Just a quick summary i got a mk3 jetta original issue was crank no start honestly this is my first project and im feeling kinda helpless. i replaced the fuel pump ignition coil crank position sensor and ran all of the codes on it and im sorta still on square one. and im gonna be completely honest im posting this for a wee bit of help. it cranks it backfires occasionally i cant really pinpoint the source of it. and when i crank it. engine seems to be getting fuel. i even went out of the way one of these days to spray some startup spray right in the intake manifold to see if it would turn over for that. it didnt. i ran the codes on it and it threw a fucking instrument cluster code and the speedo bounces when the key is turned to accessories or cranking. honestly i really love the car its been in my family for 30 years and i really want to see it running again after sitting for forever but im really stuck. this weekend im going to be pulling the distributor and trying to time it. if anyone knows anything i don’t PLEASE give me a helping hand here. as far as i know it should be a timing or sensor issue. nothing fuel related as the start up spray wouldve done something.
