Proposal to change this sub to r/whichtoyotashouldibuy ?

Best V8 ever made in the history of the automobile? LC500
Best financial decision? Corolla LE with 217k miles and a missing hubcap
Best off-road vehicle for someone who only drives to Costco? TRD Pro
Best Mexican car ever made? Tacoma
Best car that isn’t an automatic? Prius
Visible_Structure483@reddit
can confirm that TRD Pro. nothing says "suburban debt dad" like the fully kitted out overlanding TRD at costco with no space to put anything because your bed tent is in the way and your back seat is filled with child seats.
Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit
And the halved fuel economy due to all the crap attached to the outside.
cshmn@reddit
They pick up an MPG or 2 from the mirror finish ceramic coat that has never seen dust.
nanneryeeter@reddit
No worries they have a tiny gas can in case they get low on fuel.
Visible_Structure483@reddit
suburban debt dad doesn't care about fuel economy. that's for poors who aren't rolling on financed 34" tires.
rilesmcjiles@reddit
That's not much of a hit to fuel economy at all. Half of not very much... is not very much.
SailingSpark@reddit
I feel strangely seen here.
Turbulent-Dentist-77@reddit
Don't forget the Mazdas.
Drewdc90@reddit
Ah the ‘drivers’ Toyota.
naterpotater246@reddit
Daily driver? Toyota Corolla. Weekend sports car? Miata Is Always The Answer
Those are the only two cars anyone visiting this sub needs
Live_Ingenuity_8117@reddit
I genuinely hate how true this advice is tho. Trust me, I hate going along with the status quo. But an inexpensive Toyota 4 cylinder with a ton of miles is hard to beat from a value proposition. And the miata (specifically the NC and ND) are absolutely incredible machines.
Wardog008@reddit
Or just to be different, a Mazda 3 or CX-5, and a Toyota MR2.
Live_Ingenuity_8117@reddit
Also super solid choices.
CarbonInTheWind@reddit
Only when asking for something fun to drive on the weekend
ohwell_______@reddit
People who shill for Toyota on Reddit have either never actually sat inside a Toyota before, or never sat in literally any other car before
LeckereKartoffeln@reddit
The only thing I don't like about my toyota corolla is that it isn't a manual and couldn't come as one
windmill09@reddit
I shill for Lexus F cars because I've owned almost all the German branded sports cars before. There's something to be said about a German car being considered reliable when it can finally go 70k miles without a repair while my RCF is regularly drifted and has the rev limiter banged off and has never needed a single repair in over 11 years.
PolybiusChampion@reddit
The RCF is an amazing machine. Starting to see some tuner type people getting into the platform. I almost bought one but ended up in an AMG (I know, but I really like it) but I still pay attention to the RCF’s when I see them.
windmill09@reddit
Haha. I was shopping for AMGs and BMWs before I bought my RCF. Was considering something to replace 3 cars, my G37 IPL, 350z, and 987 Boxster lol. I drove an AMG GT and it was FANTASTIC. I love the idle noise. Felt like I was in a hot rod! I KNEW I had to get a V8 after test driving it. The BMW turbo i6s are fast from a launch, but in the drive, the engine felt so characterless. What sold me on the RCF was how it wanted to lose traction but do so so progressively. The reliability has been icing on the cake. Simply the best car I've ever owned.
PolybiusChampion@reddit
I had a similar journey, ended up in the new SL 55, got an absolute steal on a car that had been used as a display car at a couple of golf tournaments. “CPO” with only 400 miles on it, plus it was winter and had been sitting more than a minute so I also got 2nd extra year of CPO warranty. Had i not stumbled across that deal I’d be in an RCF I’m pretty sure.
VoidingSounds@reddit
Nah. I've had Toyotas, Chevys and Subarus. The Toyota was so good I was willing to fuck with the experience of buying a Toyota again.
doc_55lk@reddit
Real
Graywulff@reddit
I drive a dodge stratus! People fear me!
LeckereKartoffeln@reddit
And I fear changing the starter on it lol
Equivalent_Sound9414@reddit
because you truly have nothing to live for
Adventurous-Depth984@reddit
The answer is always a 20 year old Corolla with 200k on the clock
unpolire@reddit
The only issue with Toyotas is their very high theft rate.
Spring__Warrior@reddit
I am a die hard american muscle car fan and drive a 6.4. Liter v8 dodge and toyota makes the best cars its not even close.
doppietta@reddit
I mean I would say honda is pretty close
Gunk_Olgidar@reddit
You spelled r/whichmazdashouldIbuy wrong.
Toyotas are no longer what they were. UA80 and TTV6 to name two examples. Nevermind the hybrids that get bricked when the 12v battery fails.
lunchbox651@reddit
I'm here to disrupt the sub with my euro heresy.
plainsfiddle@reddit
A lot of cars are bad. People come in here with an idea of what they want that has nothing to do with the quality of the vehicles, then they get mad because people try to steer them away from cripplingly bad financial decisions. the Japanese bias of this sub reflects the reality of car quality.
ravage214@reddit
No one ever takes my advice to buy a Mercedes Benz Unimog
MPR78@reddit
I'm intrigued by this stick shift Prius..
smallcarbro@reddit
The Honda CRZ is close.
LifeForm8449@reddit (OP)
The Prius doesn’t shift gears at all, so what is automatic about its transmission?
smallcarbro@reddit
I mean have you seen the streets? Pretty accurate.
topherdrives@reddit
Best luxury car: 2009 Avalon with the gold badges
PolybiusChampion@reddit
Camry
fatyungjesus@reddit
It makes sense doesn't it? ya got a ton of people who likely aren't really into the hobby side, and also don't know a ton about the cars to begin with.
They're just going to recommend the brand that has a history of reliability.
95% of people just need a boring cage to take them from A to B. Of that remaining 5%, it's maybe 2% of people that actually dedicate the extra portion of their income to driving something they find "cool" or "fun".
SailingSpark@reddit
And people hate it if your idea of a fun car is different from the mainstream.
fatyungjesus@reddit

Hert said it better than I've ever heard it.
Blu_yello_husky@reddit
I would rather take the bus than drive a Toyota. And the best v8 ever made goes to the mopar 318
mrdungbeetle@reddit
Best bus? Toyota Coaster
cl0udmaster@reddit
Best BMW? Toyota Supra. Best Subaru? Toyota bz4x.
rilesmcjiles@reddit
Best Toyota?
friendIdiglove@reddit
Mazda CX-50 Hybrid.
username_not_found62@reddit
That’s a really weird way to spell small black Chevy 350
Blu_yello_husky@reddit
Ive never owned a car with a 350 so I cant speak as to how reliable they are. Every 318 ive had has been very resilient
username_not_found62@reddit
I’m just personally biased against the acronym. And I’ve only ever owned one small black Chevy 350 for the past 16 years and have personally put over 200,000 miles on it.
SailingSpark@reddit
Honestly, most of the american pushrod v8s are very reliable. They are simple machines with stump pulling power.
VoidingSounds@reddit
TBF, 'Hyundai Elantra' would be a worse answer to every question
Pin this post and revise #3 when the TuRD Hammer ships.
cstricke@reddit
That LC500 was the top upvoted comment on the v8 post, and the replies that followed sent me lol. Specifically the reply defending the choice of the lexus that said "No one buys a v8 for performance".
Ilikesayingfuck@reddit
Thought you were meming. Nope
KeepersDiary@reddit
Imagine still recommending Toyota's in 2026. Have you seen the price?
