Just wondering, can a 5060 run 1440p?

Just wondering, can a 5060 run 1440p?
Ill_Difference_4039@reddit
sure it can, some games will need more than 8gb vram, in those cases lower settings and/or use upscaling but it's perfectly fine, especially if you are not just targeting the latest AAA games only
TheDregn@reddit
It can 2K
It probably can 1440p as well, with some compromises.
crazyjerryyy@reddit
Depends on what you're playing honestly. For esports and older titles, 1440p is totally fine. But with newer AAA games the 8GB VRAM is gonna bottleneck you — you'll need to drop textures and turn off ray tracing. If you're strictly 1440p gaming and want something more future-proof, I'd look at stepping up to a 5060 Ti 16GB or saving a bit more for a 5070.
Huge-Attitude9892@reddit
Meanwhile i use a 5070 for 1080p.
ExhaustedQuail@reddit
Consider getting a 1440p monitor to get your moneys worth on the 5070
Huge-Attitude9892@reddit
Nah. With a 1080p monitor it gonna last a little longer. And i bought this card for VR in the first place.
Also DLDSR is not a bad thing and i'm sorta using that too.
Ericsonas666@reddit
If you are up for dlss and multi frame gen, than yea. About month ago bought it pc with this gpu for wife and it run smooth on 2k, ofcourse as said need to use dlss and frame gen if you want to play on max settigs.

As with all questions like this, depends on a lot of factors.
First, the game. If you're playing an old game or an indie game, a 5060 can play most of them at 4k smoothly. However, if you're playing a new AAA game, then it's highly unlikely that you're going to run them at 1440p ultra 'smoothly' on a 5060. Maybe 1440p on low settings.
I would personally consider a 5060 to be a strong 1080p card / entry level 1440p, while a 5070 is a strong 1440p card and does reasonably well at 4k, but not in every game.
The big limiting factor of the card at anything higher than 1080p is going to be the 8GB VRAM. Different games react to VRAM limitations in different ways. Some just slow down a bit or stutter, other straight up crash. I can absolutely GUARANTEE you that you're going to run out if you try running some games at 1440p ultra.

I play at 4K with a 5060 Ti 16GB with DLSS and ray tracing off.
As long as you’re not trying to push for moar frames and content with 60FPS you’ll be fine on most games.
deeznutz133769@reddit
That has twice the vram of a standard 5060 though, so the experience won't be anywhere near the same. VRAM becomes a huge limiting factor as you go up in resolution.
Megamarod@reddit
Any GPU can run games at any resolution technically speaking, it just depends on how demanding it is. With DLSS 4.5 I think you can pull off 1440p@60fps but you'll certainly be limited by VRAM in some scenarios, mostly AAA demanding games, and of course ray tracing is off the table.
ThisIsBULLOCKSMAN@reddit
Yeah but you probably would have to be on medium settings and possibly low settings on most AAA games
Ok-Location-540@reddit
it's crazy that we have to complain about 1080p GPU's in 2026. RX580 have 8GB of vram, released 9 years ago...
prank_mark@reddit
You'll be a lot happier with a 9060 XT, preferably the 16GB version
AlunSagara@reddit
2K with medium textures and not everything cranked up to the max. If it had at least 2GB more VRAM it would’ve been way more versatile at 2K
BedroomThink3121@reddit
Most games without ray tracing, yes it can play because it performs like a 2080ti.
zBaLtOr@reddit
Nope
FunCalligrapher3979@reddit
Yes with DLSS but the 8gb vram is a big oof.
Id try and save for a 5060to 16gb or 5070 12gb, will last a lot longer without issues.
Marcopasq@reddit
I play 2k smoothly with a GTX 1080 and 7800x3d at 1080p. 100+ fps and when in game it caps it at 60 but it doesn’t dip
Significant_Apple904@reddit
Yes.
I play 2K26 on 3440x1440 with 5060Ti with \~70fps.
Let's do the math so it makes sense for your setup.
5060Ti is about 15% (10-20%) faster than 5060, 3440x1440 is about 31% more pixels than 1440p; so with 5060 at 1440p, it would actually give you about 10% more fps.
unabletocomput3@reddit
I mean, theoretically any gpu capable of displaying 2k at a high enough refresh rate can play games at 1440p smoothly. The problem lies within the game and settings you’re asking for.
9okm@reddit
It depends on the game dude. Rimworld should be fine.
Naerven@reddit
It depends on how well you can optimize settings in order to get smooth gameplay. Even last year I was playing games smoothly at 1440p with a RX6600 while using quality upscaling.
GABE_EDD@reddit
It has the raw rasterization power to handle a lot of games at 1440p decently, but only having 8GB VRAM will be limiting in a lot of modern AAA titles. Overall, it's a 1080p-oriented card.
psimwork@reddit
I would tend to agree with this. Older titles will be fine, but newer ones will struggle.
pragomatic@reddit
Will vary by game to game. Most games, yeah. Those with higher texture needs or a super high polygon count, no.
