Moving back to lebanon from Canada

Hi everyone,
Im a 27F who moved from Lebanon to Canada in 2023 due to the political crisis. I have been in Canada for almost 2 years now.
I know the job opportunities in Lebanon arent the best but I want to know what people think on this situation?
Am I actually destroying my future by wanting to go back or could something blossom out of it?

It is a huge mistake given the political and military situation.

Especially if you are from an area Israel thinks should belong to them. They tend to keep expanding every direction.
I don't know much about the political situation there but I know that Israel has flattened parts of Lebanon in preparation to move in homesteaders. Much like they have done to Gaza. I would not want to be their neighbor.

One option is to get canadian citizenship and move to US on TN visa. Big lebanese community and better jobs in US.

more citizenship by convenience nonsense

NAFTA profession list is an outdated list with restricted profession. Mass media study likely doesn’t fit into the category.

What is your field of work? Very few countries compete with Canada in terms of salaries but it's of course important that you love your environment.

Currently, I dont have a specific field considering after moving to canada, I picked up part timer gigs. I barely got any where with a career like job due to constant rejections. Im guessing to answer your question, I studied mass media

Canada's salary isn't good for its cost of living, especially for entry level positions. Maybe going back is a good idea, but I am not sure about Lebanon's condition, but at least Canada doesn't have war. I am an immigrant too, and I think I like Canada's nature the best, but nothing else competes against my own country to be honest.

It's cost of living are high, but there's way around it. You can choose to live a more affordable lifestyle. You can't do that in Lebanon because salaries are really low in the first place.
Competitive-Papaya26@reddit
Yes, if op has to choose between the two, maybe it's Canada but if op has other choices, there should be one better than Canada.

Then I'm sorry then I think it's a terrible idea to move to Lebanon at this time, at least financially.

The questions lie in: 1. Were you able to obtain Canadian PR/ citizenship? If so, feel free to move. If it’s bad, worst case you can comeback to Canada 2. Do you have any relatives/friends/parents in Canada at all?

If you think you can grow in your career in Lebanon then its a right step. If not there is nothing better than living in a English speaking country that has opportunities.

I have a half Lebanese cousin that moved to the US as an adolescent during the war in Lebanon in the 80s. She still misses it. Only you know what is right for you.

Go home to Lebanon! The food is so much better 😋😋😋

I totally get what you are going through. Many responses won't be able to understand WTF is going on in Canada, how it f-up your brain. People think Canada = Quickfix. I wish you all the best and hope you find your way back to your land. Personally, I know one Lebanese who just had had enough, packed it all up and left 2 years ago with the attitude that "will see". She hasn't come back and seems happy living in a village. Sometimes, you need to see the world out there to get it out of your system and appreciate the little, simple things of life within your own community. My coworker is Lebanese and moved to Canada in 2022. She has aged so fast in 3 years and kept telling that she's just dragging through her life here in Canada, that's how she feels, "Dragging."

No-one can know but u & those around u really, you’ll know ur wants, skills and situation best. Talk to any friends & family u have back in Lebanon, particularly the specific region/s that ur looking to reside; they’ll be able to give u some personal insight about day-to-day life, what’s changed, what hasn’t, opportunities & concerns etc
Obviously ur financial situation will factor in, as well though you’ll need to think carefully about what an acceptable level of risk is to you, and what realistically you’d be able to do if that changes (eg would u be able to return to Canada or otherwise exit the country again if needed).
Everyone has a different line with acceptable risk, and it’s a bit of a cost benefit thing

So you want to move to a war-zone that may be in a civil was soon or just get invaded more by it’s neighbors to the south, north and east? My dude, you are in a stable country. So many want to be in your place. Put your head down, work hard so that you can make it better after a bit more time. There is a possibility Lebanon may not exist soon enough.
East_Appearance1174@reddit
Yeah I was about to say Lebanon is not that possibly about to collapse.
Exsolution1756@reddit
Venezuela actually had a leader the US could kidnap. Lebanon doesn’t even have a leader.
East_Appearance1174@reddit
I don’t mean kidnap I mean collapse like Venezuela did in the late 2010’s in the end of the day Maduro and Chavez did take the country from one of the top five in Latin America economically to the biggest failed state outside a war zone with a migration crisis the size of the Lebanese population.
