Why doesn’t the UK seem to have female butlers or ‘buff butler’ equivalents as a legitimate profession — is it cultural, legal, or just lack of demand?

They literally do. Put "naked female cleaners UK" into Google and you will get a plethora of sites. There even article been written about it in places like [The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news/im-naked-cleaner-sometimes-clients-31350531).

No, they’re a v different service. A butler serves drinks/ food, plays games and generally entertains. Yes they’re semi clothed but they don’t undress any more than the apron they show up wearing

For the right fee, of course a stripper could do the same. Though their full time work is likely to pay considerably better than working as a ‘naked butler ‘ at a hen/ stag party. My point is, there’s a huge market for male butlers and you just don’t really see the same demand for females. Yes there are bottle girls. Yes there are strippers. The realm somewhere inbetween seems like it’s lacking

In my experience, 5/5 hen’s I’ve been to in recent years have all had a buff butler. All different towns/ cities and all very different brides and social circles. Maybe huge is a stretch, but it’s certainly a popular service

No. The 'buff butlers' will be in the same state of undress for the entire evening. There is no stripping. Just naked(ish?) guys serving drinks and etc.

That’s a great point re strip clubs that I hadn’t really considered. Most of my male friends have been to one at some point purely for fun, multiple times if you include stag do’s. Culturally, stag’s are sort of seen as a final blow out for men. The sentiment for a hen do for women is a little different

That’s a great point re strip clubs that I hadn’t really thought of. Most of my male friends have been to one at some point in their life, often on stag do’s that’s seen as one last blow out with the boys. Hen do’s are often softer, rent a house, do some fun activities, a buff butler is a fun novelty

Historic I think, men were butlers, and women became housekeepers and nannies. In fact one of the prestigious institutions for training nannies is in the UK. It might not be, but the terminology OP is after directly links to domestic staffing terms. Women were not butlers, they were maids. The one you replied to just threw out extra unrelated info.

Uhhh we definitely do. We have topless waitressing/hostessing (source: stripper who has an entertainment agency and has done this for years) And also hostesses for corporate events are very much a thing too....

We pay serving staff reasonable wages so (at least until recently) there was no culture of significant tipping, hence no business models turned up specifically securing low wage staff with an opportunity to troll for tips (hooters etc).
