Stunt show!?

All the “ladder combat” at Callisto’s bandit camp made me want to see some kind of Xena Stunt Show. Was there ever anything like that back in the day?

There was Hercules and Xena: Wizards of the Screen at Universal in the US, but it wasn’t a stunt show. It was more about how they filmed the TV shows, added sound effects, etc.

When Hercules and Xena were walk round characters at Universal Studios Florida briefly, they would sometimes train in the Central Park area with swords
Wish there was footage of it

I hope Xena was always triumphant! 🗡️

From what I remember as a child, it was always training, like taking turns lol

I've got nothing but respect for Lucy's stunt double, Zoe Bell. Even though the effects were sometimes cheesy, she had to really do a lot of that stuff.

I always wondered why she never had a credit for stunt work. Peter Bell.(no relation) had one for stunt coordinator though.

Not sure, as what little I have seen seems to indicate she and Lucy get along well. Lucy once even appeared in a movie that Zoe starred in. There was even a line in it where her character says to Lucy's "I'm not you..."

When I see that scene, all I can think of is that it would definitely be a boss level on a video game.

And missed attacks would like damage the ladders to make to make them harder to climb!

Legit. Like, it would knock a rung off or Gabrielle would fall a bit. I also think this about that final scene in Dangerous Prey. Definitely a boss level. But, like, SNES or SMD boss levels, not PS5.

Ah yes. Our first introduction to Callisto. God she pissed me off! I remember screaming at my TV, "Get up Xena and kick her ass!" 😂 Good times. Also, a stunt show would have been SOOOO COOL!!!

I watched way too much pro wrestling, probably still do, and Callisto was such a great heel (bad guy character).
In my first rewatch and seeing her name / thumbnail picture made my blood boil instantly 👹

Yes! It was called "Xena Warrior Princess." One episode had more flips, flying, falling than whole series of other shows. Sure, wires and harnesses helped, but I constantly marvel at what they did with physical skills alone.
To your point, it would've been cool to have a feature about stuntees included in the DVD set. They added as much to the show as anything else. I would've preferred that to the BTS extra we got instead about special effects.

Yes, Xena is the name of the Tv Show I’m watching and referencing in the picture, and the actors on this show are doing stunts.
But “stunt show” in the context I was asking about is a live performance, where an audience pays to watch professionals act out dangerous choreography.
The most famous one that comes to mind is the WaterWorld show at Universal Studios Hollywood. I was asking if there was a live Xena themed type show back in the day.

Jackie Chan movies?

If you think about the production value and editing, this was shot very well
Agent8699@reddit
Absolutely! So much more impressive than 99% of current TV shows and movies.
