help with starting UP PC please
Posted by StormShadow277@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 32 comments
I just built my PC and it took 6+ hours cuz I never did it before.
I thought I broke the GPU and the Q latch too but it works fine.
XFX swift Radeon Rx 9070 xt.
Now, I booted into BIOS and enabled EXPO. What do I do now ? I have the BIOS file ready on a 32 flash drive too.
I do not have win 11 yet.
Urgent help needed please

Bios updates can probably wait, you’ll need to create a bootable windows usb key. Use another computer to download and create the key with this tool https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2156295

Does the drive need to be FAT32 or what ? I have reformatted it.
JazzlikeInfluence813@reddit
That tool will format the drive for you

Thanks. Already doing it. Also, where do I see the GPU in the BIOS ? I can't find it and I'm panicking cuz of the mistakes I did while installing. Luckily didn't break that 700€ card

Is the display cable plugged into the gpu or the motherboard currently?

I also nearly messed up the Thermalright phantom spirit 120 digital Evo installation and took a long time but now in BIOS, CPU temp is at 39°C. I used more than just a pea size. Tried to put a little dot on the main dot. And a few much smaller dots around it as it's a Ryzen 7 9800x3d and idk if this temp is normal.
JazzlikeInfluence813@reddit
Did you remove the sticker?
StormShadow277@reddit (OP)
Yes.
JazzlikeInfluence813@reddit
Get drivers all installed and then run synthetic test benches or stress tests with a monitoring software hwinfo64 can log sensor data and see what your max temps for everything are

After a tons of drivers and such, I ended up totally removing armory crate. Will use something else for argb later. The ONE main issue I'm having is, no matter what updates I do, windows security shows bitdefender needs update. Shows the red cross. I tried restarting that, deleting files in the distribution folder, resetting etc. Same result. I'm now reinstalling/repairing bitdefender. I can't find a solution to this yet.
JazzlikeInfluence813@reddit
Don’t use bit-defender, windows defender is good enough these days
StormShadow277@reddit (OP)
Well, I have 180+ days left, for 3 devices so I'm using it for now. Reinstalling it fixes all issues. I don't know how to test stuff in other ways. I can only test game performance once FFXIV finishes downloading
JazzlikeInfluence813@reddit
You can use a stress test tool and monitor temps of the whole system with hwinfo64. I like this online stress test personally because it works on almost anything without any downloads

I have hwinfo64 and CPUUID installed. They seem fine. Temps fluctuate between 37 - 40 without doing anything heavy. A bit of browsing, idle, basic stuff checks etc. Will try these out. HWinfo64 shows some hypervisor enabled message tho. I don't know if that's gonna be an issue.
JazzlikeInfluence813@reddit
That’s fine, just means that hyper v is enabled

Thanks again for all the help in getting this PC ready, man. So far it's all good.
JazzlikeInfluence813@reddit
Glad to hear! Hope you got some sleep haha

After enabling 180Hz, tweaking adrenalin a bit and setting max hz 1 less than max allowed and doing some tests, it runs buttery smooth. 160fps in-game I guess it won't go down much during heavy loads. As it is right now it's 57-60c for both GPU and CPU. No overclocks or UV. CPUID bench gave 817 single and 8356.4 multi thread. Anything else I need to touch ? I did not set custom fan curves or anything. Not even custom argb.
JazzlikeInfluence813@reddit
If it’s stable and your happy I wouldn’t touch it any further
StormShadow277@reddit (OP)
Alright. Also, Temps went down more. 48-50. Max it goes is 60c for now. Mostly stays chill.
JazzlikeInfluence813@reddit
That’s perfect, your all good to go

For adrenaline, whichI took manually from support site as I heard auto may give issues, do I pick "Software Type" drivers only or Minimal or default?
JazzlikeInfluence813@reddit
Default
StormShadow277@reddit (OP)
GPU. It didnt work when I had it plugged into the first slot at first but then, I also had the USB into the bios port. After I changed to 2nd slot and removed The drive, it did the first boot. Guess it was the drive and not the DP slot.
JazzlikeInfluence813@reddit
Move you back into the top pcie slot and test with the display cables plugged into the gpu, don’t worry about the gpu fans spinning were just looking to get a display out of it for now
StormShadow277@reddit (OP)
Let's say I started at 7pm. It's now 4.16am. I've set up everything. Lan, wifi, audio drivers, the AM driver from mobo website too. Later today will get AMD adrenalin. Before going to sleep will get Thermalright software for the cooler. The corsair frame 4500x rs r argb case has panel gap where the GPU is mounted and it seems that bit is on purpose... I can't fill that gap.
JazzlikeInfluence813@reddit
Get some sleep before you do anything further, get it in the morning…
StormShadow277@reddit (OP)
Well, i gotta login to Google acc but only option is physical key or a QR code through Bluetooth. That ain't working
JazzlikeInfluence813@reddit
You can add other methods on a pre logged in device with one of these methods https://safety.google/intl/en_ca/safety/authentication/
StormShadow277@reddit (OP)
Done. Thanks.
