Mine was Pina Colada

Orange carrot by a landslide
ShooterMcG305@reddit
I would convince my child self that it was healthy because it didn't taste as sweet as regular orange juice because it had carrots and carrots were a vegetable.
Nevermind the 30 grams of sugar. (HOLY SHIT I JUST LOOKED IT UP IT WAS 57 GRAMS OF SUGAR! HOW DID THEY LET US DRINK THIS STUFF?!?)

Love to see this out again

That strawberry banana (“the pink Sobe”) saved my life one night when I was about 24.
I got a new apartment on the other side of the city. I just got a new job, but barely had enough for the first/last month’s rent and deposit to clear, and a U-Haul to move my stuff. So all I had to eat was one pack of ramen and the rest of a bag of frozen peas and carrots… for the entire day.
I also had to move my stuff. My girlfriend (current wife) helped me after she got off work, but for the most part I had to lift all the furniture and boxes down a flight of stairs into the moving truck on my own. It was a Tuesday and I didn’t want to bother any of my buddies - and admittedly I’m a little too stubborn to ask for help. Needless to say, I was exhausted. And apparently my blood sugar was falling.
After the truck was packed and closed up, I dropped off my old key and we hit the road. Just in time for traffic, just in time for dark, and just in time for the rain.
45 minutes of stop & go traffic, in November in Portland. From near Beaverton to SE 135th & Division. Dark, wet, white knuckle grip, truck packed to the gills.
Numbness began radiating from my forearms. Soon my hands and feet throbbed with a numb lifelessness that I could not control. My stomach, too. As I try to maintain control of the U-Haul, my dead hands began to flex, unwillingly bending toward my own wrists. I had no feeling or control of either hand. In my mind I knew I was in mortal danger.
The numbness still growing up my arms into my shoulders, I used my wrists and elbows to steer the truck. We made it off the 205 just in time, into a gas station. Wife jumped out, ran in, and came back out with the pink Sobe and a Pop-tart. I couldn’t open the bottle myself so she opened it for me and helped lift to my mouth. I chugged like I was dying of thirst, but what I was really in danger of, evidently, is hypoglycemia.
The sugar instantly affected my body, and feeling returned to my extremities. I finished it and the Pop-tart, met my friends at my new place, and got it all moved in (first floor, thank god) in like an hour.
Don’t forget to eat, people!

Glad you’re ok
Back in the late 90’s I served 4 years in the U.S. Army and they had incidents, I guess, in the 80’s where soldiers would pass out from dehydration. So during Basic they had us do “hydration formation” , meaning the last formation of the day, before going to sleep, we would drink two cantines of water
This was absurd, and unnecessary. What was even more funny was these were not new cantines, but leftovers, so they were soaked in bleach then rinsed with water…you know…clean them. So some of the bleach residue was still in the canteen and that made us…not constipated to put it mildly.
I got more stories, but your story reminded me of all the training we got, “preventing heat stroke” was another one…I could do a Netflix series on my time in the Army and I don’t think anyone would believe it.
12 mile Road March ? Ya, let’s do it. With 50lb rucks.
lol.
Good times.

Thank you for your service! I can actually relate. I enlisted a little later (26) into the Marines. Same deal, chugging canteens 2, 3 at a time until people started puking. The dreaded “silver bullet” was what really scared us, though.

I enlisted in 2000 and apparently little had changed

Energy (citrus). I drank one every day in 1999
--Jester--@reddit
This the one. Only stopped because of the plastic bottles.
M-S-S@reddit
That's when I switched to the Adrenalyze energy drink which was a similar flavor, albeit distilled into an enamel-pitting one.
Sad_Apple_3387@reddit
Ok, I think this was mine too.
neuro_space_explorer@reddit
Yeah, energy in a glass bottle was unmatched. It was my go to drink till the world got worse.

Should have stocked up simply for the drug paraphernalia.

I haven’t had it in 20 years but that taste is forever embedded in my memory.

I still look for it every time I go to a gas station. I’m just hoping I’ll go back in time to 98 and it will be there for me to enjoy.

I loved the pina colada, which is strange because that's not a flavor I'd seek anywhere else. But I really loved it.

Dude... This was my counterstrike gaming fuel, mid 2000s. Pina Colada/Lizz Blizz. Just looked them up and now I'm sad they are no longer around.
Sad_Apple_3387@reddit
I don’t remember the flavor name, but it was a citrus blend of some sort. Anyone know that one?
knowone1313@reddit
I'd buy Dragon fruit all the time and it seemed like the store was always out, then one day I overheard the employees at the store say nobody ever buys it so they stopped ordering it or something along those lines...

The Green Tea was my fave! So refreshing during summer days.

Lizz Jizz.
That stuff seriously needs to make a comeback. That was my go-to drink at the gas station for years.

Dragon Fruit was the only one I liked! I recently tried both types of real dragon fruit and found I only liked the yellow kind. Also, it tasted nothing like Sobe's drink, I felt betrayed.

Lemonade maybe? Mostly just remember using them for gravity bongs, cause they had that little divot in the bottom you could pop out easily.
