Less trucks on the road?

So as of late ive been taking my 34s during the week and running thru the weekend. I've noticed that I can arrive at 6 or 7pm and I'd still find a lot of parking. Has it always been like this or are there actually less trucks due to the non domicile crackdowns?

Been noticing this too. Pulling in to park at 5 cutting my time a little short to make sure I get parking and the place is half empty sometimes lol.

Well it’s safety week next week and today for sure I can see a huge difference already. California roads were clear all the way from i15 to i40 and I’ve never seen it this clear before.

I've been getting that vibe too. I'll be rushing to park by 5-6 and then when I do my pre-sleep bathroom check at 10, there will still be a couple places left and I feel silly for stressing out.

There's a driver shortage again due to cdl cancelations. High fuel prices. Companies are short drivers. Products aren't moving as normal and you are seeing more efficient shipping. A lot of van shipments used to run on a schedule. Now it's less often and fuller (by volume) and heavier trailers.

Between the crackdowns and the fuel prices. A lot of companies have and will fold. Hell for a couple months there, it was a fresh florida carrier folding every week

Like the other guy said:: weekends are lighter pretty much everywhere (major cities excepted of course). I've also been getting lucky with good parking late a lot more recently though. I had ascribed it to my frequent and heartfelt supplications to St. Dave Dudley but there might be fewer trucks out here harshing my parking chi too. Whatever works. 🙂

Dot hit allot of non English speaking truck drivers and gas prices make moving things more strategic to make a profit. I’m noticing less freight but the local things are still moving.

Yeah we are almost there on gas prices. Maybe another 2 bucks a gallons will clear the roads. 😁

Still too many trucks and 4 wheelers. The price of gas needs to go up maybe just a couple more dollars.

That’s really always been that way. Even 20 years ago when I was still on the road, driving on the weekends meant less truck, traffic and more opportunities for parking.

Less trucks due to recession and soon will be depression due to dollar collapse as countries are now trading in Yuan.

I've noticed there's been plenty of open spots at the Pilot in Benton Harbor, MI the last few times I've stopped in there. Same for the rest areas around me.

It's definitely gotten better everywhere. The south used to be torture for me but now it's doable. Out west was always pretty easy for me but now I'm getting parking at 10 at night in places that I've never seen parking before so late(not just one spot no I'll pull in and see 5-10 spots )

weekends are definitely better but i think you're right about less trucks overall. my buddy who does logistics says lot of smaller companies been struggling with the regulations and some drivers just said screw it and went back to warehouse work or whatever. plus fuel costs been crazy this year so maybe some owner ops taking break until things settle down. i noticed same thing at truck stops i usually hit - way more empty spots than like 6 months ago even during weekdays

What part of the country are you taking these brakes? Here in the SE it seems parking has not changed. Full around the population centers come evening.

Same in eastern ontario at the 401 Onroutes. During the week they are full by 9pm. On the weekends, maybe 10 trucks. I run linehauls at night at don't even plan at stopping at them because I know there will not be room.
