how do you guys find work???

ive been a bartender since last october (not my first job bartending) but i was sexually assaulted at work after a shift in february, and they put me on phase return in march (i was away for two weeks after it happened, just a coincidence, my time away had been planned for weeks). im guessing im still on phase return despite how long its been as even though ive told them i feel okay to do more shifts (and need more money) but im still on 5 hours a week. (ive been old i can get statutory sick pay, but my workplace is saying they dont do it- i thought SSP and company sick pay are two different things? SSP the company pays but gets the money back from the gov, i know where i work dont do company sick pay)
ive been applying for job after job after job and its always unsuccessful. most are in areas i have worked in before, some are new areas im interested in trying out, but because its new stuff i havent done before ive only tried trainee or junior roles.
ive updated my CV, made numerous CVs to match the jobs ive applied for, written cover letters. nothing. i just want a full time job as i am now on universal credit and dont really like being on benefits (personal opinion, this isnt my first time in uc)
any advise is greatly appreciated

I'm sorry to hear this happened to you. Everyone has the right to feel safe at work.
Your work should be taking this very seriously as the health and safety of a staff member has been compromised.
I'd advise giving ACAS a ring to get the rules on SSP as like you I thought all employers did this.

Networking mainly. I haven't applied for a job in a while because people I've worked with before recommend me and vice versa.

Our best mental health unit workers are those who have done bar work! The jobs have a lot in common - managing people who may not be fully in charge of their senses, calming things down, creating a good atmosphere. Listening to people’s stories while keeping things moving along.
It might sound scary if you haven’t experienced it, especially for someone who has been sexually assaulted, but if you see a job come up, call the contact and ask for a visit. It could well be safer than a bar.

Since April SSP is a legal requirement for all workplaces so you get paid from day 1 sick day. Some workplaces only start sick pay on day 3 of sickness prior to this.
The quickest places to find jobs are generally bars, kitchens, retail, care homes etc. Make sure you rework every application to make transferable skills relevant to every post.
I can only commend your courage on moving forward from your circumstances.

Personal recommendations are always good, ask friends or family if they have any jobs where they work and if they can put in a good word for you?
