Trade multi engine turbine PIC for cross country time?

I’m currently a PIC on a king air and a Casa 212 SIC both for skydiving operations. I have been acquiring a decent amount of multi engine turbine time however I just barely meet the minimums for a restricted ATPL with just over 200 hours of XC time. In your opinion if I apply to a regional / jet job at the end of my skydiving season do you think employers will over look my XC time because of my multi turbine experience?

Restricted ATPL ? Are you referring to a frozen ATPL or a FAA restricted ATP ? You can get a restricted ATP with reduced cross country time so you'll be fine.
Gabriel_Owners@reddit
Which is why he said he just barely meets the minimums...

I don't think the cross country column on in a logbook has ever been the deciding factor on getting a job. Either you qualify or you don't in that regard.
Gabriel_Owners@reddit
Not typically. But his cross country time only qualifies him for a restricted ATP, not an unrestricted ATP. So that can be a differentiator.

I didn't think there were regionals out there looking for unrestricted ATPs. Then you have the jobs that do require unrestricted ATPs but they will also be more competitive than just barely meeting the minimums anyway.

I agree. But you said "I don't think the cross country column in a logbook has ever been the deciding factor on getting a job" so I was just riffing off that statement.

I did put a pretty hard qualifier in there. I was just thinking about landing that first jet job. It seems its usually TT, ME as as the big talking points. Turbine time is big, instrument time is another one that can be valuable followed by XC. Thats how I would go about it if I was looking at hiring. But I'm not in hiring so none of my opinions are worth anything.

I agree with ya. We're talking past each other a little bit but you're absolutely correct. I'm just being a pedantic redditor.

I wish more people would call it like they see it. I love being a little pedantic myself at times.

Technically correct is the best type of correct.

Not sure why that was down voted. Cross country time is not nearly as important as multi time in the hiring room. TPIC in a king air is next level over riding along as a student flies to the same 3 airports your last 20 students flew to.
Gabriel_Owners@reddit
You're just another bare mins application in the stack like anyone else.
0621Hertz@reddit
That last sentence is completely false, who did you hear that from?
Gabriel_Owners@reddit
I run an interview prep service. It is true that regionals are favoring cadet CFIs over guys with some turbine PIC.
0621Hertz@reddit
Yes cadets get precedent over everyone else, that’s not a mystery.
But when it comes to OTS hires a CFI with only piston experience isn’t a more desirable resume than someone who has TPIC flying Caravans. If talking strictly from aeronautical experience.
Someone with Caravan experience isn’t jumping to a Big Five carrier after 500 hours at a regional.

Only one way to find out. If you don’t apply then the answer is 100% a no.
