All vehicles will have a digital sign with the speed a vehicle is travelling on the rear, near the brake lights

I would like it to display a throttle position vs speed ratio.
Like I'm giving it all I have, but it still takes a while to get to the speed limit.

This is actually a thing, but instead of a sign, your vehicle has a radio that broadcasts its speed, braking, GPS location, identity, etc. It's called V2X, vehicle-to-everything.
The idea is stoplights can see how many cars are headed their way and how far they are, cars can use that data for adaptive cruise control and save fuel, do your idea with a heads-up-display, etc.
In the US it was deployed in a couple of Cadillacs in 2017 and that's it. The frequencies got taken away for Wi-Fi.
It's big in China, draw your own conclusion.

Mercedes was working on a system like this for car to car to communication. It was aimed at reducing highway crashes where there is a large speed difference due to people slowing down quickly for traffic etc. Not sure if they ever did anything with it.

Dang. My car won’t even tell ME it’s proper speed given the tires aren’t what it thinks they are.
I mean… I has GPS… it could calibrate itself… but it doesn’t. I need Google Maps to tell me how fast I’m actually going at any given time.

Did you check if your car could be reprogrammed. Newer car computers can be told that the tire dimensions changed and it will adapt itself.

Kinda like [ADS-B](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_Dependent_Surveillance%E2%80%93Broadcast) for cars. Kinda cool.

Add a symbol for whether cruise control is on or not and this is a great idea.

I'll accept this CrazyIdea, if you give me one additional number: The speed the vehicle intends to go.
Not really for the "currently 67 but wants to go 80" situation, although it would do that too.
I want it for the "currently 83 but I'm going to return to 72 after I complete this pass." So don't follow me back into the right lane thinking I'm going to maintain 83.

The sign would be bigger than the car!

In a kenworth semi truck I drove a few years back it had a radar for adaptive cruise control and with that radar and the trucks speed I was driving it would tell me on the dash board the actual speed of the vehicle in front of me.
In all actuality, any vehicle with adaptive cruise has this ability baked in with the radar used to track vehicle speed in front. Just manufactures don’t want to display it on the dash for some reason.

When you're coming in an on ramp, there is no vehicle in front yet. Traffic could be going 80+ in a 65. Seeing the speed of every vehicle could make it easier to tell what you need to accelerate to. Also, if people ahead are braking, are they "soft" braking down to 65 because they saw a cop or hard braking to avoid an accident
