A plate of frozen berries. I’m telling ya: let it thaw for about 20 minutes and it’s absolutely amazing just by itself.

Idk why but I felt like 90% of the berries melted and evaporated in the second pic
Tatra_Cryptid@reddit
Even better, chop them up with grapes and lemon juice and mix it up before freezing, you het a giant enrichment cube you need to stab to be able to eat
DarTouiee@reddit
Wait until you discover reusable dishes!
MumblePig@reddit
Mix fresh berries with seal or caribou fat and freeze it. You'll have traditional primitive survival food of the arctic.
timothypjr@reddit
Take a glass, fill it with frozen berries, pour milk (or a substitute) to create a drink/smoothie dessert. The berries will freeze the milk into slush, berry-flavored delightful slush.
theonewhodidthat@reddit
Americans and their paper plates, plastic cutlery…you’re at home judging by the picture. Can’t you wash a dish?
Cigi_94@reddit

Waste_Wind_8760@reddit
Whats the problem with frozen fruits? It’s healthier and dosen’t go bad
Artemis2462@reddit
So what if he buys frozen fruit? They are flash frozen in their prime freshness. They don't need any extra preservatives because freezing stuff is the preservative. It lasts much longer and it's cheaper and you're more likely to get actual fresh fruit then you would if you bought them non Frozen.
DragonSlayerC@reddit
TBH, frozen fruit is better than fresh unless you're buying directly from a local farmer.
conflictedideology@reddit
Yep, as long as you're using it for something where the texture is less important. Frozen fruit and veg has solved my "aspirational produce" problem.
That's where I say "I'm gonna eat more healthy!" and buy a bunch of fruit and vegetables. But then have motivation issues and most of it rots in the fridge.
With frozen, it's ready for me when I'm ready for it.

They probably have dishwasher and lazy to wash by hand themselves
AppUnwrapper1@reddit
It’s crazy bc washing a regular dish by hand (one that doesn’t have cheese or something stuck to it) takes about 3 seconds.
_Meece_@reddit
Washing a Family of 8's dishes does not take 3 mins. It takes my nephews about 60ish minutes to do the dishes.
AppUnwrapper1@reddit
We’re talking about one dish here, dude.
_Meece_@reddit
Yeah big families have a lot of shit to go through and not much space to store it.
We're talking about why a household would use expendable cutlery/plates. Because washing 25 sets of plates/cutlery + cookware a day is time consuming.
DatomasSigma@reddit
In my house everyone washed the dishes they used.
_Meece_@reddit
Sounds like a shit house
DatomasSigma@reddit
Thats a reasonable assumption based on that statement
_Meece_@reddit

AppUnwrapper1@reddit
You need help.
AppUnwrapper1@reddit
If everyone just washed their dishes immediately after using them it wouldn’t be an issue. The problem is you’re letting the dishes build up in the sink/dishwasher till you run out. That can happen with a single person, too. The problem is not that you’re using dishes, it’s that you’re not washing them until they build up.
And again, this is about one person using one bowl. Jesus fucking Christ stop trying to justify the laziness.
_Meece_@reddit
That's not how life works, what is best is that a family has a clean kitchen and sometimes to make that possible. A big family needs expendable items.
One meal results in about 10 dishes. People have things to do after breakfast, after lunch, after dinner is the only dishwashing time.
Therefore washing 30 dishes a day is a pointless affair. Slim that down to cookware and washing dishes goes from 1-2 hour per day job, to 15 mins per day.

Usually just lazy or poor and no running water
barlob@reddit
This pisses me off on like 1 in 4 photos on this sub. It's not at all hard to wash a dish. Someone always acts like it's some big deal and there is a good reason to be using paper plates or Styrofoam at home.
I once had someone tell me I was being insensitive because OP could be disabled and unable to wash the dish.
Artemis2462@reddit
I don't wash dishes because I hate how dry my hands are after because of the soap. Plus depression exists. There are so many reasons why somebody finds it really difficult to do simple cleaning tasks. You're just a dick if you're gonna judge before thinking about all the possibilities.
zesmz@reddit
Do you guys not have washing up gloves in America lol?
barlob@reddit
Shut up
UnreachableMemory@reddit
Don't pin this on all Americans. Using paper plates all the time isn't normal.
smolfatfok@reddit
Not all, but still the majority. I had to convince my American friends to eat from normal plates by pointing out that their dog gets to eat from a real plate, while they were eating off paper plates like animals. This finally changed their minds.
AppUnwrapper1@reddit
That reminds me of the one and only Wife Swap episode I watched. The mom made her family eat off paper while her dogs ate off fine china. That shit scarred me, man.
1MechanicalAlligator@reddit
Ever heard, "birds of a feather, flock together"?
Your lazy friends who eat like animals (in your words) aren't likely to be hanging out with lots of super neat and organized people. You can't judge the majority based on their limited social circle.
UnreachableMemory@reddit
I don't know what circle of people you're hanging out with but it is absolutely not the majority.
BTW OP appears to be a trucker which explains why he uses them.
notabigmelvillecrowd@reddit
Definitely not normal, but it appears to be common.
Artemis2462@reddit
🙄 what is up with the American obsession? Just because you don't use paper plates and plastic cutlery does it mean nobody else in your country doesn't. Focus on your own life instead of obsessing about what Americans do and don't do.
theonewhodidthat@reddit
lol one comment = obsession? You’ve left a bunch of butthurt comments in this thread, so who’s obsessed? Sounds like an American who uses disposable dishes due to being lazy and wasteful and doesn’t like being called out. As your president would say, sad.

theonewhodidthat@reddit
Agreed, USA has a huge population. But the overlap between the kind of person who discovers fruit as an adult and posts about it like it’s new and the kind of person to use a paper plate at home is substantial.
idontknowjuspickone@reddit
Do you think most Americans do this…
timok@reddit
No, but it is way more common over there.
Using paper plates is basically unheard of where I am from, aside from maybe when you have a party or something.

Linked713@reddit
I brush my teeth twice a day, I do not use white stripes. Some people are predominant to get all kinds of issues, including teeth problems. I have had so many things done in my mouth, had to remove 4 teeth, all 4 wisdom teeth, tug some from my gums, braces, etc.
it is easy to say "it is not normal" and you are right, but a lot of people have to deal with "not normal" and for a lot of people it is not because they have made a bad decision, but because they were dealt a series of cards that are not in their favour.

BlauMink@reddit
Frozen fruit tastes better because the tiny Ice crystals that form break the cellulose and free the natural suggars from the cells of the fruit, making them super juicy and delicious!
DragonSlayerC@reddit
Frozen fruit tastes better than fresh in most cases though.
bweeeoooo@reddit
Frozen berries are way cheaper to buy in my neck of the woods, especially when they go on sale.
gordom90@reddit
it IS more likely to go bad in the fridge tho if you are anything like me
BlauMink@reddit
The Ice breaks up the cellulose and frees all that sugars and fructose contained in the cells, making them extra juicy and delicious!
curseblock@reddit
I used to put frozen fruit in a cup and pour milk over it. Let it hang out a bit, smash it up some... Almost a smoothie, but with less to clean.
tetlee@reddit
You can get small blenders where you do it in the cup upside down and the blade part on the bottom you can just rinse off
curseblock@reddit
You're comfortable just rinsing off milk?
tetlee@reddit
Off the blade a few moments after using it? Yeah. I could put it in the dishwasher but it's just going to basically be rinsed in there too.
curseblock@reddit
Look who's got a dishwasher and enough plates and bowls and cups to fill it 💅🏻
Ambitious-Scallion36@reddit
I make refrigerator oats with them. Oats mixed with a little milk stirred in, then topped with frozen fruit. In the morning, the fruit is slushy and smashes into the oats so it's also kinda like a smoothis. If I wanna get fancy I'll top with toasted almonds and coconut flakes.
mr_emu@reddit
Omg I do this with coconut water!! It becomes like a bit of a slushie. Soo good

curseblock@reddit
If I wanted to wash a bunch more dishes, sure. But I specifically said it was like a smoothie but without a blender.
lellololes@reddit
Yep, I get that.
There are blenders intended for this stuff where the only extra dish is the blade, you just use the blender cup for the smoothie.
curseblock@reddit
Blades are annoying to clean 💁🏼♂️
And again, I was a kid when I did that. I'd still do it my usual way today because I don't plan to buy something new for an occasional treat.

Whipped cream makes this a luxury dessert. Don't buy a can just a small thing if cream and then whisk (if you have an electric hand mixer this takes but a minute for a small batch). Throw frozen berries in there, maybe a biscuit or cookie or two. If you like yogurt then fold some yogurt into the whipped cream before adding goodies. It'll keep for a day so you can make them at night and have one serving right then and save the rest for breakfast/the next day.
Single bowl/dish food items can be really amazing with very little work, and incredibly better for you than highly refined foods.
