Remember kids, inflation is taxation without representation.
JmunE204@reddit
The government having the power to severely effect Americans’ financial situation so easily is the biggest issue here.
When the government controls the money/interest rates/other fed levers, they can essentially reach into its citizens wallets at will without a vote.
Gotta fix that before anything else can be fixed
MaverickNORCAL@reddit
Thats some victim mindset if ive ever seen one.
RedAnonymous6350@reddit
Have you ever seen one?
AlphaTangoFoxtrt@reddit
I mean maybe one dickhead shouldn't have the unilateral power to declare war?
Fuck off. We are at war with Iran. Any reasonable person would say the current conflict is a war. We are attacking each other. Iran is attacking our allies. We are at war.
It's a stupid fucking war at the behest of Israel. And remember Israel will fight to the last American.
Cowrekted@reddit
I think the real question is why did congress give its powers to one dickhead? They should've never passed the Tonkin Gulf or War Powers resolution. At least with the senate any war declaration will be filibustered if they cant invoke cloture and vote. Also didn't congress vote for us to join all the international organizations that make actually declaring war basically impossible?
HeinousEncephalon@reddit
Leaving out the part he said he only cares about Iran not having nukes is shitty, but no where near as shitty as him not considering Americans suffering during negotiations.
shabamsauce@reddit
While I agree with the sentiment, are yall suffering? I am fine. I have noticed zero difference.
AlphaTangoFoxtrt@reddit
Bro if gas prices being up 40% does not impact you, I don't know what to tell you.
I mean I'm still ok, but I did change a few habits.notably the weather is warmer so I'm taking the motorcycle much more. 65 mpg looks pretty damn good.
montblanc87@reddit
How old are you?
Respectfully, I keep hearing about the recent surge in gas prices when from 2008-2011 gas prices were easily as high as they are now.
Im super old and I remember when some gas stations were shut down for charging $10 a gallon after war was declared in Iraq.
This shit aint new and nothing ever happens.
AlphaTangoFoxtrt@reddit
Dude what the actual fuck are you talking about "nothing happened"?
The 2008 election say the Democrats gain 8 senators, 21 house seats, and the presidency .
2010 saw Republicans gain 6 Senate seats and 63 house seats.
Both electronics were massive defeats for the incumbent party.
CCWaterBug@reddit
Fwiw, I don't recall any libertarian seats being added.
AlphaTangoFoxtrt@reddit
Ok? I never said they did. Homeboy said "Nothing Ever Happens" I noted that there was a massive shift in congress during BOTH years.
shabamsauce@reddit
I think they meant nothing new ever happens. Which, I am almost 40 and I only remember gas ever being cheap once and it put a lot of folks out where I am From out of work.
JnnyRuthless@reddit
I'm 46 and remember gas being cheaper 3 months ago. What are you talking about? And you like high gas prices because it creates work? Again, what are you talking about?
montblanc87@reddit
I have no idea what you are trying to say here. Connect the dots for me.
Cowrekted@reddit
i mean i nearly die every time i have to pump diesel
CCWaterBug@reddit
Like ambulance nearly dying?
Maybe you're doing it wrong.
Cowrekted@reddit
Good point. I'd just die from the medical bills atp
CCWaterBug@reddit
No insurance? That would be a mistake.
RailLife365@reddit
Same here. Profits are up, so what's the problem? I actually prefer that the president and government don't think about my finances. Lol
shabamsauce@reddit
I guess the only reason I said anything is because it was that the post seemed so hyperbolic. Someone said something to the effect of, “You didn’t notice gas prices going up?” To be honest, I did. I filled up my truck and it went from its typical $100 to $110. Which I get if someone works in transportation that hurts folks bottom line. Is that suffering though? Or is that someone’s financial situation being slightly worse?
I am curious as to how this thing is going to play out and if the United States will be in a better geopolitical situation.
RailLife365@reddit
Lol It's funny you mention filling up at the gas station. The other day my son and I stopped for fuel, and he wanted to pump it, but when it was full the dollar amount was at $98.90. He gasped and asked me if that was right. 🤣 My child's surprise at the amount (which wasn't really more than a few dollars higher than usual) is how I imagine everyone acting that keep on whining about it.
Explic11t@reddit
This statement would have gone over better if you just said, "fuck poor people".
RailLife365@reddit
We each have all the same opportunities as anyone else. I was poor once, and I didn't like it. So now I'm not, or at least I don't feel as poor as I did then. Am I a millionaire or anything? Nope, not even close! Lol I think "poor" is a relatively subjective term.
However, I did accept that it was my own doing what was keeping me from where I wanted to be financially. After that epiphany, then a few more years of struggling and making better choices, I was finally able to start having money left over at the end of each month that was actually mine.
Fast forward another fifteen years, and now I don't have to worry every minute about things pertaining to money. I don't live lavishly, heck my main vehicle is old enough to vote! Lol But it runs pretty well, and if it needs any major repairs I can afford to fix it without picking which bill I wouldn't be paying that month.
shabamsauce@reddit
I am no where close to rich.
veryicy@reddit
You won't be if the strait doesn't reopen.
shabamsauce@reddit
I mean I guess.
CCWaterBug@reddit
Fwiw, the trump tax cuts have been a net positive for me, for years and years
RailLife365@reddit
Same here.
CCWaterBug@reddit
I love the downvotes, the alternarive is higher and higher and higher taxes.
Parabellum12@reddit
Not it’s not, those two things are not mutually exclusive. You can have both.
CCWaterBug@reddit
What two things?
All I said was that I saved money with the tax cuts.
RailLife365@reddit
We had higher profits in 2025, and paid less in taxes than we did in 2024! Lol I'm definitely not upset.
MaverickNORCAL@reddit
Things are going well for me, sucks to suck.
RailLife365@reddit
Yeah, the economy must be doing really well because our sales are up and keep climbing with less marketing. Also, businesses we deal with and friends I have that own their own businesses are growing like crazy. Construction is up, there are more jobs available than there are people to fill them, and everything is going great.
I actually prefer that the president doesn't worry about my finances. Lol That means I can do more with what is mine!
Parabellum12@reddit
Mom must be proud.
Toamtocan@reddit
Misquoted.
UsuallySatire@reddit
Just to be clesr they were asking specifically about when he was negotiating with Iran.
The left is chopping this whole thing to bits and it undermines their own efforts.
You should go look at the whole paragraph at least.
_Sneaky_McSnek_@reddit
It doesn’t make it any better. Why tf do I care if Iran has nukes? Esp when everyone knows that’s not why the US bombed them.
UsuallySatire@reddit
Because it discredits the ppl saying and following it.
If you're going to report a quote, explain the entire situation instead of mass shitting out half truths to make it look worse.
It's bad enough without cutting the entirety of the situation into a few words, like you mentioned... we already know why the US bombed them.
Flatland_Exile@reddit
This is why sound money matters. When purchasing power can be inflated away, people pay the cost long before they understand the cause.
cleverkid@reddit
Well, as a wise man once said, "it's the economy stupid"
