The Thomas Crown Affair remake.
The Italian Job remake.
Ocean's 11 remake.
I'm sure the originals were good in their time, but the remakes were more relevant. Even then, the stories are dated. They were all pre smartphone. Just imagine how much the world has changed.
AdagioVast@reddit
Nothing will ever come close to the masterpiece that is Heat.
knowsnothing316@reddit
Think Ronin is still underrated. Car chase scene was up there with Bullit’s
FaluninumAlcon@reddit
Maybe not my fav, but I'm a sucker for a rwd converted subie -- baby driver.
gerardkimblefarthing@reddit
Ronin and Heat are my go-to selections.
mrvis@reddit
Ever see The Spanish Prisoner? Also Mamet like Ronin.
gerardkimblefarthing@reddit
One of Steve Martin's best!

Let's see, that's, uh, two part gin, two part brandy, one part Creme de Menthe...
gerardkimblefarthing@reddit
If I was management, I wouldn't have given you a cigarette.
maritimursus@reddit
Ronin having a 69% RT score is baffling to me
IHkumicho@reddit
Nice.....
MistaRekt@reddit
Sean Bean was excellent in 'Ronin', in my humble opinion.
SledgeH4mmer@reddit
He's excellent in a lot of movies. He crushed his role in Golden Eye, which I think is the most memorable Bond film from the 90's.
Slim_Margins1999@reddit
One of the best period, but def the best from the 90s. They got super corny by The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day was, pretty bad
46handwa@reddit
Same, felt I had to scroll too far for Ronin here. Immaculate film, just like Heat
amccune@reddit
Just absolute craziness in the chase scenes. So good.
SashimiRick@reddit
Didja get the caaaase??
Love Ronin.

Are you saying I violated section 34 double-D?
IHkumicho@reddit
Absolutely my favorite as well. As soon as you're done watching it the first time you want to go back and re-watch it almost immediately.
kremlingrasso@reddit
Absolutely the best one.
EuphoricCrashOut@reddit
This one is top.
drunkatdesk@reddit
Love how slippery christopher Plummer is in this movie. Denzel’s swagger. Jodie’s pout.

Also Chayya Chayya from the soundtrack is a massive banger

Den of Thieves was awesome. Closest film to Heat I’ve seen. The second one was okay, lot of plot holes. But the first one is legit
MistaRekt@reddit
Since the sequal dropped have been meaning to do a marathon. Barely remember the first one.
Cosmohumanist@reddit
Really? First one is awesome
MistaRekt@reddit
Well. To be fair I can only just stream both on my subscription services now. So there is that.
Elevenyearstoomany@reddit
I love the Ocean’s Eleven with George Clooney. Great cast, super fun movie.
Mrgrin79@reddit
The Town and Point Break.

God I loved Sneakers as a kid. Need to rewatch it.
Acceptingoptimist@reddit
So underrated. The cast is a fever dream.
icybowler3442@reddit
If it weren’t such a weird 90’s moment in most of their careers, you’d think it was a billion dollar movie. Come on, Robert Redford, Sidney Poitier, Dan Ackroyd, Ben Kingsley, James Earl Jones, River Phoenix? And the script is GOOD? Come on.
Acceptingoptimist@reddit
Don't forget David Strathairn, Mary McDonnell, Tim Busfield from Field of Dreams and it's even got Stephen Tobolowsky AKA Ned Ryerson from Groundhog day.
gerardkimblefarthing@reddit
Even Donal Logue of Blade and Grounded for Life fame!
gerardkimblefarthing@reddit
Almost forgot! Logue was also Jimmy the Cab Driver in the 90s MTV promos, where he poorly described music videos for people.
Chilipatily@reddit
NED?!

BING!

Tim Busfield will always be 'Poindexter' from 'Revenge of the Nerds' 😉

Danny from The West Wing. And most recently, from being charged with child sexual abuse.

Fuck. That's fucked.

I simultaneously love and hate this movie at the same time. Because it reminds me how great River Phoenix was and what kind of career he would’ve had if he hadn’t passed away.

This!
And How to steal a million dollars (the old one with Audrey Hepburn and Peter O'Toole).
And The Thomas Crown Affair
And... well, it'sa long list, now that I think of it...
Cooper_Sharpy@reddit
Everybody has mentioned most of the greats, but I haven’t seen anybody mention The Score with Robert De Niro, Ed Norton and the final appearance of Marlon Brando. Excellent film and the acting performances are stellar.
JusticeFrankMurphy@reddit
I was just gonna post this. Highly underrated movie that has flown under the radar for some reason.
Cooper_Sharpy@reddit
The way they use water to blow up the safe is one of my favorite mechanics in any heist movie because it’s actually realistic

Facts
zencatface@reddit
Heist with Gene Hackman from 2001 is THE most underrated movie in the genre. It's a David Mamet script also staring Sam Rockwell, Danny Devito and Delroy Lindo. Gorgeous film.
VoddieMC@reddit
Cracking dialogue. Twists and turns everywhere. One of my absolute faves.
prenderg@reddit
“ Everybody loves money. That’s why they call it money” - Danny Devito.
CubesFan@reddit
I missed this one. I'll have to check it out. Hackman is one of those actors where I don't actually think of the movies he's in as favorite movies, but whenever someone brings one up, I remember it being really good. It's like a band that I only listen to if someone else plays them around me, but I always start bopping to it.
xxMalVeauXxx@reddit
Snatch
slappy_mcslapenstein@reddit
Ocean's 11 was pretty much perfect, imo.
medyolang_@reddit
hard agree. and even if the other two weren’t as good, it was still fun to see what they were up to
AEternal@reddit
I don’t think I’ve laughed harder at a scene than the Julia Roberts scene in 12.
rohm418@reddit
Probably the best part of the entire film. 11>13>12>8
Logical-Cherry9395@reddit
IDK, Oceans 13 was pretty damn close to Oceans 11.
xAlice_Liddell@reddit
It’s such a vibe.
FrankiesKnuckles@reddit
That's a movie I'll watch anytime it's on
Cptcodfish@reddit
That is my “Stop doing whatever I was doing to finish this movie, regardless of where the movie is in its runtime at the moment” movie.

It’s a reverse heist, but it’s still a heist movie. And it’s easily in my top 20 movies of all time.
Logical-Cherry9395@reddit
I still love the first Now You See Me. One of the best parts of that is realizing a lot of the footage between Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg is ad lib and improvisation. The two have a genuine affection and chemistry and the director just started filming it. Elsa Fischer and Dave Franco chime in and participate, making it even more believable as part of the script, but it's the banter between Harrelson and Eisenberg that sells it.

The Sting
MistaRekt@reddit
OMFG, how is this not higher up?

Die Hard with a Vengeance. It’s my fav die hard. Corny, action packed, and Sam Jackson.

The Town is the perfect bank robbery movie IMHO. Has everything a movie needs.
Other good heist flicks: Point Break, Reservoir Dogs, Baby Driver, Inside Man, Swordfish (a bit cheesy but decent), Heat, Army of the Dead, and the list goes on…
A few that aren’t my cup of tea, but friends like include Den of Thieves, Stander, Ambulance, The Lookout, and The Order.
Arcane_Sirenn@reddit
inside man all the way dude
chrisdecaf@reddit
Why'd I have to scroll so far?
Lebowski304@reddit
Heat is probably at the top for a heist flick. The gunfight is s-tier 90’s action. The character development and story are also solid. Ocean’s 11 is up there. Great movies
Basic-Pair8908@reddit
Liars, guns and money trilogy in the farscape series.

Heat and Ronin
Withnail_I_am_I_am@reddit
The Thomas Crown Affair remake was fun and Rene Russo. For much the same reasons, Entrapment with Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Of course Mann's Thief and Heat, and quite a few Jean-Pierre Melville movies, are the standard.
maritimursus@reddit
I really like the Aldhani heist from Andor
