NoTerm3078@reddit
I gonna take an absolutely wild guess and say there is a team of people, somewhere, that don't find it unexplained at all.
sleepytipi@reddit
The cold war never ended. That's what i think is happening to all the dead scientists.
KorgothBarbaria@reddit
What?
arb1698@reddit
Quite a few us researchers working on high level and classified projects have turned up dead in past few months with no reason given and investigations are stalling.
FairFaireFairy@reddit
I thought I heard the same thing a year or two ago about certain alternative type doctors having a much higher average of death and disappearance.
badwoofs@reddit
Considering who agent krasnov gave our intelligence member info to... Remember when our CIA agents were dying off?
Shampoo-Champion-@reddit
I like the theory that the asteroid Apophis is going to hit us in 2029 and the scientists and military personnel that have gone missing know/knew about it.
fragrant-final-973@reddit
That's a dark theory to like.
sleepytipi@reddit
I mean a mass extinction event sounds kind of liberating at this point.
Also, if you know your theology it was implied since it was named.
fragrant-final-973@reddit
I'm not a fan of fairy tales.
sleepytipi@reddit
Careful, might cut yourself with all that edge.
Melinoe2016@reddit
Whether or not they’re ** fairy tales.
fragrant-final-973@reddit
No edge, just reality.
ArcticCelt@reddit
Apophis is not in the mass-extinction category. It could cause mass casualties, but not extinction. It would devastate the country or region it hit, so possibly millions of deaths. Its impact energy would be roughly comparable to all the nuclear weapons on Earth, more or less. The asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs, Chicxulub, was around 68,000 times stronger.
fragrant-final-973@reddit
You’re ruining his Revelations fantasy.
AradynGaming@reddit
I like your optimistic thoughts that the human race will make it to 2029.
fruderduck@reddit
Not in America.

Chinese researchers too. It’s a real world 3 body problem.
arb1698@reddit
Watch it be some country like Isreal or a.private group that wants to see the world burn. Or hell even the dare I say it Scien-tolo creeps
newaccounthomie@reddit
It’s whoever owns the doomsday bunkers. Call me a cynic but I think they’re delusional enough to think they’ll survive it and rebuild society.
arb1698@reddit
Yup except they forget people knew where they are cause other people built them.
Substantial_Back_865@reddit
The US government kills their own guys all the time, but you’re right that the cold war never ended.
sleepytipi@reddit
I'm not sure America is even remotely close to being the nation this gov actually serves so maybe both can be true.
Easy-Marsupial3268@reddit
Yeah the US has been stalking North Korea since they threw the US out.
Phine420@reddit
You don’t know it they fucked up themselves or got targeted from Outside but then we Need to Find the Luigi
Unicorn_Puppy@reddit
Are frogmen still a thing in the navy?
rmannyconda78@reddit
I’m pretty sure that’s just the seals
KorgothBarbaria@reddit
Why wouldn't it still be a thing?
ThatGirlWren@reddit
A whole Los Angeles-class sub full of people who didn't find it unexplained at all.

ScarletCarsonRose@reddit
well that's not concerning at all.

Isn't this the first mission in Modern Warfare? Team Expendable was the title of that mission.
GENERAT10N_D00M@reddit
So, there’s a free nuclear reactor or two on the ocean floor? hold on, let me get into my swim trunks.
CarlosDanger3000@reddit
no, Russia sent the Yantar to go obliterate them
Khaz_bronzebeard@reddit
X
Khaz_bronzebeard@reddit
There's like 60 nukes sitting on the ocean floor, lotta shit sank during the cold war
Justabeing276@reddit
Well they're not flying out a window at least.

Interesting to see both CNN and the Guardian republish old news within hours of each other with any new info. Hadn't realized they're affiliated / marching to coordinated beat.

Non- subscriber version from Kyiv Post.
Looks like it sunk off the coast of Spain after Portuguese Navy stopped tracking it, and is most likely to have been destroyed by explosions.
50_61S-----165_97E@reddit
I kinda hope this was a western government running a black op, Russia is always playing dirty but we never fight back in kind.
twarrr@reddit
US does crazy shit all the time. In 2019 some seals killed North Korean fishermen because they thought the fishermen had compromised their mission.
And we only hear about that because it couldn't be covered up.
Ghost_of_Durruti@reddit
Yes "we" do lol.
Flaky-Mess7261@reddit
My personal thoughts are that the ship was “sunk” but only after the equipment onboard was transferred.
fragrant-final-973@reddit
Since this was 18 months ago I'm sure it's all already gone.
Flaky-Mess7261@reddit
I did not know, thank you.
fragrant-final-973@reddit
The news is new, but it sank in Dec 2024.
abdallha-smith@reddit
