Found an old HP OmniBook XE2 in the basement that’s missing its RAM, battery and hard drive. This type of hard drive connection is a first for me. Anyone know what I need to interface with this?

I’ve got the cover that holds the drive in that picture you linked to. It just doesn’t have that weird proprietary connector.

Its possible the connector has been removed as most offerings say their part comes with the connector, such as this one.

The connector has been removed from mine. The mounting screw holes for the connector are there.
this is mine
I’ve found the connector on its own listed on eBay for about $10 so that’s not bad.
It’s the damn PC66 RAM that seems to be expensive nowadays because it’s getting so scarce.

It wasn't uncommon to see these type of different interfaces during the PATA era. As the other poster said, you'll want to seek out spare parts for that model to complete the setup.

Been a long time since I worked on one of those, best I remember they had a drive caddy and used a 2.5 inch ide/ata drive.
