Almost like we vote for council seats and not one big pool of votes for a party.
shinniesta1@reddit
So? Plenty of places have more proportional systems to elect councillors. This is just undemocratic
HarryTurney@reddit
I agree we need to ditch FPTP because it's shit but it still wouldn't be if you get 22% of the votes you get 22% of the seats. It would be a lot closer and more fair that but not equal.
shinniesta1@reddit
Sure, but with local elections it absolutely makes no sense to have FPTP where the vote can be incredibly personally and locally specific. STV makes far more sense, and then even if your no.1 choice doesn't win your vote still counts.

Reform get votes from all the racists/gammon/people falling for their bullshit, and the sensible people just tactically vote to stop them winning as best as possible. It was the same in the general election and will likely happen again next time. Most non right wing people don't really care if they're voting Labour/Green/Lib Dem if it keeps the fascists out of power
HarryTurney@reddit
And if green voters actually knew how to tactically vote reform would have even less.

Our right to vote was earned with blood. Giving some random neoliberals who run these 'tactical voting' sites our votes to put wherever they want is dumb.
We need to stop voting against who we don't want, instead vote for what we do want. Until then we will continue to see no change and the move to the right continue and it'll get worse.
Libdems, Labour, Tory and Reform are all the same so tactically voting for the same people under different banners is useless.
HarryTurney@reddit
Cool you voted for Reform them. Enjoy getting Reform.

Dont be blaming this shit on 3rd parties, it isnt productive and breeds meaningless toxicity. If anything its a symptom of the FPTV system being broken. Some areas had a libdem majority, some had conservstive majority, even greens keeping all the votes to labour it would have been a toss up in some areas. Theres also the fact that voter turnout is always quite ass due to apathy, how about we criticise that instead of tearing eachother a new anus over who and who didnt tactically vote when labour themselves have been so divisive, despite this not influencing the council level as much it still contributes as people vote based on feeling rather than fact.
If everyone was as logical as you wish then reform wouldnt be getting nearly as many voters as they have in the first place considering their candidates.
HarryTurney@reddit
I agree FPTP is dogshit and I want it gone but while it is here I'll tactical vote.
