I do food delivery, so charging time is really important to me. I've been looking for an e-bike that can fully charge in around 2 hours, which sounds way faster than the one I own. Does fast charging actually make a difference for daily use, or is it just a marketing trick?

Get another battery then only run them down to 50% or so to maximize life. I run a dual balance discharge adapter and run 2 batteries at the same time. They discharge equally at the same time.

Some BMSs don't like more than 2-3A, I had a 5A charger I didn't like using it, get a 2nd battery and talk to one of the restaurants that you frequent and ask if they'll let you charge your spare battery there, then you could work as long for as you want to.

maybe get 2nd battery
and carry it too

Some newer models have certified batteries for fast charging, so I guess it's getting safer, but it would be worth looking into before buying.

wouldn’t a second battery be more important
wpg_Coyote@reddit
If you need it for work and delivery, buy a second battery. Relying on a fast charger will mean downtime. You’re better off buying a second battery and throwing the dead one on a standard charger.

This is the best advice.

Have you looked into programmable chargers? This one can do 20-93V, and 2-10A. It can charge a 72v20ah battery in around 2 hours

I’d be worried about the longevity of a 20ah battery being charged at 10amps. You’re going to significantly reduce the number of cycles that battery can do charging at such a high rate. It’s not convenient but slower charging means longer life out of your battery.

It depends on cells. A 4P configuration means I’m only charging each cell at 2.5 amps which is relatively low for good quality cells.

It’s not necessarily that it’s going to be unsafe, but the faster you charge any cell the less cycles you’re going to get out of it. I have a custom 4P setup with quality Panasonic 21700’s and the data sheets still clearly show the higher the charging current, cycle life goes down. Each cell might only be getting 2500mAh, but the cell capacity is 5000mAh. That’s on the aggressive end.

I wanted to share a quick experience with my ENGWE L20 3.0 Pro (EU version) that really surprised me. One of the things that caught my attention the most — and that I’m really happy about — is the charging speed. It was fully charged in about 2 hours, which I think is fantastic! Compared to my previous e-bike, the difference is very noticeable. It charges much faster than I expected. Honestly, I thought it was just marketing, but I can confirm it’s not. For anyone who uses their bike daily or needs to recharge between rides, this is a big advantage and gives a lot more flexibility in everyday use. Has anyone else with this model had the same experience? 👀

It's not a marketing trick, and don't affect on healty of battery, charger and battery are complatible with fast charging....👍

Can you buy another battery? Have one charging while the other is in use?
sincerely_brie@reddit
The fast charging for the 3.0 is true, the downside is the battery is small. If you’re planning on doing delivery it will not last long enough to be useful for you, 720wh - 48V - 15Ah. It can only do 65 miles on pas 1 with a light rider, if you use throttle only it’s probably closer to 15-20 miles.

For me it depends. On weekends I don't care, but on work days it would definitely help a lot.

Get eBike with dual batteries. Will last you 100 miles per day. Bosch motor.

I think you're better off with 2 or more batteries.
