Who taught you how to drive

Coach Almond taught me driving and his wife Mrs. Almond taught me typing. Drivers Ed was at high school, but was a class you paid for that was after school. As I remember the classroom session was 2-3 weeks long. There were simulators in a container on campus, but the screen wasn’t a video, more like a film strip. The (baseball) coach in the back could see your inputs into the simulator. I really struggled because I was too short to reach the pedals and see the screen at the same time. The seat either didn’t adjust, or didn’t adjust far enough for my 4’ 10” self. So I’d have to scoot way down for my feet to reach, but then I couldn’t see the screen. And for some reason I was assigned the simulator way in the back row. Damn…the 90s was not friendly for accommodations. After the classroom, we had 5 days of behind the wheel training. Coach kept yelling at me because I didn’t break smoothly. I started off smooth, but For some reason I had it in my head that the pedal had to go all the way to the floor for the car to stop all the way. So I’d be smooth smooth smooth, but at the last minute as I was about to come to an actual full stop at the stop sign, I’d push it all the rest of the way in because I didn’t realize the car would actually stop. It was only during day 5 when he began cursing at me did he actually tell me it doesn’t have to go all the way down. I don’t remember how much my parents paid for the lessons. Maybe about $150.
