Back pocket, mostly. My wife bought me a pair of Vivienne Westwood wallets for Christmas. One full-sized billfold which I use for going away or when I might need more space, usually kept in my jacket or gilet pocket; and a smaller one with 6 card slots and a central pocket for a few banknotes for when I'm out on my motorbike (doesn't bulge through leathers).

I saw my stepdad suffer mightily from sciatica brought on from the wallet in the back pocket. I started carrying it in my front pocket in probably 1988 or 89. I'm so glad they make minimalist wallets now.

Today: small, hard-sided card holder w/money clip in the front pocket, and the keys are on a small carabeaner off the back beltloop and into the back right pocket. I used to have a big George Costanza wallet in my back pocket, and it started hurting my back and hip starting at around 40. I would take it out of my pocket on longer drives to save my back, and many times left it in the car accidentally. New system is more ergonomic and secure. ![gif](giphy|X2xRGTElqdfry)

Haven't owned a wallet in years. I have a pocket on the back of my phone for cards and ID. I'm thinking about getting rid of that too. Don't really need the cards anymore with tap to pay. And ID can be kept in my car unless I'm buying alcohol.

Front left pocket, ever since I was a teen. Yes, it creates a visible rectangular bulge in front, but that's preferable to the possibility of it slipping out the rear pocket unnoticed (possibly due to a pickpocket). In nearly 40 years of doing this I have never dropped or lost a wallet, or had one stolen. These days I have a bulky car key fob, so my wallet is one of those slim hiker's wallets, attached to the same paracord lanyard as the key fob. It goes in my front pocket with the lanyard attached to a belt loop. No possibility of being separated from either, unless I face a mugger armed with a knife.

I switched to a small plastic wallet that holds my license, health insurance card, couple credit cards, and a couple loyalty/discount cards. Like how it rides comfortably in my front pocket. Before I was taking my wallet out of my back pocket for driving comfort. That also meant that there were times I had to go back to the car because I’d forgotten the wallet while getting out. Don’t miss the bulk or the forgetting.

I do the same as OP. I have a small front-pocket wallet that's just wide enough to hold a license/credit card and can hold about 8-10 plastic cards (license, credit, health) and 4-6 paper cards (loyalty/rewards cards). I've been doing this forever. Well to be fair, it used to be a wad of loose receipts/cards/license until I got tired of dealing with it and got the small wallet about 10 years ago. I haven't used a pocketbook in at least 2 decades and feel the wallet is safer in my front pocket from potential thieves/accidentally falling out. My back pocket is for my cell phone when I need my hands free.

I have one of those magsafe wallets that snaps to your phone. One credit card, my license, that's it. I barely even use the credit card as most places do tap to pay and I do that with my phone. In truth half the time I don't even bother with my phone, I just use my apple watch as the key to my car and to tap to pay.
