Is 8gb vram in 1080p gaming in 2026 enough? cause im considering 6600xt and 3070 to build
Blue-150@reddit
Yes and if you check the steam survey that's the most common setup. 8gb vram and a 1080p monitor.

I use a 3060ti at 1440p with dlss mid-high settings and I never experienced problems.

its enough and its sufficient. Would it be better to save some moni and get a more recent card so that it lasts longer? Yes.
Helpful-Wonder2773@reddit
Enough and 3070 can play some titles at 1440P
Pumciusz@reddit
What games, what resolution?
AAA very high/ultra no.
Esport at low/med yes.
If you jump on random trendy games then the next HD2 could use more.

I'd still put the 3070 above esports low haha, I still run esports titles close to max on a 1080 at 100+ fps, I'm sure a 3070 can beat that.
I'd still back it for most titles med/high, you can certainly get any game looking and playing good by messing with the settings
Pumciusz@reddit
I meant it as most people don't run those games at max.

Depends on the game and what settings you use
There are some newer AA games, that when COMPLETELY maxed out in everything including Ray/path Tracing, it will hit past 8gb even at 1080p

I have same question tbh, wanting to buy 5060ti, I think it will be enough or ALMOST enough but I'm here to see other opinions about it
VersaceUpholstery@reddit
Just get the 9060 XT if you want 16gb

I still play with 3060ti at 1440p it's enough in most games. It only suffers in heavy games like Stalker 2 and Hellblade 2, but it's fault of the GPU not the VRAM. Indiana Jones uses more VRAM but it has good FPS.
ILIKEBACON12456@reddit
It will most likely be enough. These gpus aren't bottlenecked by the vram so you can actually see what the chip is capable of.
Isotope_Junkie@reddit
I think it is more than enough.
30957@reddit
For 1080p it wouldn't be enough, the 1% lows are worse than higher VRAM GPUs.
swaggalicious86@reddit
That's fine for 1080p
esw123@reddit
Yes. But for 3070 price you can get RX6800 and it will be better.
Little-Equinox@reddit
Why have both GPUs and not a single 3080 or newer?
