Should I go with AM4 or intel 14th gen? When I still am using an i5 11400F and dont really have an significant upgrade path. And still want to continue on DDR4.

Hey guys,
I thought it was time to upgrade from my i5 11400F, since i would really want an more significant upgrade right now, i would swap motherboards anyway, but what should I go with? 14th gen intel (I was thinking i5 14600K) or go with am4 . I'm still really unsure what would go better with DDR4 ram, since ddr5 is so expensive.
(I am using a RX 7700 XT and play CS2)

What's the purpose of this upgrade? Your PC should be able to handle 240hz in cs2, plenty enough for even lvl 10 faceit.
Are you looking to upgrade to a 400hz+ monitor? Or are you going to play AAA games where an upgrade is necessary?
Otherwise just stay put, you're just throwing money without any real purpose.

An 11400f handling 240hz, yeah good joke

I think i would be better put when having a more capable CPU since I don't get consitent 240 FPS. And I would be more flexible if I would want to switch to a higher refresh rate. And yes, CS2 is not the only game I play, I do play AAA games, so the upgrade would be even more worth it imo.

Intel 14th Gen

14th Gen Intel is the fastest ddr4 platform. It's more well rounded than a 5800x3d imo.

14600k, unless you can find a 5800x3d

Could probably even look for a 5700x3d if he finds that cheaper too

Since you already have DDR4, 14600K on a B760 DDR4 board would be a clean jump from an 11400F.

14600K, B760 DDR4 board

I went from 10400f to 14600k
It absolutly crushes everything i throw at it
Perfect combo with my 4080s

If you have the DDR4 already, go with the 14600K, outside of AM4 X3D CPUs, the 14600K will outperform all of the AM4 CPUs from AMD.
