What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread
Posted by AutoModerator@reddit | cars | View on Reddit | 10 comments
Any posts pertaining to car buying suggestions or advice belong in this weekly megathread; do not post car-choosing questions in the main queue. A fresh thread will be posted every Monday and posts auto sorted by new. A few other subreddits worth checking out that will help your car buying experience are /r/WhatCarShouldIBuy, /r/UsedCars and /r/AskCarSales. www.everydaydriver.com may also be helpful.
Make/Model-specific questions should be asked on Make/Model-specific subreddits. Check the AutosNetwork for a complete list of those subreddits. Also check out our community-sourced Ultimate car buying wiki.

Location: DMV Price: up to 75k, maybe higher
Vehicles Considered: Mx5 RF club Nissan z Nismo BMW m 2 Brz/gr86 Gr Corolla Wrx
I'm leaning heavily towards the Miata, the nismo, and the BRZ, with the nismo kind of winning out. Those are kind of my top three contenders right now.
I'm single and I don't haul anything. This would be a daily driver and a fun car.

Since it sounds like you’re looking for a sports car to daily, 75k gets you a great 987.2 Cayman S or 997.2 Carrera with a manual. Both can easily be dailied in your situation while still retaining the character of a sports car with a great sounding flat six, hydraulically assisted steering, RWD, and relatively low weight. If you want something more contemporary and are willing to stretch a little bit, you can find a 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 around the 80k mark if you look around enough.

Will you track the car?

You know if I have to be honest... Probably not. I have friends who do it professionally but they would have to drag me out there.
Sweetwhitecamry@reddit
For 75K my choices would be M2, M4, C7 Z06, Cayman S
CrankyCurmedgeon@reddit
If your budget goes up to $75K have you considered a Cayman S/ older GTS?
-Coffee-and-Sarcasm-@reddit
I will look into that thank you.

Miserable_Note_262@reddit
Location: United States - New England
Price range: Nothing more than $15,000
New or used: Definitely used
Type of vehicle: preferably a small SUV
Must haves: AWD or 4 wheel drive, reliable - I need something that will last me a while (my current car has 290,000+ miles on it)
Desired transmission (auto/manual, etc): automatic
Intended use: Daily use. I tend to only go 100 miles a week.
Vehicles you've already considered: I currently have a Subaru and love it. Im just not sure what else compares
Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle: Yes!
Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: some things probably but depends on what it is
Additional comments: I’m really looking for something that is reliable, does well in the snow/mud, and doesn’t have serious known problems! I don’t need a whole lot of space but cannot drive small cars. I don’t like being low to the ground and have long legs. I travel within a 40 mile radius for work so good gas mileage would be nice but I rarely travel in the city or highway. Mostly New England “back roads”.
Thank you!!
