so a couple months ago i had a r3 3200g rx 580 a520m a pro mobo 12 gigs of ddr4 ram and a sg 550 watt 80 plus bronze psu at first everything was good i passed the summer vacation with it until a lil bit after the vacation ended like 2 or 3 weeks the gpu burned i waswatching youtube and it just burned i was smelling something burned in there i imediatly removed all the cables and put the pc aside i waited until my dad came home we removed the gpu and the pc worked i wasn't sure the gpu was damaged so i replugged it in and the pc fans started spinning for 1 sec then stopped i supose thats means a burned gpu alright after that i spent sometime without the gpu until the pc stopped working the fans and leds started but no display i sent it to a technician he found the problem and changed the motherboard to a asrock b450m hdv r4.0 i've been using it since the psu is still there but i don't know if i get another gpu it will burn too or malfunction were those problems from the psu or was is something else cus i wanna get the gpu before the school year ends so could someone please help me or just tell me the reason at the first place my gpu burned

Yeah that’s what happens with cheap PSUs. It’s the most important part of the pc.

Rule number 1. Always try to buy from well known global brands
i looked up your PSU and it is a Chinese rebranded product, likely a very cheap and bad one too. Even if it is not the main problem, i recommend changing it asap. 550w psu are pretty affordable(even the top tier ones)

It might be the PSU. Clean power for your components is crucial for them lasting. Something Gold rated might be the way to go. Also upgrade to 650/750W if you wanna future proof into 1440p gaming somewhat

Could you be more specific on the exact psu you got? Also did you notice any burn marks on the cables?

Oh wow it really doesn't have a model name. I also cannot find the exact brand on the 80plus list (neither under SG nor setupgame) so I'm gonna guess they aren't actually certified. Wouldn't be surprised if this is what killed your GPU.

i mean i think SG just stands for setup game its a known moroccan brand that sells pc stuff

Yes, but they claim to be 80plus bronze certified. If you go on the 80plus website and search their database, I cannot find anything of their brand, meaning they probably lied. It may be well known but that doesn't mean it is any actual quality.
The fact they, potentially, lied about certification and they only got 2 years of warranty is a massive PSU red flag imo. That generally means it's an avoid at all costs PSU.
Looking into this brand a bit more and I can find a fair few stories of this PSU brand killing components.
It is unfortunate, and considering your components I'm guessing you're on a budget, but the PSU is the most important component for a reason.
