21 years ago today, the legend of Leeroy Jenkins was born. Never forget.

Not meaning to necro this thread too badly, but the entire:
"4 strength 4 stam leather belt? AAAAUUUUGGHHHH skit just ran through my head.
Workamania@reddit
It only took a few month of playing WoW to realize all the jargon was wrong. I actually did that raid in a sad 8 hour play session to get attuned for Molten Core or something. Holy crap that was a long day.
International_Link35@reddit
LEEEEEEEROY JENKINS!
NeganSaves@reddit
Dammit, Leroy.
AnythingButWhiskey@reddit
Oh my god he just ran in
kimchiman85@reddit
And they still went in there to help him.

Stick to the plan chums! Stick to the plan!
Quackoverride@reddit
At least he got chicken.
AgPatriotAg@reddit
How dare one post this and not the video! :)
Starbreiz@reddit
We finally just shut down our Jenkins server at work named Leeeroy.
hamburgler26@reddit
Don’t worry. A new Jenkins server will come. They always do.
Also, why the fuck didn’t I think to name a Jenkins box Leeeroy over the years!
PhillNewcomer@reddit
I said this name at work today. And no one got it. /sad trambone
TiEmEnTi@reddit (OP)
We're here for ya
CarnyMAXIMOS_3_N7@reddit
And he gave us his name for a great meme and sound bite.
frizbeeguy1980@reddit
Staged or not, still funny as hell

Minus 50 dkp
doompines@reddit
Because you didn't know what the fuck to do!!

MORE DOTS
Greymeade@reddit
Did anyone ever claim it wasn't a skit? Anyone who played MMOs at the time could tell they were hamming it up and saying things that didn't make sense lol
CubeEarthShill@reddit
In my raiding guild that had multiple server firsts, there were still guys that believed it. I wish I could say they were all naive teens, but a couple that were in their 20s, like me. If people want to believe something is true, they can do a good job convincing themselves it is true
Greymeade@reddit
I can't imagine how that is possible haha... they were talking about things that didn't make any sense.
CubeEarthShill@reddit
One guy I actually remember was a lock that liked to fear mobs in dungeons as “crowd control,” so we aren’t talking about Mensa candidates here.
mutedagain@reddit
I believe it was one of those meetings before a raid and someone went ham. Lololol
Greymeade@reddit
That’s what the skit was, yeah, but it wasn’t real
big_sugi@reddit
Story I heard was that it was a lightly embellished reenactment of a real event.
PropertyTraining4790@reddit
Yeah, its just good internet.
Ok_Mathematician2700@reddit
wheres my Firetree crew at?!
Bulky_Goat_9624@reddit
Leroy Jenkins and Power Thirst were the shit!
TheDevil-YouKnow@reddit
Man, this shit takes me back. ZG AND NAXXARAMIS BABY!
That was my Warlock raiding days. Then BC came out and I got to fucking main my feral druid. And I made Alliance WEEP! For they could never maintain the towers. BWAHAHAHAHAHA.
K2sX@reddit
Ah, the good old days of WoW. Played from release through Pandaland? I think? It brought me my husband. ^.^
Kuroude7@reddit
I least I still got my fried chicken. Bastards.
rob132@reddit
I was an intern at Reader's Digest. I was shown this video by a coworker. I asked a billion questions, and he said "you should just join my guild, we need some healers"
And that's why I graduated college in 5 years instead of 4.

Man, this one missed me somehow and I'm jealous of how much enjoyment you all get out of it. I probably first saw this five years ago and still don't "get" it. I don't even know what video game it's from.
867-53-oh-nein@reddit
Damn this makes me feel old. Met my gf, now wife, 21 years and one month ago.
GangstaRIB@reddit
It was staged... so sad.
TiEmEnTi@reddit (OP)
Ya so is like 95% of comedy, it's still hilarious
Quirky_Dog5869@reddit
When it was actually special that somebody was capturing this.
neuro_space_explorer@reddit
Nothing could live up to what WoW was from beta to first expansion. I had to put in 8,000+ hours.
Even classic can’t live up, because the world and the internet have changed. Some of my best online memories. Fuck now I’m sad.
Fly_Rodder@reddit
Yup, I started about 3 months after launch and played up until BWL and then I was offline for a couple of months while I was moving for a new job. Once I got set up again, my guild had exploded and disbanded. A few people restarted a new one, but it wasn't the same and the raids were less fun and more work. Also I was living on the east coast and playing on a west coast server, so raid times were like 11pm--2AM. I couldn't keep up and bailed. Sold my account for like $600.
I picked it back up after TBC and played for a bit, but it wasn't the same. A few years later I tried again after Panderia and hated it. When they re-released vanilla, I went back, but just didn't have the same feel.
smallwonder25@reddit

brainvheart143@reddit
And there are just so many reminders!! Like wtf. Every day it’s like Kurt Loder is 80…. Your favorite album came out 30 years ago… ugh
smallwonder25@reddit
Kurt Loder is 80?
brainvheart143@reddit
Actually, that is so funny to think about because that means that he is a bit older than my parents, so back then even… He was older than my parents and certainly did not seem that way
smallwonder25@reddit
Same! WTF?
brainvheart143@reddit
81! 🤯
Daylight-Silence@reddit
I feel like I've mostly adjusted to the oldness of music somehow, that tends not to alarm me anymore. But internet memes about MMORPGs being 21 years old...💀
ambercrayon@reddit
It feels like more than 21 years, so yeah
ZanaDreadnought@reddit
Fun fact - that’s my grandfather’s name. And I was nearly named after him.
bassman314@reddit
Around that same time, there was a raid on a funeral.
A player died IRL. His guild had a funeral in game to allow his friends who couldn’t make it to a live funeral could pay their respects.
A rival guild disrupted the proceedings…
YogurtclosetDull2380@reddit
That was like 3 expansions away from Leroy Jenkins
charlie1331@reddit
Ha! I remember that as well.
bassman314@reddit
It was absolutely diabolical to use “Scatman” when the raid started.
SubstanceNo1544@reddit
"Where eagles dare" was also an epic choice for the lead in.
SubstanceNo1544@reddit
Oh that wow funeral raid was epic. The rival guild leader that led the charge was adamant that they had been rivals for so long on that pvp server that it was actually the only proper way to show him respect, one last epic battle.
nopester24@reddit
SmallRocks@reddit
Damn. Leeroy can drink now.

cat_selling_souls@reddit
I'm picturing a middle-aged Leeroy Jenkins, retired in a town somewhere, remembering the good old days. His hair has long since receded, the chicken and ale have taken their toll on his body, in the form of high blood pressure, diabetes, and harden arteries.
He sees a bunch of kids playing with black dragon kites. The memories flood back. He walks into his house and opens a chest. Inside is the armor and guide tabard he wore that day.
He decides to put it all on. It doesn't fit but he uses leather straps to keep it on his plump body. The guild logo is torn and faded. He looks in the mirror, he feels the rush of nostalgia flood his body and mind. He dares to walk out of the house.
Leeroy sees the kids still playing with the kites, he takes a deep breath, and from the center of his being he yells out his name and charges foward with a wooden sword.
Some of the kids hold still other join in on the play. One parent whispers to another as to why he did that. An old timer smiles and tells the parents that that man is the legendary Leeroy Jenkins.
They ask who that is, the person feels too damn old at that moment but tells them the tale of Leeroy Jenkins.
nartimus@reddit
Hey, the dude got his chicken
Combatical@reddit
This happened on my server. while I appreciate the meme and it was funny at the time.. good lord the can or worms it opened in the trade chat .
ChristyLovesGuitars@reddit
What server was it? I was on Medivh pretty much from launch until 2015.
Combatical@reddit
Laughing skull, I rolled horde though back then. I thought medivh was a newer server at the time but I started in beta and was a complete noob. I have foggy memories of the time but I remember this and thunderfury spam constantly.
ChristyLovesGuitars@reddit
thunderfury blessed blade of the windseeker!
