Especially in Hamas’ case when these atrocities only make things worse for Gaza, giving their oppressors justification to inflict greater attacks, and fueling support or indifference to the Gaza atrocities from the Israeli public.

Yes, literally Israel been caught multiple times creating false information by doctoring audio recordings, twisting the facts of things or just using random videos found on the internet (weird people forget that time Israel tried using a swedish bunker as proof that Hamas has bunkers) and knowing that Israels military will control what information will get out, means that unless we have a full independent investigation that isn't restricted, nothing coming out can be trusted, which makes telling the truth harder, because you already cried wolf once, why should we trust you this time.

I think the reason anyone might be suspicious of the source is that it was done by an Israeli commission.
Stuff like this is usually trusted only when done through an independent third party (such as when the UN did an investigation and filed a report)

If hypothetically such an atrocity would happen in Germany, the German government would create a commission. This isn’t any different.

Talking on a practical basis here, on an idealistic basis, the responsibility for a crime (any crime really, from shoplifting to mass murder) should primarily rest on the perpetrators.
Not making atrocity apologia here, Hamas fighters could *literally* be demons from hell and that still wouldn’t make Israel’s expansionism and atrocities alright.

Honestly i never understood why it was so hard for people to even acknowledge the possibility of sexual violence being perpetuated during oct. 7 it wouldn't be the first time members of resistance groups have done that nor would it negate Israel's decades oppression of Palestinians.
