Help me build my first pc

I am trying to build my first gaming pc optimized for sim racing. I use ps5 so I have no clue how all this works, but I want the infinite opportunities of a pc. Any tips? Also, does my pc need to be special to have vr capabilities?

Assuming you want to have some equal to or better than a PS4 get ready to pay $1500usd or more

Oh boy

I'd like to offer a correction. I was thinking of the PS5 pro
Something that would perform like a PS5 (well it's probably a little slower because of console optimisations)
would cost about 1100$ with the caveat that you would need to buy a used graphics card (because the only GPU with above 8gb vram in that budget is the b580 which I won't recommend for a newcomer)

This would be considered a 1080p pc capable of 1440p as long as you will sacrifice visually, by turning down settings or enabling DLSS/FSR upscaling.
For something that would equal or most often beat the PS5 pro you would be wanting something like this

VR can be a little bit picky. The best VR sim graphics cards are 4090 or 4080 Super or 5080.
If you are thinking to get the whole kit like feedback steering wheel and such then I strongly suggest you find a sub dedicated to sim racing and ask there what is good for your budget range.
Speaking of budget I don't see anything mentioned for the PC.

I have a good wheel and setup but I just need a pc. Vr is not a necessity, I was just curious about if like any pc could do it or if it needed to be special. I am willing to spend around 1,000 but not over 1500

Well a 5080 card is at least 1300 just to start.
I recommend you ask on a sim racing sub what you can squeak by with on that budget.
