A chunk of steel 40+ years old - you need $30k+ and a pile of paperwork to aquire it. The rich can afford it, and the criminals can make it. Where does that leave the average law-abiding American?

Which law are YOU talking about? The laws I just stated to you are right at the top of the page. You say details; the devil is in the details. Freedoms are written with big bold words.

Auto-sear for an AR-15. With a $200 tax and tons of paperwork, you could get these relatively cheaply years ago. In 1986, Reagan signed an amendment to the NFA which made the sale of any fully-automatic firearm made after 1986 illegal. Thus, there's a limited supply or fully-automatic guns and registered auto-sears.

Honestly some of the recent FRT/SS drop-ins look almost identical to DIAS and I've been wondering but not really wanting to ask out loud.

Same principle.
Difference is that the FRT pushed the trigger forward then you pull it back, whereas a DIAS just operates the hammer in the same way a drilled in auto sear does.

I have a Kabuto and an AZ Regulator. They physically push the trigger back into action during bolt reciprocation and you can feel it once you get the hang of the mechanics.
Also if you pin the trigger you will not get any Forced reset, a very good indicator of it not being a DIAS.

They are not the same far closer than we have had before fore sure. However shooting real FA vs FRT, FA is way better and does not have any where the same number of issues FRTs do.
