What kind of plane is the small rear twinjet shown here (being decontaminated/tested)?

Don't worry people, I will stop the hentaivirus from getting us.
FappyDaffy64@reddit
I’ve worked personally on this aircraft, (and towed it around more time than I feel I’ve had hot dinners!)
It’s likely LX-RHC, which was a Bombardier Challenger 605 converted as an air ambulance
nonreligious2@reddit (OP)
Very cool, thanks!
A_Bird_Guy@reddit
Challanger 600 series, i think its the 605 but might be the more modern 650. they are modified to be air ambulance, probable with equipment for ICU and other high risk patience

That’s a bingo
Icy-Bar-9712@reddit
You just say bingo

Hantavirus flight for anyone interested: https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/world/594473/person-who-died-of-hantavirus-briefly-on-klm-flight-airline

"Who wants to fly on her next?" 😂
fartew@reddit
I know it'sa joke, but tbh I'd rather fly on a plane that has recently had an infected passenger and was then decontaminated palm by palm, than on a plane that had no known infected passengers before

Eh, viruses, unlike bacteria, can't really survive on surfaces for long. Viruses require additional host cells to infect to spread and live, so virus cells in the air, on surfaces, are dead in hours. In a week it'll be safe.

I thought I was in the wrong sub because I'm a kiwi and didn't realise how this was connected to home (our person is flying home later today on Monday with the Australians). Turns out RNZ is syndicating the AFP newswire lol
Speedymcspeeder@reddit
I think it is a CRJ2? I can't remember if the larger ones have the stairs. It's been a while.
ren_yucheng@reddit
Dead giveaway on CRJs is the APU inlet at the base of the vertical stabilizer. This one doesn’t have that.
CAVU1331@reddit
Both the CRJ and the 600’s have an APU inlet in the same spot, but the CRJ has a movable door, and the Challenger has a fixed lip on the inlet.
ren_yucheng@reddit
Whoops. I need to look more closely.
jggearhead10@reddit
Close. It was made by the same company so shares a lot of design similarities. As others have said, this is a Bombardier Challenger 605
nonreligious2@reddit (OP)
Yeah, that could be it. I was struck by the size and position of the engines when viewed from this angle.
teknovision@reddit
What kind of ppe are the pilots and crew wearing i wonder?
BerryChoice9042@reddit
It is from the LAR. Luxembourg Air Rescue... They made 2 Flights.
dj3rd@reddit
I think it is one of four Bombardier Learjet 45s operated by Luxembourg Air Rescue. They are involved in medical transports like this bringing back the passngers from the Hantavirus ship to Amsterdam. I presume it is Amsterdam due to the KLM long-haul aircraft in the hangar
nonreligious2@reddit (OP)
I think the nose and cockpit window are different from what I can tell: https://aircharterservice-globalcontent-live.cphostaccess.com/images/aircraft-guide-images/private/learjet2045_45xr20ex20pic_tcm36-3798.jpg
I believe it is in Amsterdam and I found this picture via an article on the hantavirus.
dj3rd@reddit
Interesting, i was going more from the colour scheme matching those LJ45s
Swimming_Way_7372@reddit
Lear jets don't have stairs.
nonreligious2@reddit (OP)
Actually, you might be right, based on a picture from the LAR site:

The window segmentation is the same, the nose (which we can't see properly in the picture I posted) might just be fore-shortened by the (presumably) high zoom from the photographer who wouldn't be allowed near the planes.
dj3rd@reddit
LX-RHC, which is a Bombardier Challenger 605 and in those colours, was in Amsterdam on 6 May arriving from Praia, where the ship had been. So I had the correct company, you had the correct type :) cant say definitely though but gotta be it.
traveling-cheff@reddit
Not a 45
1991atco@reddit
It's a Challenger 350 or 650.
Fatal_Explorer@reddit
Ding ding ding! I already wanted to post this. It's Luxembourg Air Ambulance, they run a fleet of modified challengers for Medivac.
Stoney3K@reddit
Are they also still running the Lear 45's or did they replace those with Challengers?
Specialist_Reality96@reddit
It's pretty close to the RFDS livery although the biggest thing they run is PC-24's.
nonreligious2@reddit (OP)
Ah, OK, that does match this plane from the LAR site:
https://cdn.prod.website-files.com/68c5364d4e1f9c94d6da2d84/68f2002071bf094bbb7117bf_acbd0340-2d68-11ef-8584-ff15bf2dbc8b-md.webp
dj3rd@reddit
Great work finding that out! Thats gotta be it as that exact plane was in Amsterdam on 6 May.
nonreligious2@reddit (OP)
I don't think this is the same plane (unless the surface here is very reflective and the red tail is only on one side), but it might be the same type: https://www.dutchnews.nl/wpcms/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Dutch-plane.jpg
B00gie005@reddit
With everything going on, this plane probably carried one or more passengers possibly contaminated with the hantavirus. The ambulance has markings of the Dutch health services and passengers have slowly been coming into the country on special flights over the last couple days
nonreligious2@reddit (OP)
Best guess would be some kind of Bombardier but I can't work out which one.
