Canvas Outage Locks Out Collin County Students as Finals Approach

Students across Collin County—including Allen, Frisco, and McKinney—were unable to access Canvas Thursday after a cybersecurity incident affecting the platform. Canvas is used for everything from assignments to grades to communication, so when it goes down, students are basically stuck—especially this close to finals. Allen ISD confirmed the issue. Other districts rely on the same system but haven’t said much publicly yet. This raises a bigger question about how dependent schools are on a single platform.
