What’s your bedtime these days?

My 20 something coworkers were talking about going out tonight and meeting up at 10:30. Usually I’m in pajamas and winding down by 9:30.
tickled_your_pickle@reddit
43 - 10:30ish but I should go a bit earlier. I just rarely get any quiet alone time...
A married couple I know retires at 8 to their separate rooms and are asleep by 8:30, which is insane to me lol
IndicationNo7551@reddit
Usually out cold by ~10:30. Wake up at 5:30.
New Year’s Eve was a struggle this past year lol
Apprehensive-Dog6997@reddit
In bed around 915, asleep around 1030
Cloud_Fortress@reddit
3am normally.
twinkiesandcake@reddit
46 years old. 8pm. I wake up at 4am for a 4:55am workout and then take care of the kids.
Ltimbo@reddit
About 12:30. I’ve always been a night owl and while it’s harder to do than it was 10 years ago, I still can’t make myself go to bed before midnight.
janellthegreat@reddit
10:30 is my ideal time to be asleep or at least just quietly reading a book. One of my children is an early bird and I prefer not to be cranky because I didn't get enough sleep.
WheelLeast1873@reddit
Usually like 1-2 which is terrible I know but late at night is my only chance for time to myself.
Forsaken-Onion7411@reddit
10-11:30, I wake up at 6 for work, but am a natural night owl, so I fight my schedule hard. I am always exhausted.
rosephoenix19@reddit
On the weekdays when I work, I'm in bed by 8:00. On the weekends, when I can relax and enjoy myself..... I'm still in bed by 8:00.
VeniVidiVici_19@reddit
I feel so seen. Even on vacation last week we were mostly in bed by 8:00…lol
rosephoenix19@reddit
So vacation, when I'm out with friends, that's the caveat. I do stay up a little bit later but honestly, I hang out with people my age so we're still all in bed by 10ish LOL. "It's out at 1:00 am?!? No thank you!"
TimelyPut5768@reddit
I'm the same normally in bed by 8-830 and then up between 3 and 4 to run before the kids wake up.
ceesa@reddit
Me too, but not because I want to. I'm a night owl, but the only time I have to get work done at home is when the kids are asleep, so I wake up at 3 am to start my day every day.
Awkwardpanda75@reddit
My kids are grown, only one left and he’s 18; he sleeps til noon on the weekend and I STILL love getting up at 3 to clean and do laundry.
dwimhi@reddit
I thought I was alone! I am a 9-3 sleeper. 3-7a is my favorite time of the day!
Second_City_Saint@reddit
Same. Love the darkness in to sunrise. I only shake my head now at the birds I once wanted to murder for chirping at 4am.
Any-Baseball-6766@reddit
Sometimes on the weekends I may stay up to 9 or 9:30. I’d rather be up early than up late
Second_City_Saint@reddit
During the week I'm in bed at 9 almost every night. Sometimes I stay up till 9:15-30, and it's usually against my will. My son is in 3rd grade. His bed time is 9 & I normally I go to bed at the same time. Once a week or so, he'll grab the remote at 9 & start to turn off the TV assuming I'm going to bed too. Every single time I stop him and say no, I'm not going to bed yet. I think I did it half offended the first time, and it's just kind of a tradition at this point.
choochoopants@reddit
There are many days where I’m working out well past your bedtime
Major_Scale@reddit
I go to bed around 2-3 am, then nap in the after noon.
pregnantandsober@reddit
Usually not later than 11pm. I get up by 7:00 on weekdays.
__Geg__@reddit
I struggle to fall asleep before midnight, and the alarm goes off every weekday morning at 6:30.
Eventually the exhaustion catches up to me, and I can fall asleep at 9 or so.
habitualtroller@reddit
I try to get to bed by 830 or 9, depending on how much the kids fight going to bed.
FethB@reddit
I’m in bed usually between 12 and 1 am, give or take a little. I might fall asleep anytime between 12:30 and 2. I’m a SAHM to a toddler who is also a night owl. I would like to have more morning hours for productivity but I’ve had to fight my natural schedule for decades, so it’s not crucial to change it.
Traditional_Entry183@reddit
Around 11pm. I get up at 6am most days.
My wife goes to bed at 830 or 9 most days and gets up at 5am.
RevolutionaryEgg1312@reddit
Honestly, it depends. Perimenopause symptoms are absolutely kicking my ass rn so sometimes it's 10pm and awake every 2 hours to change sweaty bedsheets or I can't sleep at all til 3am then sleep so deeply my alarm goes off and I've forgotten where and who I am.
I keep a sleep diary but haven't taken the plunge into a wearable tracker as I'm scared to know what it will say about my sleep quality.
I used to be able to crash out anywhere, any time. I miss that!
ball_bustin_betty@reddit
Around 3a.m. I'm a second shift worker, so I don't need to be up before noon.
lordravenxx@reddit
8am.
ineffable_my_dear@reddit
It shifts every day because I have a super fun (/s) sleep disorder. I woke up around 10:30 last night. Who knows what today will bring.
I’m 49 and have always delayed sleep so my mind is boggled that people go to bed at like 9 but I also envy it in a way!
Bigcurt43@reddit
Work overnight, so I’man outlier but normally 7:30-8:30. Days off earlier.
csonnich@reddit
I wish I could go to bed at 9, because I get up about 5:30, but my body would love to stay up til 2.
Usually I manage about 11.
GeeAyeAreElle@reddit
Literally anywhere between 8pm and 2am depending how many 2am nights ive had ill do a "crash" night and sleep 12 hours about once a week or 2.
BlueScoob@reddit
Somewhere between 10pm and 2am,
Miz_momo82@reddit
9:30-11:30pm depending on what time I need to be at work
taita2004@reddit
In bed by 8pm...but I have to be up for work at 2:30am
wrenb77@reddit
I try to be in bed by 10 because the alarm goes off at 6:30. On weekends it’s more like 11 pm, but I really do turn into a pumpkin after that.
Dry-Astronaut-8640@reddit
Most evening, by about 10:00.
Even without setting an alarm, il usually up by about 6:00 most mornings.
I’ve always been a nerd and an early morning person.
Ok_Chicken_325@reddit
Former night owl turned morning person. I don't like it, and still find it weird after a few years of this. In bed anywhere from 8 at the earliest to 9:30 at the latest. Wake up is usually around 7 ish. Any former night owls like me who changed?
metalheadswiftie13@reddit
Elenakalis@reddit
I work 9-5 too and I rarely go to sleep before 1:30-2am. Peri has me up at 4am some mornings, though.
bashturd@reddit
Do you work second shift?
metalheadswiftie13@reddit
Nope. 9-5. Trying to get to my start time changed to 10 though. I’m a night owl.
-Julya-@reddit
Same and same.
dumbass_sempervirens@reddit
About 9 pm. Gotta get up by 5 to go to work.
Hell, it's Saturday morning. It's 5:11 and I'm up.
genesimmonstongue415@reddit
This. I fall asleep between 8:30 - 9:30 pm.
EmbarrassedFlower922@reddit
I usually fall asleep on the couch at 8pm then go to bed around 2am
singleguy79@reddit
In bed by at least 9:30, asleep by 10:30.
rhconway@reddit
I’m 42, and my wife (39) and I are usually in bed by 7:30-8. Usually asleep by 8:30. She usually stays up a bit later than I do reading. I wake up at 4 to go the gym. I’m off to work by 5:40.
Brave-Ladder8935@reddit
8pm. Work at 5am
SpinachnPotatoes@reddit
Hubby and I both turned 45, our bedtime has moved from 10 to 9/9:30. But frankly by 8 Im cold and cuddling into bed for a bit of a read.
Patient_Character730@reddit
In bed and usually asleep by 10pm, weekday or weekend. If I'm really tired I'll go to bed around 8:30pm.
Spiritual-Style@reddit
9pm because I leave for work at 6am.
SoAliciaSays@reddit
Moved from Florida to Denver and it’s like my body can’t stay up anymore. Basically just refused the time zone change and now I am in bed by 9pm and up at 6am every damn day.
1982 / 44 years old and I guess I’m “early to bed early to rise” years old now.
optimaloutcome@reddit
Between 9 and 10, but as close to 9 as possible. I get up at 5 every day.
thecicilala@reddit
The whole house winds down at 8 and we’re all in bed by 9. My kids can stay up a little later- but quietly in their rooms. My husband and I get up at 5 on the weekdays.
PatchworkGirl82@reddit
It's in the 9-11 pm area, but I was never a night owl, even in my younger days.
CokBlockinWinger@reddit
Around Midnight. As early as 11, as late as 1, but usually midnight.
Striking-Access-236@reddit
Around midnight and the alarm goes off at 06:30...(might be useful to also include the time of getting up in the morning)
bashturd@reddit
I walk my kid to the bus stop at 6:30 am, so I try to get to bed around 10-10:30.
Dickrubin14094@reddit
I’m logging in bed watching TV by 8 pm, probably fast asleep by 9:30…unless I’m watching sports, then I’m staying up to watch the game. In my bed, but I’m still staying up.
Awkwardpanda75@reddit
I recently traveled for a work event for a few days. The entire company was there. I was in the hotel, showered and in my matching pjs by 8; a large group were out until 2am and fresh as daisies at 8 am.
I remember those days fondly but I much prefer my bougie bed with fluffy mattress topper and bamboo sheets.
mac1diot@reddit
By 9PM I’m ready

Should probably post this at noon to get the least skewed responses 😆
mikeyd1276@reddit
Yep. Just woke up. Go to bed between 10 and 11:30 depending on if there’s a game on.
butterednoodlelovers@reddit
It's pre evening here in Australia. But give it a few hours and I'll be asleep
lawyers_guns_nomoney@reddit
Im enjoying the night owls owning the thread.
-Julya-@reddit
Nah, I'm a night owl forced by my career to conform to "business hours" that also suffers from periodic insomnia... I'm lucky if I'm in bed by 12:30am on a weekday and 2am on the weekends. Better than 4am bedtime like I had in my teens and early 20s, I guess? I dunno, I'm tired, boss.
FraggleGoddess@reddit
Same. When I'm off for 2 weeks, like at Xmas, my natural sleep pattern is about 1pm to 10am. But I survive on about 5 hours sleep during the work week. Perimenopause isn't helping as I wake up in the night more often.
I've always struggled to find the off switch in my brain so insomnia has plagued me too.
-Julya-@reddit
Eff perimenopause, the struggle is real. Also, I absolutely love your username.
blood_bones_hearts@reddit
That's the worst. I get to do about half of my shifts as evenings and I love it. Doing the early shifts kill me a bit. I find myself saying "it's okay I'll sleep in a few days.... It's not very sustainable.
-Julya-@reddit
Yeah, whenever I think about my "dream job" it's really just one I could do on my own schedule and still pay all my bills with a bit of fun money leftover.
Purplecat1982@reddit
Around 9 during the week. Mostly so I can go to the gym and do my chicken chores before work and on the weekend I also go to bed at 9 because I’m sleepy lol
UndoxxableOhioan@reddit
I usually fall asleep on the couch around 8p. Wake up and head to bed 9:30-10:00p. Wake up around 5a.
neuro_space_explorer@reddit
I still bartend, so most nights 3am-4am
bullseye11b@reddit
8-9pm. Go to bed when the kids do.
WintryLadyBits@reddit
Same here. I put them to bed and I’m absolutely exhausted. So I get in pjs right away. I might watch something, read something or do some last minute thing I need for the next day. Unless is date night with my husband, I’m filled with dread when anyone invites me to do anything after my kids bedtime. I’m like how very dare you?!?
PolarsteeleMGB@reddit
Same same, except I get in my pjs and robe like the minute I get home from work
DoodleDoo1989@reddit
Same!
morbidemadame@reddit
Between 6:30 and 8pm to read for HOURS!!!!
Local-Painter-1237@reddit
I’m a night owl, so usually between 11:30-2am. This unfortunately became my habit when I became a stay at home mom, it used to be about 10:30-11 when I worked full-time. And now I’ve realized I can’t miss too much sleep so if I go days on end with less than 7 hours I can’t function. In the past year I’ve even taken naps, which I never did before. It’s really a terrible habit and I need to force myself to go to bed earlier- I truly fight it. Although, I do think I’ve struggled with depression/anxiety as contributing factors. I’m also a person who needs time to myself each night and now that my kids are getting older they’re staying up a little later. I’m trying to re-focus on my health more and I know how important sleep is. It’s something I’m working on.
ravingwanderer@reddit
School nights I’m in bed by 9 and out by 10. Weekend in bed by 10 and out by 11. I can’t afford to through my week day rhythm out .
Kitten_K_@reddit
This week before 9pm! Winter weather has hit Melbourne and I just want warm bed and my book!
caramelcoldbrew@reddit
1:30. And woken at 3-4am for my nightly perimenopause torture. Up at 6ish.
sorrymizzjackson@reddit
Oh hai, lol.
nuskit@reddit
Girl...HRT. I still get the night sweats but it's soooo much less horrific than unmedicated. Fewer hot flashes, too. That stuff they used to say about increased cancer risk has been found to be incorrect.
Now if someone could just turn off the waterworks. Man, I get why my mom cried during Folgers commercials. I can start crying and don't even know why.
caramelcoldbrew@reddit
I’m on it! Just PMSing and things go awry around this time. I feel tons better on HRT but I still get occasional MOTN wakeups.

I'm pretty much on your schedule. Even though I've a tendency towards night owl hours when I don't have to get up for work. But on the other hand I do enjoy waking up early.

2-3 am, sometimes a bit earlier or later. I've been a night owl since my late teens and being in my 40s hasn't changed that. A lot of my family are also night owls including my mom in her 70s so I'm pretty sure this will be sticking with me.
lawyers_guns_nomoney@reddit
Both heartened and freaked out to see so many night owls here. I wish I could go to bed at 9 or 10 and be up early but that’s just not how I work.

midnight on the button during weekdays. I get every minute of the day I can...working. I work until 11pm then wind down here, then shower, then bed.

Friday nights like tonight are my favorite nights. The work for the week is done, everyone is asleep, and I can just relax with a drink, a joint and a video game, reddit or something on the tv.
lumiranswife@reddit
Out is probably 7pm, we just had my daughter's banquet and 9pm getting home felt like a stretch. At home in the evening, wind down begins after dinner, done by 7, in bed by 8, but I can catch myself scrolling, laughing at reels, or answering friend or family messages back and taking check in chats into 10-11.
