There are so many good suggestions here that I’m getting analysis paralysis. I actually built an app called Fork It specifically for this—it just rolls the dice on highly-rated spots nearby so you don’t have to pick between five different burgers.

Spirit Grille in Irving

Oh gosh! So many. Just in city limits:
Cosmo's - a Vietnamese restaurant owner told me they don't serve pho because they can't do it better than Cosmo's
Saint Valentine - Misti Norris' Rainbowcat menu has insane bar food after 7pm, get the pastrami musubi with hot mustard
Armoury DE - Hungarian food and the Damn Burger
Las Almas Rotas - the elotes are still undefeated, actual char on the corn + crushed Takis
Ayahuasca Cantina - serious agave cocktails + serious Mexican cooking hidden behind a cafe
The Old Monk - much to my surprise, when I tried a dozen veggie burgers last summer this came out #1
Rodeo Bar - one of downtown's best burgers
Easy Slider East Side Ave. - I got the new fullsized burger for my birthday last year, it rocks
Vector Brewing - pretty solid pizzas
Celestial Beerworks - pretty solid quesadillas and tortas
Korean bars! DanSungSa on Royal Lane (not Carrollton, different ownership) for fried chicken
Peak in Irving is a Nepalese sports bar with curry and mango lassi vodka shots
I shamefully have yet to try the Bowen House burger but everyone raves about it. Also hearing good things about the new food menu at Ladylove...if it's ever calm enough to get in and sit down.
Substantial_Maximum@reddit
I’ve been in Dallas a long time and haven’t visited most of these bars, seriously thanks for the recommendations
Bets4Real@reddit
Vector only if you don’t mind dodging unruly children while you drink your beer
smokybbq90@reddit
8pm kid curfew, but ya as someone with smaller kids we avoid it Friday evenings and after 11am on weekends. Once the 8+ year old boys takeover the kids area it's done.
They have a Wednesday night burger right now that is great, and usually no kids around.
vectorbrewing@reddit
We love our burger, too. And 8pm!
liberal_texan@reddit
Your first 5 are fire.
From what I hear, Cosmo's and Armoury have a similar story, where someone's grandmother was brought in to teach the kitchen how to cook. Cosmo's pho is shockingly good, but not as shocking as sitting down at Armoury for the first time and having legitimately good Hungarian food.
I'd add Nova as #6.
dfwfoodcritic@reddit
My go to at Nova is the smoked salmon salad. Big and bountiful.
liberal_texan@reddit
A good choice. All their food is delicious but my wife and I really go there for the frog legs. We finally just started getting two orders so we didn’t have to share.

+1 for Easy Slider
hoopygoddess23@reddit
I love DanSungSa!!!!
Mwootto@reddit
The food at Ladylove is legit. I had the benefit of going with a roommate of one of the bartenders so that certainly helped to your point about calm enough to get in and sit down, but it really was fantastic.
FtWorthHorn@reddit
It should be, Jimmy owns Tacos y Vino.
this_aint_no_hobby@reddit
Met my wife at Amoury. 10/10 would recommend
Level-Ad-322@reddit
Nate’s Seafood. Food is fantastic. Great band on Sunday evenings.
Patrick42985@reddit
It’s a brewery. But Pacheco burger and taco inside of 4 corners brewery makes a damn good burger. Their tacos and all their other stuff are pretty good too. The brewery is a pretty chill place to drink as well.

yolatrendoid@reddit
Have you been there lately? The food's proven disappointing on my two most recent visits.
Roscius8@reddit
At one point their Steqk Frites was the absolute best I had in Dallas, even on repeat tries. It’s been not as great recently though.
But I had their burger and rings for the first time recently and it was goooood
Roscius8@reddit
Big fan of Lee Harveys
At one point their Steak Frites was the absolute best I had at a $28 price point. Sadly they no longer serve it with the excellent little side salad.
dimsumdingbat@reddit
End of the Trail in Victory Park has good food and drink prices.

Old Monk is quintessential bar food. Really good.
The-TruestRepairman@reddit
It really has no business being as good as it is.
The-TruestRepairman@reddit
It’s The Old Monk by a wide margine. It has no business being as good as it is.

quantumthrashley@reddit
A lot of good mentions already, I’d like to put out Whistling Pig. Not as great as Cosmos or Lounge Here but for a small neighborhood pub it has really great food. The French onion soup is fantastic and I’ve enjoyed every meal I’ve ever ordered.Â

The Peak Inn has one of the best burgers in Dallas
monolith_blue@reddit
Can't deal with the smoking in Garland.
fruityrootytooty@reddit
I stopped going after the owners got busted for an illegal tip sharing pool. But I do miss the burger.
MeowcellusWalluce@reddit
Every bar that everyone listed probably has great food. But there was a time when most ever bar had at least one great item on their menu. Now it seems like everyone serves the most basic Sysco products
SugoiHubs@reddit
Ayahuasca. Such a great food and drink menu with an amazing vibe. You could easily post up there all night running down the menu chatting with the bartenders.
