It's not so much the roundabout, more people's complete inability to navigate it. Its not hard the lanes are marked
Leather_Creme_6957@reddit
Which roundabout is that?
txdas12@reddit
The one between Kingston magna park.
Leather_Creme_6957@reddit
Oh, right. Yeah, it’s trying to make sure you’re in the right lane, and my mantra is indicate, indicate. It’s easy to find yourself in the wrong lane. There is one roundabout, can’t remember which one, which the lanes do not make sense.
Ye_olde_oak_store@reddit
Redmoor's lanes are confusing.
Leather_Creme_6957@reddit
Remembered now. A5 junction at Stacy Bushes. Coming off the H3 to go A5 North. The lane says A5, then suddenly same lane says Mk and goes past A5 turn off. I do keep forgetting to not bother with right A5 lane because that’s what happens.
Boring_Foundation459@reddit
No it doesn't! On the bridge over the A5 the lanes are (left to right) MK(W) and A5
After the V5 exit it's MK(W), A5N+MK(E), MK(E) as the right land lane has split into 2, you should be in lane 2 at that point of course
After H3 west leaves with lane 1 the lanes are A5N and then two for MK(E) as the right hand lane has split again...
So it's a normal spiral. It did used to be as you say and very annoying, I hassled the council to fix it after post-roadworks repainting screwed it up 🙂
Leather_Creme_6957@reddit
So it’s been fixed?
Boring_Foundation459@reddit
Yes, a few years ago now
EyeAware3519@reddit
They are not marked well though. How are you supposed to see the markings on the road when cars are covering them and the roads aren't maintained properly? Why is there not any universal rules for MK roundabouts? Why have some got lights that just make them less effective?
Vast_Television_337@reddit
There's being in slightly the wrong lane and then there's being in the complete inside lane trying to take an exit.
At that point it's not lane confusion it's complete ineptitude.
andrewjb301288@reddit
Its common sense that you aint taking the 2nd exit from the right lane when the roundabout has 4 or 5 exits. There is also a MASSIVE sign with the lane layout well before the roundabout and then the lanes are marked several times on the floor before the roundabout. If you have missed all of that. Time to hand your licence in.
one_pint@reddit
You probably shouldn't be driving if you think they're not marked well enough.
There mostly are universal rules, barring a couple of exceptions.
Lights are put in place to ease congestion and improve safety at peak times.
EyeAware3519@reddit
You're just talking bollocks aren't you?
one_pint@reddit
Not compared to your comment pal.
hamsterbasher@reddit
Some people are just idiots.
Planning to take the second exit from the right lane was always pretty bold idea
CarsCarpal@reddit
Or you know, realise that it they are round and that if they've missed their exit - they can just catch it after doing a lap!!
Instead, they always seem to insist on heroic lunges across traffic. Given how many roundabouts MK has, you'd think people would be better at them.
Fair_Future7245@reddit
YES! Dread it every time.
Adrinn89@reddit
Why I like roundabouts? If I miss the exit, No problem, I can go 1 more round. Thats it
direct-evil@reddit
I wouldn't have let them get over
Delicious-Pitch5956@reddit
Ffs just go around instead of trying to cause accident
Consider-Everything@reddit
I agree with so many other comments. It’s not the roundabout it’s the "drivers" whom seemingly can’t drive!
UsefulAd8513@reddit
Taking the H9 off Kingston roundabout you're pretty much guaranteed that someone in the second lane will try and dive in ahead of you.
RadicalDog@reddit
Yes, I accept going 30mph and over speedbumps to take the road to the north of it instead. I'll pay 30 seconds a day if it means avoiding an accident if I commuted via that roundabout.
bearcorps303@reddit
It's a gyratory not a roundabout. Filter. Easy
BananaHomunculus@reddit
The only one I hate is the one in bletchley that leads on to Tesco etc.
That shit sucks.
It's like someone decided on a layout, fucked it up, began production and had to interject quick fixes to bypass the nuisance.
Comprehensive-Job-77@reddit
i’m so glad they installed traffic lights because i had a growing supply of footage of idiots who think give way to the right doesn’t apply to them
Substantial_Air_1473@reddit
Why couldn’t they have gone round the roundabout again rather than potentially cause an accident? People’s critical thinking is nonexistent
LiE85@reddit
Haven’t found one worse than Kelly’s Kitchen roundabout yet.
Switchermaroo@reddit
Have these people driven a car before
Jills89@reddit
It’s an awful roundabout, but it doesn’t help when muppets like that clearly can’t drive properly.
EmptyRestaurant2410@reddit
🙋♀️ I take the 4th exit from there. Forever alert that a car will inevitably not follow the lane markings and swerve across into my lane. Or when I'm taking the H9 they'll be in the middle lane trying to cut across. But I've never anticipated someone might do what this person has done!
Logical-Grass-8305@reddit
I can see this exact roundabout exit from my house window and it provides excellent entertainment 24/7. Usually it’s people pushing in from lane 2 - from lane 3 is a new one even for me!
DamianD8@reddit
There is a website called https://www.window-swap.com/ setup a webcam and provide the entertainment 😊
Longjumping_Let8597@reddit
You should hook a camera up and start making content of it. Seriously, you'd probably get £££ in no time.
Brutos08@reddit
That’s not a roundabout problem that’s a “driver” problem!!
Spud_1997@reddit
Lol always the manufacturers you expect.
But yeah that roundabout is ass, I don't get people like this it's Milton Keynes for fucks sake, commit to your lane and just take a left at the next roundabout.
Leather_Creme_6957@reddit
That’s the advantage of our road system. A couple of times I’ve found myself in the right hand lane when I wanted to turn left. Just indicated right and went all the way round the roundabout and took the turn I originally wanted. Not difficult and takes no time at all
split-tennisball@reddit
"A bad driver never misses their exit"
Revolutionary_Deer33@reddit
They are normal arrows on the roads not arcane hieroglyphics 🤣
denselime2@reddit
How tf u in the right lane going left 🤡🤡🤡🤡
mister_stoosh@reddit
Seriously don't people know the highway code? They can't drive to save their lives...
2JagsPrescott@reddit
If you've ever been to Paris and climbed to the top of the Arc de Triomphe, the intersection/roundabout that surrounds it is possibly the most chaotic I've ever witnessed. Wherever you look, an accident is almost happening - yet somehow never quite does.
It makes MK somewhat tame by comparison, but undoubtedly there are people driving around who seemingly haven't heard of the highway code let alone read it.
itsibitci@reddit
I challenge you almost any large intersection in Hanoi. Pure chaos, but it's not just cars, it's also hundreds of bikes, minibuses and tuk tuks going and coming in any direction. Similarly, people don't crash and somehow navigate it well.
Acidbluesboyyy@reddit
People don’t seem to understand that the first lane is the one to take the first exit and they get angry at you when they’re cutting through to get out using the wrong lane.
pronoobmage@reddit
So wrong to do things like that, just go around and pick the proper lanes for exit.
He/she stopped 3 lanes with his/her stupidity...
