Between Copenhagen and Stockholm, where would you spend an extra day?

I am going to the Scandinavians in August for 11 days. I am starting from Copenhagen and finishing at Stockholm. I will be spending 6 days in Norway, a bit confused whether I should 3 days in Copenhagen or in Stockholm. Given both are cities, the vibe would probably be similar. What's your advice?
ColoursOfSeptember@reddit
I'd say Stockholm is more worth it in terms of what you can see or do. The Skansen und Vasa Museum should definetely be on your list!

great, thanks. I will definitely check them out.

I went to both just last week. For me - Copenhagen.
I found it more charming, more areas with older buildings, really quite ones, too (like Nyboder), not just the tourist hot spots. So many bicycles everywhere. Christiania is cool and parts of it fell like a village inside a city.
Stockholm was very interesting too, so modern, but in my opinion more of a standard European city. The canals are beautiful.

Nyboder, what’s that? Never came up during my research

Vibe is very different and for me, Copenhagen is more interesting and gritty. Stockholm is wonderful though.

From my initial research, I kinda feel 2 days are enough for Copenhagen. There might be more stuffs outside if the city area, but I am not counting in them since I will not be driving.

With two days in CPH I would visit Tivoli or the National museum, walk the main pedestrian throroughfare / high street. Take a water taxi from that area across to Reffen for the food scene. Maybe try to go to one local play or music thing. Last time I was there we were to a big free concert in Tivoli (free w/ admission) and it was super fun, very local. With more time I'd take the train to roskilde for a day to see the viking ship museum and the roskilde museum.
Sea_Interaction_6722@reddit (OP)
isn't the viking ship museum closed for renovation? by water taxi do you mean the small boats which pass through canals, I will do that. Tivoli is definitely on my list.
radlanrex@reddit
Yes the viking museum may be closed, sorry! I heard that was happening. And there are public taxi boats that go between specific stops. They are small. But not like the round trip tour boats they resemble,

Aarhus in Denmark is my favourite city in Denmark.

Will checkout if I can go there and come back to Copenhagen in one day.

2 hour train ride.

I liked Copenhagen more than Stockholm but there’s more to do in Stockholm.
Sea_Interaction_6722@reddit (OP)
also any recommendations what area in Stockholm I should target to book accomodation?
Lower_Egg7088@reddit
You could just Google to answer these questions, but I enjoyed the Vasa Museum and Skansen open-air museum in Stockholm.
In Copenhagen, I enjoyed one of the many harbour boat trips and there’s plenty to see just walking around the main tourist areas. The city has a nice feel to it.
Sweden as a whole I thought was a bit boring but I did enjoy Stockholm.
Sea_Interaction_6722@reddit (OP)
when you say lot more to do, is it more sightseeing or some activities or anything different?
ifcoffeewereblue@reddit
Both are beautiful and can easily fill 3 days. Stockholm has better public transit to visit more than just tourist things though, so I'd pick Stockholm. Even the ferry to some really cute islands is part of the public transit network
Sea_Interaction_6722@reddit (OP)
Would you suggest any island that I should check out?
ifcoffeewereblue@reddit
Vaxholm is probably the easiest. It's pretty, takes about an hour by public transit ferry, and the main town is small so you can pretty much explore the whole thing in a day (even a half day if you don't care to sit and look out at the sea with an ice cream or a beer lol). It is definitely one of the more touristy ones though just because it is close and easy. I'd still recommend it. There are some further out ones if you want to escape the crowd, but on a 3 day trip you'd really be pushing your luck on also exploring stockholm itself.
Sea_Interaction_6722@reddit (OP)
Makes sense. I will check Vaxholm. Thanks for the suggestion.
BreadfruitRegular631@reddit
Depends. Generally speaking I liked Copenhagen more in an "I could live here" sort of way but Stockholm in a "so much for me to do and see as a tourist' sort of way.
Sea_Interaction_6722@reddit (OP)
For a tourist POV, Stockholm it is then.
AnyTry5525@reddit
Copenhagen, both are great but I LOVEEEEED Copenhagen
Sea_Interaction_6722@reddit (OP)
Anything specific in general you would recommend in Copenhagen?
ChrisNordic@reddit
There are more to do in Copenhagen than Stockholm for 3 days. Look at r/Copenhagen for great suggestions on what to see, where to eat and how to spend time in Copenhagen on a budget :-)
Sea_Interaction_6722@reddit (OP)
I exactly did that, but the mods removed my post. 😅
ChrisNordic@reddit
It was probably removed for not making an effort to use the search function before posting (one of the rules on the sub as there are plenty of new post daily with already answered questions) 😊 Have you tried the search function on the sub?
Sea_Interaction_6722@reddit (OP)
Yeah, I added the post with my initial itinerary and was seeking advice related to my itinerary and suggestions for accommodations. I did search the sub and found some helpful info as well.
Zatishere@reddit
Spend it in stockholm if you like museums and big scenic views.
ConsumptionofClocks@reddit
I haven't been to Copenhagen but I really enjoyed Stockholm
Sea_Interaction_6722@reddit (OP)
ANything specific you enjoyed which might be overlooked by tourists?
kadaeux@reddit
Stockholm, there's a lot more to do.
Sea_Interaction_6722@reddit (OP)
yeah from my initial research I kinda figured 2days are enough for Copenhagen, just wanted to verify if I am missing anything.
