InFlight gets recommended a lot but not looking at them cause
-
seems too expensive

from other's experience it seems it takes a lot of time and money to just clear the airspace to get to the actual flying part.
Due to personal commitments , I can't dedicate a lot of time to flying so looking for a place that's not too expensive and let's me go at a slower pace

Lake Elmo Aero -21D Cessna / Piper
AirTrek- KSGS -Cessna's/Piper
Linx Aviation KRNH/KEAU, RV-12's full glass
I'd check out each one of them, Linx is a 50% now, 50% later program, interesting concept.

Where's Linx aviation, the airports you listed for Linx are way too far

Good on you for deciding against inflight. It’s not a bad flight school but instructors charge per the block and learning to fly at FCM is unproductive.
Air Trek North and LEO are good. Avoid AV8, Aloft, thunderbird

Why do you say to avoid AV8, Aloft and Thunderbird?
Rightrudderbandit@reddit
Don’t know much about AV8 but it’s a FCM based flight school so same issue with getting to the practice flying to different airports just because it’s hard to practice landings there.
Aloft has scheduling issues from what I’ve heard. Hard to get the instructors and aircraft to lineup since it’s a small fleet. Also it’s at Airlake (Scarelake) which has its own problems.
Thunderbird has a ton of issues. Clapped out planes pencil whipped inspections and a long list of recent crashes. They just had a plane go down a few months ago….

I know people who went to Aloft for PPL and they loved it. They never mentioned anything about instructor/plane availability. I fly out of KLVN and the fleet size there has definitely grown.

I'll throw a plug out there for Air Trek North out of KSGS. They aren't flashy, but they're good. The planes aren't new, but they're very well maintained. Every instructor I've worked with there has been great. The maintenance team is always happy to talk to students about things and answer any questions you have.
As for your point number 2, KSGS is tucked right between the MSP bravo and the STP Delta so it adds a different challenge, but it's always quick to get out of it and fly east or south to get the practice area.
Scheduling is completely under your own control. You have access to AircraftClubs and can schedule the plane/instructor at your convenience.

I'm a Air Trek North fan too. Did my CSEL and CFI ratings there and rent from there still. DM me if you have any questions.

Aloft in Lakeville. I have a few students that are working on their licenses at their own pace. DM me if you are interested in finding out more info.

I am an independent instructor out of KSGS if you'd like to get in touch. I'll send you a DM with some info. Even if we don't end up being a good fit, I'm always happy to point people in the right direction.
