🧐
LukaIncic@reddit
Why does it looks like huge popped pimple lmao

You make prisoners in central America weep and enjoy their food
fschwiet@reddit
Personally I like some crunchy cheese
permalink_save@reddit (OP)
Yeah that's what I was going for, blending into the tortilla and crisping up, it kind of worked but not really too
fschwiet@reddit
What surprised me when I first ordered quesadillas in Mexico is they'd cook the cheese directly on the gridle or pan then add the tortilla later. I remember the cook asking me if I like the cheese browned (I forget the exact word) and realized I never even realized that was an option.
But anyhow, next time you may want to try that to avoid overcooking the tortilla at the same time. Though I did go to a place where they left the tortilla covered with the cheese on the grill long enough it was all brown and crunchy and that was pretty good too.

I thought about doing that, it's so good. I was just being lazy. At one point I actually posted a quesadilla with the tortillas were that crispy pan cheese. It was actually really good, just a bit greasy.

My little sister and I pretty much lived off of these during the times when my mom and dad would go off on their drug and alcohol fueled benders.
