Whole Foods Bar at park lane

I don’t shop at WF but I heard they have a nice bar at the WF on Park Lane. Has anyone been? How’s the crowd. I read they have bingo Tuesday nights. I just wanted to try something new - drinking in a grocery store. Are the beers overpriced like the groceries?
Low_Yam_4761@reddit
Heard it’s relatively reasonable. Get a few in you and then you spend $8,000 on groceries.
YaGetSkeeted0n@reddit
You haven’t lived til you’ve been cut off and handed a trespass notice at the Whole Foods bar

Gonna get drunk and hit on women in the produce section
BunkMoreland1414@reddit
Ma’am, do you think that’s a long cucumber?

Around 2011ish I hooked up with a girl at the Lakewood Wholefoods, I just went in to see if they had fresh jerky (damn you Covid), she was at the bar with a work group. I felt that stare from across the wine display, I said to myself might as well introduce myself... rest is how it usually goes at a bar hookup.
Texas_Redditor@reddit
The Lakewood bar was pretty decent and it’s a shame they got rid of it after Covid
BabyBearMan@reddit
Yeah that was a shame. We'd go on Fridays, drink, make bad choices while shopping. Then go home and order a pizza.
Texas_Redditor@reddit
We lived a few blocks away and it was one of our favorite places to watch Lakewood people make bad choices after work.
Interesting_Glass_78@reddit (OP)
People would get that enebriated??
Texas_Redditor@reddit
Oh yeah. They had a “do not serve” list because of some bad behavior. But there were also some Friday night regulars that had a little circuit. A couple of dudes that were probably early 50s.They’d go to Whole Foods, pound a few beers, then head over to Lakewood Landing, then Cosmos, and then stagger home. And it was like clockwork. And then there was a group of divorced moms that would have a little happy hour around 6 on the weekend that their exes had the kids. They’d try to find a hook up buddy. Not really subtle about it either. And weirdly not hot either. If you talked to them at any length it was just like if like “your life seems really sad and full of dumb drama.”

Ahh good ole Whore Foods
No_Potato_8178@reddit
That's racist
3Time4Eater3@reddit
That could be a song already 🤔
mmarc76@reddit
The WF bar in Addison was my cheers. I once threw a bbq for Father's Day in it. Pretty much met my wife there. Now if there was only a divorce section.. in the refrigerated isle.. That would be sweet
unfilteredkate@reddit
I miss the one in Addison!
Suitable-Eagle-8256@reddit
God I love it here
EricCeleste@reddit
I indeed have been cut off there with “this is your last one.”To be fair, it was time for me to start food shopping.
tmc00138@reddit
Those matcha kombucha petillant naturel spritzers will sneak up on you.
Global-Beach-7415@reddit
Yes I would go to that WF bar, decent beer selection and the prices were reasonable. I also go to the bar at Tom Thumb on Field Street. Its called the Union Tap. Nice bar staff and good prices. They validate parking and can walk over to AA for a Stars or Mavs game.

masquefetiche@reddit
I would love to do this to. Does the uptown one do it or just that one?
Interesting_Glass_78@reddit (OP)
No, I went and the bar top was full. There were plenty of seats at the tables but I didn’t want to sit there by myself. I like talking to people next to me and the bartender. I was too thrilled with the esthetic to be honest. But I am in a grocery store. I may go back at some point. It’d be worth it if I actually shopped there but I find the groceries over priced. I’m a sprouts/aldis guy.
masquefetiche@reddit
Do you know what time bingo starts? I had no idea whole foods had a bar haha.
Interesting_Glass_78@reddit (OP)
I do not. I couldn’t find it online. I was told by some guy I met at another bar. I assumed it was in the evening but when I got there at 5:50 it had already started. Also, I’m not sure if it’s free if you pay per card or what you win
masquefetiche@reddit
Maybe I’ll just show you around 5. Thanks!!
Interesting_Glass_78@reddit (OP)
Let me know how it goes! Bingo is only on Tuesdays though.
guero57@reddit
I enjoy it. Grab a slice of pizza, have a few drinks, and watch a game. The crowd is pretty grown-up and tame. You'd be a special kind of alcoholic to cause trouble drinking in a grocery store.

I'd gone in there a few times when I lived nearby and it always struck me as WEIRDD that people were chilling at a bar in a high priced grocery store.. I still don't understand it. It reminded me of a Married wWith Children episode where the family went to a supermarket like it was a beach day, lounge chairs and all lol
god_partic1e@reddit
Being a foodie and home cook, the whole foods bar in Addison was my Shangrila. Best place to chill after work
Savings-Hair4091@reddit
Idk but my wife and I grab beers at the WF bar on Renner in Richardson all the time
yellowsun_97@reddit
I used to go there to talk to older men when I was 21. Men in regular bars never interested me but older ones in supermarkets did. 😂
Interesting_Glass_78@reddit (OP)
Just got to my usual bar and it turns out the barkeep here used to bartend at WF years ago.
ChicagoRay312@reddit
Is his name John?
Interesting_Glass_78@reddit (OP)
I think so. That or George. Describe him.
ChicagoRay312@reddit
Mid height red head with red beard.

Back in the day, it was one of the best places to find rare craft beers on draft. Just about all of the Whole Foods in this area had a bar at one point. McKinney Avenue had a really large one too. All of them have closed except for the Park Lane one and I believe the one in Richardson. Believe it or not, the bar that is currently at the Park Lane location wasn’t the original bar there. It used to be in the middle of the store. For a short period of time they actually had two bars operating at the same time.
Interesting_Glass_78@reddit (OP)
Yeah, John (or George) was telling me it used to be in the middle of the store next to the cheese

Haha….the way I see it, it’s more of a solution than a problem
StrawberryHour7102@reddit
I’ve had a beer there just to say I’ve drank in a Whole Foods. It was a random afternoon and hardly anyone sitting over there.
Mindless_Necessary42@reddit
My wife go on occasion for a glass of wine. Its always low key and a calm atmosphere. Can recommend!
Interesting_Glass_78@reddit (OP)
I will try again at some point.
Interesting_Glass_78@reddit (OP)
Ok I will have to come back some other time. No empty seats at the bar.
AgentRadd@reddit
See what happens when you post on /Dallas Reddit? Lol
too-fun-sidekick@reddit
Yes been to bar, it’s been there like 15 years. No it’s nothing special. Yes every bar is expensive.
in_full_swing@reddit
Favorite bar to chill in the area since even before COVID. Always good rotating beers- good locals and imports. The Cityline Whole Foods has a bar too, but vibes aren't as good.
Right_Letterhead_120@reddit
The bar tender is cool and has a 4th gen 4Runner V8.
in_full_swing@reddit
He is a super chill guy and knows beer, too. The 4Runner is nicely kitted out too.
The other usual can talk to anybody about anyrhing and is cool too.
Interesting_Glass_78@reddit (OP)
Wait are you saying that because you can see my post history? Either way headed over there now.
Right_Letterhead_120@reddit
I didn’t look at your history, but I stand by my comment.
Interesting_Glass_78@reddit (OP)
You’re scratching me where I itch!! have 5th gen trd pro.
Askmeaboutmy_Beergut@reddit
The one at beltline and the tollway in Addison has a bar. The 1st time I went I walked over to the meat section to buy some steaks and had to do a triple take. So weird.
"Hey guys let's go to whole foods and grab a beer after work!" Reminds of bill burr take on McDonald's salads. "Hey guys, wanna go to McDonald's and get a salad! Eat something healthy!"
DirtySperrys@reddit
Confirming with other user. Been gone for over a year at least. May be due to all the restaurants within walking distance.
Firststopanywhere@reddit
Had a bar. No longer.
NegotiationSalt666@reddit
You should try civil pour! It’s nearby and has a sort of third space vibe i think a lot of people are searching for
xoxo_angelica@reddit
There are like 5 different places to eat/drink in that same center, I can’t imagine choosing to eat INSIDE Whole Foods unless I was like on a quick lunch break…I know it’s technically a “normal” thing to do but that feels so…sterile and dystopian vibes wise lol
Interesting_Glass_78@reddit (OP)
Yeah I’m not even a WF fan but this guy was telling me it’s a lot of fun on Tuesdays
xoxo_angelica@reddit
Not hating on you, sorry it definitely came off judgy, I was just lamenting more generally haha. Hope you have fun and the foods good either way!
Interesting_Glass_78@reddit (OP)
No offense. I go to a lot of bars in this area. I wanted to try something different
Interesting_Glass_78@reddit (OP)
I may poke my head just to see what it’s like
Interesting_Glass_78@reddit (OP)
Ooooh I shall look into this. Thankya
LSAbbey@reddit
They have a great beer tap list. I know it’s odd to drink in a grocery store, but it actually is pretty good.
sooner_25@reddit
Only time I was in that WF was a Sunday night and there were a lot of people at the bar area
Interesting_Glass_78@reddit (OP)
If I go I’ll report back, and probably buzz-buy $400 in non-gmo fair trade groceries
