What cologne these days?

Xennial men, what cologne are you wearing these days? My curve is running low, and so is my bath and body works marble. I am also a fan of the bath and body works ocean scent. Suggestions for something new?
G0R_G0R@reddit
I have a problem….
NW_Forester@reddit
Burberry - London and Armani - Mania
In general "day scents" don't work on me and "evening scents" work amazing.
wiserTyou@reddit
I've had burberry for men for almost 20 years. I had one bottle of London and it was okay, I prefer classic though.
leetoe@reddit
I go back and forth between the two.
VWBug5000@reddit
London has been my favorite for years. If you like that type of scent, check out Dior Sauvage Elixir
JohnsonSmithDoe@reddit
I have the opposite problem. L'Homme YsL my daily driver.
petetrerice@reddit
Love London - an ex got me hooked on it, it’s my backup to Hero
impliedapathy@reddit
Still got a bottle of this 😂
foreskinboots@reddit
My man lol. I still wear this ad well.
DF7501@reddit
I can smell this through my iPad screen.
RainRepresentative11@reddit
Oh man. I broke my bottle in like 1999.
ProphetWithTourettes@reddit
I bought a bottle for my son for Christmas. He gets lots of compliments. Still smells great
TheGreatRobu13@reddit
I still remember my 5th grade teacher wearing this, and chewing peppermint gum. To this day, when I smell this scent, I think of that.
penguinwasteland1414@reddit
If you're looking for something at a lower price point that really does the job, try Nautica Voyage. It's the unsung workhorse of the men's fragrance world.
Outside_Wrongdoer340@reddit
Someone told me I smelled great the other day I told them it was CK1. (I am a woman.) Anyway they said, what's CK1. I was floored.

You can wear this, but only if you wore the shirts as a kid.
But seriously, this Lacoste L 12.12 Silver is my new go-to. It smells great.
D34N2@reddit
Whatever it is my wife bought me.
CreativeFedora@reddit
I only have one choice. Eternity by Calvin Klein. Only because my in-laws kept gifting me a bottle each Christmas. I have 3. 🤣
RainRepresentative11@reddit
I still have a bottle of that, too!
Ray_the_tiki_guy@reddit
My in laws got me a huge as bottle of Halston, 3 years in a row. I never told them I liked it, I don’t wear that style sent. My father in law asked me in year “do you like that Halston shit?” I was laughing so hard when he said that!
lrdwlmr@reddit
I pretty much never wear cologne anymore and haven't for years - not since I started working from home, at least - but that's been my go-to since high school.
CreativeFedora@reddit
I’m on a mission to use it all up! I also work from home and am a stay at home parent. Any trip outside that’s not for exercise, I’m spraying up. 🤣
RainRepresentative11@reddit
Still Nautica. My gf found it on some website.
jujumber@reddit
I'm still rockin Aqua Di Gio. I get a crazy amount of compliments on how good I smell.
Nightsong1005@reddit
My partner wears this, and can confirm it smells nice to both of us. Crisp, clean fresh linen scent meets ocean water.
Indubitalist@reddit
I don’t get how anyone can think ocean water is a good smell.
icanhaztuthless@reddit
I always feel like when people talk about the smell of the ocean, they’re thinking of sweet salty coco butter and salt spray, not what the ocean actually smells like. Like, you’re in love with the idea of smelling pleasant scents when you think of the beach, but not the smell of rotting fish and sea kelp etc etc.
Nightsong1005@reddit
Yes, its that exactly. Used to live near the beach and don't miss the low tide smell at all.
ImTheHollaBackGirl@reddit
I used to live near the beach and now live away. When I go back home, I hang my head out the window like a dog because I love the smell of low tide so much.
Nightsong1005@reddit
I miss the seagulls and Canadian geese calling, the sound of the foghorn, and how the fog swallowed up most sounds.
KingdomOfFawg@reddit
Yeah, “ocean water” isn’t low tide.
Vprbite@reddit
Hey don't kink shame me
CariniFluff@reddit
That's right, because everyone should actually smell like the beach, not the ocean. Kramer approved.
Vprbite@reddit
Butros butros golly
ennuiismymiddlename@reddit
Kramer would know. His buttocks are sublime!

It’s like the black eye at the heart of the white yin symbol/fish. Ambergris. Musk. You need a little dirt in there.
tubagoat@reddit
Same. A little dab will do ya.
GarblingCumfarts@reddit
I wish my girlfriend's son would understand this. He has a cologne addiction, has literally thousands of dollars in cologne. The whole front of the house smells like a department store. You can smell him from 100ft away downwind because he probably sprays it 8-10 times on every inch of his clothes.
She always brings up a fair point, he could smell like a Magic: The Gathering conference of BO and unwashed ass, so she's right about that.
Practical_Two_4725@reddit
8 to 10 yuck.

Gamecockgirl79@reddit
My stepson smells like he bathed in it. A couple of weeks ago he got in my car with the worst smelling cologne ever. The windows immediately went down and stayed that way until he got out. His dad told him he smelled like a cheap whore 🤣

walleyeguy306@reddit
This has been my go too forever haha. Also really like Ralph Lauren polo sport and Hugo boss
OkFeedback9127@reddit
Wait… you guys are getting compliments?
jujumber@reddit
I'm actually getting more compliments now than ever before. I pretty much quit drinking and found a great Barber. A fresh haircut makes a huge difference. It's pretty much the only time I catch girls checking me out.
FrozenOcean420@reddit
I’ve been getting compliments for decades on my Old spice pure sport deodorant
Vprbite@reddit
Facts!
ICPGr8Milenko@reddit
Been wearing this for over 20 years, but as much as the wife loves it because it's the scent she associated with me (first scent of me she ever smelled), I find myself wearing Mistral (bourbon & vanilla) or Sandalwood (Truefitt & Hill) because those are her favorites. I still like them and think they smell good, but Aqua Di Gio is my absolute favorite. Just gotta remember that I'm wearing it for her and not necessarily myself. lol
Vprbite@reddit
Sandlewood always up to no good
AbsoluteAtBase@reddit
Yeah that is all I will ever wear, I’m pretty sure

The_Best_Yak_Ever@reddit
It’s such a classic fragrance! I have it in my little rotation, and have the scent in oil form, so turn it into soap, aftershaves, beard oil, and candles.
It’s a bit of a double edged sword in a sense. Because in my experience anyway, so many women have douchebag exes who wore it! So I’ll occasionally have women tell me that they, “like it on [me], but it reminds me of [him]!” Haha
I wear it as a summer fragrance due to its crisp and cool essence, that I feel goes really well with sun and heat.
Just_Me_79@reddit
My husband wears this and I can say I LOVE it!
dogtor_howl@reddit
This is what my husband still wears. Smells super fresh!
LisaferMorningstar@reddit
On recommendation I bought this for my spouse as a gift, who never really wore cologne, and he loves it and wears it every day.
He returned the gesture and bought me Aqua di Gioa and I get compliments often.

SolutionMaterial2279@reddit
Got my husband the blue Versace and I absolutely hate it but he loves it . That smell is lingering in my house for hours. I wish he drops the bottle . I‘m taking notes here for the next one to buy him that smells better than this lol

Tommy or Issey Miyake
over_the_pants_party@reddit
Been using Issey Miyake for almost 20 years now; super light, not overpowering, and I've never had anyone hate it.
Clean_Task5172@reddit
Leau Diseey is the classic, but Le Sel Dissey is better
over_the_pants_party@reddit
I haven't tried Le Sel, just been using the tried and true. How different is it?
Clean_Task5172@reddit
Quite a bit. Not as heavy yuzu, slightly green, has a sparkling quality to it. It’s worth it if you’re a fan of the house.
LionVega@reddit
TIL. Gonna have to check this one out. Thanks!
Clean_Task5172@reddit
Hell yeah. But I’m gate keeping La Nuit Dissey
over_the_pants_party@reddit

bunzburnerrr@reddit
Issey all the way. I can smell its light and distinct scent on a guy from several feet away. Underrated.

I wear a creed aventus clone. Today's colognes all smell like chemicals and laundry that sat wet for too long.
Spiritual-Promise402@reddit

PM_ME_UR_BEST_1LINER@reddit
Creed Aventus
doxiedogguy@reddit
People still want to smell not like they smell? I’m at age where that’s so fucking off to me. Seems like your body is producing smells for reason to address…not mask with toilet water from hard earned money
illinest@reddit
The purpose of the cologne is to mask the smell of your stank.
doxiedogguy@reddit
My point is…maybe the stank should be addressed at internal level and not MASKED to cover a foul odor from your pores???? Yuck
illinest@reddit
I wasn't talking about myself.
Maybe you shower regularly but that doesnt mean you dont smell like anything. Suggesting that hygienic and unscented are the same thing is pretty wild. That's not even close to being true.
At best - maybe you only smell like the coffee you're drinking. But maybe you also smell like unburnt diesel from your truck, or the cigarette smoke from the group of smokers that you just walked past. Maybe you smell like the hotdogs at the gas station, or the smoke from your neighbors wood stove, or manure from the pig farm that you just drove past. And maybe you really do only smell like your freshly showered self but that still doesn't mean that I want to have to smell you. The purpose of everybody else's cologne is so that they can avoid having to smell you.
You don't wear cologne for other people, you wear it for yourself.
If you ever find a scent that you like - even if that scent is just a tiny bit better than smelling other people's stale hotdog farts and tuna leftovers, then you should buy that scent and figure out the minimum amount to use. If you manage to do this right then people won't even register it as a cologne that you're wearing. They'll just subliminally prefer being around you.
doxiedogguy@reddit
Plus…you’re making another man’s scent “your” scent which means the woman smelling you wants to smell THE OTHER MAN!!!! Yall miss basic chemistry and biology???
Vaguely_vacant@reddit
Haven’t worn cologne in 20 years.
MaverickGalaxyJam@reddit

This is what my wife prefers, it’s fine but reminds me a bit of leaving a fancy barber shop. I’m more of a MALIN and GOETZ guy: cannabis or dark rum depending on how I feel, my travel deodorant is their bergamot fragrance.
porkpie1028@reddit
I go between this, Creed Royal Oud, and Aventus.
spraypaintsaint@reddit
Whoa, crazy. Aventus and Oud Wood have been my staples for a few years now, and I've been thinking about picking up a sample of Royal Oud to try it out. I guess I'll have to now!
Ch4rlie_G@reddit

The latest version of Very Sexy for Him from Victoria’s Secret. It’s decent. I prefer the VSFM2 but it’s no longer in stores. You can pay a few hundred bucks for a bottle if you’d like.

As a lady in peri who gained the ability to super smell, I would love the answers to all be nothing. I can track everywhere you have been over the past hour by following your chem trail and having you one cube over from me in office gives me headaches. If they only would let me WFH full time.

As a woman very into perfume and scents. Definitely try a sample of this niche perfume called Sonder by Elysium. I've bought quite a few different colognes for him throughout the years and it's by far my favorite. It smells incredible. Like a rich put together dude.
Notes from their website: Clean sheets and salty shores, bergamot, lemon, orange tree absolute, Jamaican ginger, Bulgarian roses, sweet magnolia, green apple, vetiver, jasmine, sandalwood, and vanilla.
BasicRabbit4@reddit

Two short, light spritz’: neck and forearm. Then rub the forearms together. You’ve created a nice zone where anyone close enough can smell it, but no one else. If anyone complains, they need to back up.
If you read this and think “no, I would still be sensitive!” Maybe you aren’t meant to walk around in the world. Get to a cave or offshore or something.

Dizzy-Ad1673@reddit
I kind of love having a partner that can’t deal with scents and prompted me to go scent free with everything. Wearing cologne/perfume these days is right up there with smoking a cigarette indoors and you don’t even get that sweet sweet nicotine.
Speaking of which, another good reason to lose the scents - we’re not all trying to cover up cigs anymore.
TiEmEnTi@reddit
Yeeeah, it was the "cigarette" smell I was trying to cover up, totally

Please yes!! Bath and Body Works especially, can't take those toxic chemical scents. How I ever slathered myself with their lotions as a teenager I will never know...
ValancyNeverReadsit@reddit
Walking past The Body Shop in the mall in the 90s used to give me a headache. I couldn’t even walk in there until I was older because they must have toned down their scents a bit. I’m not even sensitive to scents, like, at all.
theprofromdover@reddit
That was me with Yankee Candle. I think my sense of smell has just degraded with age. I don't notice these types of smells near as much and. Maybe that s the upside to getting older to counteract my eyes get worse.
ValancyNeverReadsit@reddit

ennuiismymiddlename@reddit
Indeed, one is by default a super smeller if they are a super taster. The two super senses work hand in hand.
TiEmEnTi@reddit

Armaf everyday for me. I've had women from GenZ to little old ladies call out who is wearing that, and what is it? I think pheromones are horseshit, but if they were such a thing I imagine the response would be similar. It is definitely not because of my striking good looks, that's for sure.

I make my own scents with essential oils. Lately I’m loving Petit Grain (from the stems and leaves of the Bitter Orange tree. It has a very clean, fresh, slightly earthy masculine scent.) I also make my own Bay Rum fragrance. Woodsy, spicy, citrusy. Oh, and a tiny bit of Patchouli mixed with some kind of citrus like lemon or lime is really nice in hot summer weather.

I wear a variety. Some unique to me, as I have a small soap, perfume/cologne, candle and other toiletries business.
My mainstay is Gucci Guilty, which pulls down a lot of compliments from women, and funnily, I work in the school system as a psychologist, and once had just left a classroom before realizing I had forgotten something, and reentered the room in time to hear two middle school boys talking about me.
“Dang, he smells good.”
“He always smells good.”
I’m sure that little interaction was easy to forget for them, and didn’t make them wince in embarrassment when they think about it… I could tell both were extremely embarrassed, so I just said “thanks! Means a lot boys!” Without sarcasm, as it was a genuine compliment.
When I’m working my other job as a range master and pistol instructor, I’m usually wearing Fierce by Abercrombie and Fitch, because one of our shooters told one of my guys that she wanted “the Abercrombie model looking guy” to come help her, so… it felt right, and I have always loved the fragrance, like olfactory nostalgia…
For special occasions, I wear a unique scent I call the Celestial Wood, which is based in mahogany and sandalwood, with Arabian spices, vanilla, with bergamot top notes. I developed it myself, is very popular with my regulars. Two of them describe it as “orgasmic” which I thought was high praise, especially since the two women don’t know each other, so I was gratified that they both chose such a specific descriptor!
Beyond that I have Acqua di Gio, Nautica Latitude Longitude (an objectively bad scent, but my high school cologne that is 2001 in a bottle for me! … a very very expensive bottle, as it’s been discontinued for twenty plus years…).
I also have CK Encounter, which has a really simple woodsy scent that I really love. Plus, that was the only cologne a coworker/friend got mentally derailed by, and as we were talking about it work problem, she just stopped dead in her tracks and said, “Jesus Christ, smell so good and are so hot right now! I want to jump you!” Before sanity reasserted itself, and her hands flew up to her mouth with her eyes open wide. So. High praise, indeed!

My husband has tried other colognes over the years, but any time I find it I buy him CK Be. To this day it's still my favourite!

I like colognes even though I don't wear them that much. Usually when I need a new bottle I'll go to Sephora and try a bunch out. I'm currently using Montblanc Legend Eau de Parfum.

My husband always smells awesome, and when I compliment him, it's either his Old Spice deodorant, his beard oil (usually has sandalwood in it) or some heavenly combo of the two. If he ever switched to cologne, I might die because those smells are too much for me when I whiff them around the office.

Last time I tried out wearing cologne it was around 1997. That shit is gross.

None. Just lotion for a subtle and pleasant smell. Wearing cologne after 40 is kinda not my thing. there’s shifting social and biological preferences going on that really affect that decision. Statistically, fragrance sensitivity increases with age: roughly 30% of adults over 40 report migraines or respiratory irritation from perfumes according to a 2016 Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology study. Meanwhile, your own sense of smell declines, leading many older men to over use them thus creating a cloud that many find overpowering. There was a survey on YouGov a couple years ago that shows that more than half of the people asked dislike strong cologne on men over 40, associating it with trying too hard. Add to that mature skin holds synthetic musk longer, cranking up that smell longer, and you risk being memorable for the wrong reason.

Never wore cologne in my life. The closest I ever came was when, as a kid, I'd put on some of dad's Old Spice after shave.
sarithe@reddit
I wear the Bath and Body Works Bourbon cologne.
My wife loves it and that's really all that matters to me when it comes to colognes these days.

I used to wear lacoste essential for years. I smelled it on a magazine and was hooked on it back in the early 2000s. I have been rocking old spice lately though lol

I found a British brand that makes wet-shaving supplies. Taylor of Old Bond Street. They (along with Geo F Trumper) have been around for over a hundred years and still maintain brick and mortar stores in Piccadilly in London. You can get most of their stuff online.
I love their Eton College and Sandalwood scents. I also love their Grapefruit and Sandalwood shaving creams.
Simple, clean and classic!
Substantial_Rise3318@reddit
When I do wear it, which isn't often since I started working remote in 2021, I have one called Vaquero. It's a subtler scent than a lot of them out there
_shaftpunk@reddit
I went back to Cool Water. Fuck it.
OkBaconBurger@reddit
I live life unscented. Soaps, laundry, deodorant… as unscented or low scent as possible. Went that em way when it would cause our first kid to break out in a rash as a baby and now I’ve never looked back. Today, clothes washed in scented detergents come across as really strong smelling and unpleasant.

Most body scent products cause terrible allergies for my airways so I don’t do any. There was a time in my youth where I’d wear Cool Water or Acqua Di Gio before everything changed in my 30’s and I’m now super allergic to airborne irritants for the most part.
derfzinkerbelle@reddit
I'm still wearing Obsession for Men and Eternity for Men. Aqua di Gio gets honorable mention as I really like the scent but its too $$ (same for Eros).
SteelGemini@reddit
A little of this, a little of that. It depends on what I'm in the mood for. I generally gravitate towards marine scents, but occasionally prefer something spicier.

All my boyfriends for class of 1998 wore Drakkar Noir, Coolwater or Tommy. The fact that i actually still know this is frightening. but points for my old ass memory working. I swear i can still smell them all in my head!

Please don't. Strong fragrances can be extremely offensive and there are many who have chemical sensitivities...

I tend to hate the scent of most after the first hours but someone gifted me a sample from a local brand (Spain) called IAP 71+ and it's actually pleasant over a couple days. Nothing crazy just a mix of wooden, vanilla and flowery.
