That line always kinda bothered me because wizards aren't even much of a thing on Xena. In fact, I can't think of any. There was a couple of them in a single Hercules episode.

I guess they had to assume a lot of the audience wouldn’t have watched Xena so they made the joke pretty generic. Simpsons had all star comedy writers so you’d think they would know the show they were riffing on well enough… must be a reason for it?

When this episode aired I had never seen Xena yet, this was my only point of reference to the show. Years later when I actually watched it I was disappointed at the lack of wizards.

Yeah wizards didn't do it the gods did but still like the homage to xena in their show
